I wanna see what a Dragon/Tiger/Falcon/White Shogunzord combo would be like. If anyone here draws mecha fanart, get on that please.

28 years ago today, we were introduced to the Green Ranger. Which kickstarted a five-part epic on a show that was, up until that point, just a series of self-contained adventures where the Power Rangers would fight the requisite monster of the day and learn a lesson at the end. With the Green Ranger's arrival, things suddenly took a turn for the serious as we saw a character who looked just like our heroes handily kicking their asses and raising the stakes considerably.

The moment that turned PR on its head and changed their history
Wha could been a decent forgotten about show went crazy with them bringing Tommy in and treating him like a killer. Helps that JDF had everything you wanted for that role

This did not just change history for PR but really cartoons in general and how they told stories because nothing in cartoons beforehand had ever attempted 5 partner...maybe 2 parters but thinking children would stay invested for a single story for 5 episodes straight was pretty damn well insane back then.
But boy did it work out better than anyone could have ever dreamed of.

Both are so damn cool and green is my favorite color, but Saba, a god damned talking sword, is really hard to overcome in awesomeness. But, wait, the Dragon Dagger was a god damned flute too! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!! Tommy got all the cool stuff.

Umm...there were a lot of 80s cartoons that did five parters.

I think one of the best idea that the original PR had was to adapted the original storylines from zyuranger for power ranger.

Man, that green ranger saga had us on the edge of our seats back in the day. Talk about great promotion by Fox.

I remember having the 5 parter on VHS as a kid. I thought the Green Ranger was the coolest Power Ranger ever.
Though I realize how much of a scam that was because it was one half hour episode on 5 VHS tapes.

Man, that green ranger saga had us on the edge of our seats back in the day. Talk about great promotion by Fox. I think the funniest part about Power Rangers is I remember just how difficult it was to watch it when it first came out. Yeah sure, plenty of folks tuned in to watch it after school, but how many of us were up at 4:30am every morning in September to watch the first episodes because the Fox stations inexplicably put it in the very first slot of regular programming after all the infomercials? This was the midwestern United States mind you, so it's not like they were importing it or anything, they just treated it like an afterthought until they saw just how popular it was, then suddenly this miniseries was an EVENT. Next thing you know, show is moved right into the prime 3:30pm slot so kids could catch it right after getting home from school; that was my first foray into appointment viewing, before the Monday Night Wars became a thing.
