Ive been thinking about who was the worst pro “star” that was always in the news, had insane media coverage, hype, commercials, everything that a big star athlete gets, but deserved none of it.
My pick would be Tim Tebow. The dude had insane media coverage, and still does get it whenever his name pops up. Yet other than a lucky streak of wins for ONE YEAR, he has never deserved any of the media coverage he’s gotten, yet everything he ever does seemed to be big news.

His popularity was also due to factors that had little or nothing to do with Football.
He was a former Heisman winner and college star, at any rate.

Anna Kournikova with ease. Insanely hot with so-so tennis skills took her far.

take away his super bowl win, and there is nothing special about Joe Namath.

take away his super bowl win, and there is nothing special about Joe Namath. Same for Eli Manning Eli's numbers don't stand up to his contemporaries (Rivers, Romo, Roethlisberger), but he had durability that none of said contemporaries matched and shined in the big moments that only Roethlisberger matched.

Durability is all well and good but it really means nothing if it doesn't translate to wins. And Eli with his .500 record didn't do that. Like I said take away Eli's rings and he's a meh QB with a good family name and nothing else.

Anna Kournikova with ease. Insanely hot with so-so tennis skills took her far. She made the semifinals of Wimbledon a few weeks after turning 16 and was ranked in the top 10 of her sport. The press she got for 2-3 years was insane, but despite how early career ended to injuries her on field results were the equivalent to someone who makes the all star game of a team sport. She just wasn't ever someone who would win an MVP vote if tennis had the equivalent to that which exists us sports. She's way closer to say a Blake Griffin or Grant Hill then a Tebow/Bosworth type player

Yeah she was a very successful doubles player and even #1 in the world at one point with Hingis. She had very little singles success overall and mainly had success in doubles because she was teammates with one of the top women’s tennis stars of all time. Would she have achieved that same success with a lesser partner? Probably not. I mean…if we’re saying Super Bowl winning quarterbacks are overrated,..multi winning Champions at that…then I think it’s safe to say that Anna meets that criteria. We’ll never know if she would have reached singles glory in the end thanks to injury but all of us around at the time will never forget her thanks to good Ol’ Maxim’s obsession with her.

Yeah it would be like a tag team with Brock Lesnar and Colin Delaney.

I wouldn't go as far to call him among the worst he was an important 3 point shooter on multiple NBA championship teams not an MVP type, but he's got value

Well Tebow and we can't mention why he got so famous, but we all know, so that's fine.
I will go with Alexandre Daigle. Sens somehow made themselves to pick him and he's one the biggest draft busts in history...only second to Patrik Steffan, who managed a highlight reel f*** up that even someone who has never seen hockey would understand, once you explained who he was, that was the end of his career.

Alexandre Daigle is the Ryan Leaf of Hockey. he's only famous for being the biggest draft bust in NHL history.

I also assume we mean by achievements because Tebow's athleticism disqualifies him from being one of the worst athletes. Like, you put him in better situations and his athleticism would have carried him better.
