The bodysuits look really stupid and AAA screwed the pooch again in their timing but, I kind of like it.
Some people I’ve seen say it makes no sense because why would Andrade want the second coming of the Brain Busters winning a Lucha championship considering how much they hate that style. Shouldn’t he be more protective of the integrity of Lucha Libre?
To which I respond “Since when has Andrade ever cared about that? Do you not know what Los Ingobernables and “Tranquilo” are all about?”

I don’t hate this per se, I just don’t think I fully understand it. Didn’t the Luchas hold those titles for like 3 years? Surely AAA have a tag team that could have used the rub of dethroning them on a marquee show? Are trios titles more important in LL than tags?
Is AAA trying to cur favor with AEW by all this? A favor to be called in at the next TripleMania?
I watch AAA when I can, but admittedly don’t really know whats going on because of the Spanish barrier. Just curious how AAA gets a rub out of this

They think they gain more by having Americans hold the belts and defend them on big shows to try to attract a bigger audience.

So in theory, FTR knocking off Lucha Bros can be a better build for the eventual lucha team that beats FTR, drawing more in the process and delivering a better story? I am asking out of pure curiosity. It took me 20 years of tape trading/video games/chatrooms/forums to understand puroresu, I’m only starting to crack the Lucha Libre eggshell

I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be a Los Conquistadores situation, where they look low-budget and unassuming to make you think they don't stand a chance of winning.

Seriously, who the hell designs AAA's belts? Kenny's title and these tag titles look like somebody cut a strip of rubber from a tire and glued on pieces of cardboard. AAA isn't exactly some hole in the wall fed (although some of those have better looking belts). Aubrey holding up those belts as being important just looked wrong.

Yeah that was the big take away I had, the super ranas were supposed to be a dumb gimmick put together on the cheap in case the lucha brothers ended up getting the name of the tag team Andrade was bringing in somehow. It was all a set up to show Andrade cutting deals and making moves to get the Lucha Brothers to realize they should be playing his game.

Like, it's way more similar to the Memphis approach to titles, where there are a lot of them, many go a while without defenses, and like, they're about as big a deal as whoever has them at the time, I guess. Prestige is usually more reserved for stuff like masks.

I was just confused storyline wise why FTR needed to wear the outfits? Like where they banned from challenging for the titles in the past or something? I mean that’s got unmasked halfway through so I’m presuming not
Was it to mess with Lucha Bros mentally because they didn’t seem to care either way
FTR leapfrogging as part of their entrances popped me and I did enjoy the match (Especially the belt shot, I mean that really looked right on the money considering he was midair when he hit him ha)

There's a difference between thinking you're wrestling some unknown goofy jobber team to suddenly realizing you're wrestling one of the best teams in the world with a very different style than you were expecting to prepare for. I feel like it's what lead to the frenetic pace of the match as well. Both almost felt like they didn't want the other to settle into a rhythm. Lucha Bros wanting to end it quickly and FTR trying to cut every corner to win the match which in the end worked out for them.

Yeah, we have a lot of status on our belts and company prestige and such but Mexican wrestling seems like the wild west in comparison.
Like, imagine if, say, Roman Reigns jumped from WWE to Impact then to AEW and then back to WWE all under new names with the same gimmick and it could all happen as easy as a click of your fingers? That's basically most of the careers of masked wrestlers down there at this point. Hell, look at freakin' Penta El Zoro M/Pentagon Jr/Pentagon Black etc
And at the end of the day, AAA likely approved the change and like the idea of it so...*shrug*
