While the men are having an 8-guy tournament? That's quite a stretch. If you look at the original TNT Tournament, there was only 8 wrestler in that one compare to the 12 in the TBS Tournament. And the entire point of this field is to reward those in the top five, which gets the rankings over as still being important. I’m always down for a 16 person tournament but there’s really nothing negative to read into this being a field of 12.

They still should have had to wrestle instead of get a bye. You simply remove the lowest four ranked from the tournamnet.

We get more matches and potential storylines this way (Shida vs. Serena II, Velvet helping Ruby against Penelope and Allie), and the idea is the top four have already wrestled for their byes by being in the top five.

Why? Because I like to see wrestlers have wrestling matches instead of getting a bye. To me it defeats the point of a tournament if not everyone has the same amount of matches. If someone who only had to win 2 matches beats someone who had to win 3, then it feels like bullshit anyway. As for more matches? That works too, but people had already brought up that it should have been 16 instead of 12.

The top four still have to win three matches, the others are essentially winning qualifiers. The NFL and MLB playoffs work this way, plenty of wrestling tournaments have done it (Deadly Game, WM IV); I guess I’m just not seeing the issue here.

But if they already earned it, then by default the lowest ranking women in the tournament shouldn't be there, because they haven't earned it. Basically my issue personally is just that I don't like byes in a tournament, whether they're pro wrestling or legit combat sports. If you like the way they're doing it, then you're getting what you want as a fan and I'm not. That just happens sometimes.

Thinking about tonights match between Shida and Serena and im changing my prediction, now going with Shida winning due to AEW not doing heel vs heel again after how Nyla vs Britt turned out.

Serena vs Shida II was great, ironic that 1-2-3 pinfall on Serena made the TBS tournament surpass the Queen of the Ring tourney in ring time by 3 secs.

That match was absolutely phenomenal.
Also, I found this on Reddit.
The first two matches in this tournament had Ruby vs Ford go for 8:30 and Shida vs Deeb went 10:57. Which comes out to 19:27.
The entire Queen of the Ring tournament went 19:24.
So this tournament already destroys that one.

Deeb/Shida 2 might've been a better women's match to me than a large portion of recent and especially main roster WWE Women's matches I've seen in awhile if not all of them. It was just a great wrestling match...

I’m betting the post match was a way to give Shida an “out” to lose to Nyla Rose in the next round.

It also hopefully sets up another Shida vs. Deeb match at the PPV.

But its slow, but steady progress is made to look better than it really is just because of how much into the shitter WWE's divisions have gotten.

Between WWE basically nosediving in their presentation of women's wrestling and ROH releasing all of their talent, it feels like AEW is inching toward the top of the US women's wrestling game by doing nearly nothing to earn it.

Yeah, I'd say AEW has the number 2 women's division in the US among larger unisex promotions, but purely by default. Impact is still tops and unlike with WWE, it remains a focal point of the company. So AEW's got work to do to get on their level.

I liked the postmatch segment with Ruby and Kris to heat up a bit their upcoming match in the tourney QHs.

Was thinking a good way to knock Jade out without pinning her would be a double count out with Velvet maybe but that means Thunder Rosa advances to the final if she beats Hayter and that’s not a babyface move.
Maybe Hayter beats Rosa through Britt interference. Hayter loses to Ruby or Statlander in the final.

If Rosa wins which and I don't think there's really any way she isn't, there's no way you could do that especially with her already being one of the four who got first round byes. Having a babyface get to the finals after getting two byes to get there would not look good at all.

The only way that I can see Jade not winning this is if someone costs her a match to set up a feud. I've no idea who that would be though.
Personally, I'd like Rosa or Shida to win it.
