So seeing Joey Janela get into more social media drama (this time with the COO of MLW) is more reason why I don't think he will get a full time gig when his contract runs out

That'll get worse actually, Deeb and Rosa I'm interviews lately all but said more female hires are coming... I'm expecting 2-3 out of Ember Moon, Toni Storm, Tegan Nox, Mia Yim & Taya Valkyrie (she's already said that she would like to go to AEW and take part in the Owen Hart cup)
One of the new signings is obviously Marina Shafir, AEW aren't going to release merchandise if she wasn't signed
Rosa talked about wrestling Ember for 5 minutes then walked it back...that one seems certain.

Every company needs solid hands who make a good living being midcard gate keepers. Guys like Spears? I don't see them leaving to go be a big fish in a small pond, especially at 40 years of age. Spears is part of the Pinnacle and a regular on weekly TV, so he’s not exactly an unused hand.

Im a Janela fan, but when he dressed like a QAnon guy and did the bit at the PTA meeting or whatever, I mean, I thought it was hilarious, but does a national company? What if that went unwell? His fist fights with Havoc, the stuff with Enzo. Thats 100% the time he stopped getting booked as much, and it's been more than a year. He did something that probably made people pause about giving him a consistent spot. People talk like Janela was getting all these matches, he's been booked ONLY 11 times since May of 2021. Thats on TV and Youtube. He lost his spot a long time ago, and I dont even know if theyll bring him in PPA. But Im a fan and enjoy all his matches, so Ill follow him wherever.

Yeah, Cage and Janela definitely don’t help themselves out with the things they say and do.

Spears isn't going anywhere. He's on tv almost every week and is probably the best lower midcard heel act in the company. Every company needs hands like Spears.

Yeah, I don't know who looks at Spears and thinks "This guy is out in a week", he's finally hit his stride with a character as the annoying chair pervert and he's been consistently on television. Look to the people falling through the cracks or who haven't gotten much stuff.

Meltzer and Alvarez talked about guys coming up soon and Meltz didn't go into too much detail but he did intimate that there were things that happened after Cage's wife posted on social media that caused some issues between the sides.
Also coincidently he mentioned Joey running his mouth on social media as a big issue with AEW as well.
He did mention he doesn't know if either will be let go but basically said if they are not on Dynamite or Rampage they're likely gonna see their contracts expire.

Not really shocking to me that they aren't big fans of wrestlers being idiots on social media, in which case Pillman Jr. REALLY needs to take the hint.

I do not wish for anyone to be fired or to lose their job. With that being said, I would not lose any sleep if AEW choose not to bring back Joey Janela, Brian Cage, Peter Avalon, Lio Rush, Marko Stunt, Peter Avalon, the Librarian, Sonny Kiss, Luther and a couple of others. I also wouldn't lose sleep if Chris Jericho takes a paycut and is either moved to being a JJ Dillon manager and or announcer. As well as Jake Hager either focusing on wrestling or moving on.
Tony Khan is rich but that doesnt mean he has unlimited resources to pay everyone, put everyone on tv and have everyone win.
I would like to see Tony take resources that he is saving but not renewing the talent listed above and going after Keith Lee, Ember Moon, Isaiah Scott , John Morrison and Taya Valkerie, Toni Storm and a couple of others.

I mentioned in the Lio thread but if you check Brian Cage recent likes on twitter I feel like he doesnt care anymore
Blaming it on AEW instead of realizing he screwed up is funny.

Tony Khan should just let me him go, they clearly don't want him any more & Brian obviously wants out...

Let him go to do what? Wrestle on the indies which he does now? You think Tony Khan WANTS to keep on his payroll, paying him to do nothing for the company except complain and talk about how he looks like Chris Benoit on Twitter? At this point, Cage should use this "AEW misused me" energy and try to get a job with WWE. Cant wait for that first promo off of a script. If hes just an indie guy, why would Cage want to lose paychecks from TK?

I wouldn't be surprised if he just wants to go back to Impact, it's the only place he will be a main eventer like he & his wife seem to think he is.
As for WWE, they could have signed him multiple times before AEW was even a thing, why would they suddenly want him now when he's in his late 30s?? he doesn't exactly fit their new direction, and there's no way he would pass their wellness policy.

He can work Impact if he wanted. Nothing is stopping him. They probably wouldnt care if he worked WWE. My point is he can work anywhere, the only thing TK is doing is honoring the contract and continuing to pay him. Saying "let him go" is saying "stop paying Brian Cage."

I can't see WWE even taking a look at Cage in the current climate. They don't want indie guys with indie cred or workrate, even if they're big and musclebound, because that's just extra baggage they're bringing to the table. On top of that, he's in his late 30s with a history of past injuries, which is going to hold him back even more than the drug tests.
I assume he's going to Impact or somewhere else that'll be happy to use him as a main eventer.
