Yep, Jake Hager, hasn't been in a match since full gear. I'm not sure if he's been mentioned yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if Sonny Kiss was let go. He was one of the first people that they signed, but he hasn't been involved in any major storylines on the main shows. On an episode of AEW Dynamite, they showed when Joey Janela turned on him on an episode of AEW Dark, but neither of the two were featured on AEW Dynamite or Rampage in the weeks after that. Sonny Kiss was just on Dark. He was at the Jan 1, 2019 press conference, so if he had a 3 year deal, him appearing on Dark is past the 3 years, indicating he is still with the company. He is also always posting about AEW on his social media, and has been working a lot of indie dates. Like Peter Avalon, Sonny might have moved from a contract to a PPA deal.

Meltzer and Alvarez talked about guys coming up soon and Meltz didn't go into too much detail but he did intimate that there were things that happened after Cage's wife posted on social media that caused some issues between the sides. Also coincidently he mentioned Joey running his mouth on social media as a big issue with AEW as well. He did mention he doesn't know if either will be let go but basically said if they are not on Dynamite or Rampage they're likely gonna see their contracts expire. Not really shocking to me that they aren't big fans of wrestlers being idiots on social media, in which case Pillman Jr. REALLY needs to take the hint. Pillman needs to learn that, while he may be the spitting image of his father, he can't turn controversy into cash like he did.

So if we can learn anything about Brian Cage's tenure in AEW is maybe your wife going to complain about her husband's booking on twitter is not the best idea.

I mean he had title matches, beat Hangman and faced him on PPV and was in a high profile big PPV match with Sting. He was booked very strongly for the most part. Only 1 or 2 clean losses. I'm sure had he and his idiot wife kept their noses clean and shut up then a possible TNT title run would've been on the cards in the future

So if we can learn anything about Brian Cage's tenure in AEW is maybe your wife going to complain about her husband's booking on twitter is not the best idea. I feel he ruined his run before she posted. Her reaction was to his lost spot. I think he's a meathead who wears shirts about steroids killing covid, hated wearing his mask when everyone else did, and probably did some things backstage that killed his push. He pinned Hangman Page on TV when they knew full well Page was going to the world champion. They had plans for him. But his charisma vacuum promos, along with something that happened once they started touring again, got him de-pushed. When she complained, it's when he had lost to Powerhouse Hobbs and Rick Starks in the span of 3 weeks. She felt, and I guess other people did too, that Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs should have lost to Brian Cage. I'm not in that boat, and I would rather see Starks and Hobbs win 100 times out of 100 times when it comes to Cage. But you know, time and twitter forget all things. So good luck to Brian Cage in the next chapter of his career.

That kinda feels like that TK is going to clean house.

If I had to guess, guys who were there when it started like Private Party, Cutler, TH2, Kaz, are gone soon

If I had to guess, guys who were there when it started like Private Party, Cutler, TH2, Kaz, are gone soon I don't see Private Party going anywhere given they're constantly on the TV Shows Meltzer said the ones most in danger are the ones you haven't really seen on Dynamite or Rampage in months Evans might be gone but they used Angelico a lot on Dynamite before he got injured...

If I had to guess, guys who were there when it started like Private Party, Cutler, TH2, Kaz, are gone soon Private Party were just named to the Board of Directors in the AHFO and had a match on Elevation where the announce team put over the development in the gimmick. Brandon Cutler films all the content for BTE and is on TV every week with the Bucks. Kazarian just had a 10 minute match on Dynamite. If people aren't injured, and aren't being used, than they're in danger of not being re-newed. These 4 are being used.

Not being funny, the whole “list people I don’t like and/or don’t see on TV enough as people who are likely to have their contracts expire” thing got old when it started and now people are just beating into the ground that the horse once died on.

Especially when they start listing names like Leva Bates, Luther, or Kazarian like it hasn't already pointed out a million times that they either work backstage roles or are tenured veterans who may also have backstage responsibilities while being good hands (sorry Shawn Spears) in the ring.

I think part of Cage's problem is that AEW has strong hosses like Hobbs and Wardlow now that are better long-term prospects. More charismatic, more over, and have more potential. Cage already reached his AEW ceiling when he beat Hangman, IMO. Hobbs and (especially) Wardlow are nowhere near theirs.

It looks like TK's strategy is becoming clearer. A lot of people were saying the roster was getting bloated and it was. But you can't just wait until all these contracts expire to pick up a free agent when they can go elsewhere. So you pick up talent when you can and bite the bloated roster for a bit and then let some contracts expire in 2022.

As he should. You have Bray Wyatt, Keith Lee, Isaiah Scott, John Morrison and his wife, ember moon and a bunch of others who are free agents. I can think of at least 10 people who can be gone today and it wouldn't make a difference. Joey Janela, Peter Avalon, Sonny Kiss, Hager, Evan's, Brian Cage, Marko Stunt, etc.

"Jesus Christ LOL" what? You can agree or disagree with individual names in particular, but is anyone seriously going to be lamenting if Jake Hager goes away? Marko Stunt hasn't been on TV in how long now? He's not even appearing backstage with Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy. And these aren't guys with important backstage roles, either.
I don't know if Hager's gone or not--he's not a big factor on TV but no one's fingering him as a guy likely not to be renewed. But I don't know how it can be argued that he really contributes anything to the product at the moment.

When they signed Cage, in the "Big Guy" category they had Luchasaurus, Archer, Wardlow and Hager (and Billy and Dustin, but they don't really fit in the big guy niche).
Now they have access to guys like Hobbs, Comorato, Bear Country and Bononi. Who all have good upsides, and are likely to come cheaper than Cage. And as far as I can tell are much less of a headache.

I enjoy the Sammy/Hager tag team they roll out occasionally and I loved that Hager/Wardlow match they did.

I thought doing the exact same thing the Mod said is getting old and tiresome immediately after the Mod said it was old and tiresome was pretty ironic, never once was it said you couldn't agree or disagree or speculate, but I agreed with what EJM was saying on the matter, and the definitive "Oh well these people are DEFINITELY leaving/Nobody would miss THEM" posts are old Some seem pretty obvious, still kind of shitty to frame it like some have with certain names, and some which don't even make sense for other reasons given.
