That promo was absolutely incredible. To me that was probably one of the best pure babyface promos I’ve heard in a very long time.

It was indeed great, that's how you do a babyface promo

I think the most important moment in that segment was "I kept losing... but no matter how much I lose... you guys just kept getting louder and louder for me"
Like the rhetoric that a bunch of losses mean that some talents can just never go anywhere is something that just doesn't exist in AEW. It's why when Dark Order are questioned because they lose a lot I am not worried about them in the slightest because through the losses they are still insanely over.
The crowds are patient and show their love. And they and Hangman are just two great examples of that among others. It's a welcomed change of pace from wrestlers losing one match feeling like its the absolute end of them (Because it's booked like it is)

I thought it was exceptional and unique. What I love about Page and his promos (and I’m legit asking, has any other face done this effectively?) is he juxtaposes being vulnerable with the usual “Argghh Yeah, I’m a wrassler!!” Stuff.
It comes across as very testy to show vulnerability/go inward. People, and I’d argue especially wrestling fans, tend to recoil, stop caring or lash out at it.
But any and everytime he did tonight, he jumps back up with intensity and confidence. It’s great. It’s great man and really..I can’t think of another face who does that similarly in wrestling and it works.
On a personal level, I’m hot and cold on the character cause the emotional stuff gets draining but that line tonight of him saying he “believes in himself too”...That’s what I’ve been waiting for. f*** yeah Cowboy. Get your shit on.

I've never seen a top face so empathetic and vulnerable without being insincere while also being so popular.

I've never seen a top face so empathetic and vulnerable without being insincere while also being so popular. Thinking about it further, the closest other successful example I can think of is Kofi on his way to his title win in WWE.

It was an excellent promo and I'm so glad that he was just given the time to say it, without any interruptions from Schiavone and especially Omega and the Elite.
There are really two excellent and distinct stories playing here. The first is the obvious Kenny vs. Hangman story and all of the history between them, and the second is just Hangman's story itself. That's why it hits so hard, I think. This promo was Hangman's story. Next week we'll hopefully get more into the Kenny vs. Hangman story.

This is what makes a great babyface. You jump out of your seat whenever he wins, and you feel absolutely gutted when he loses. He's human he can fail, and sometimes he does, no matter how good he is, no matter how hard he works he'll eventually fall...
And then he'll get back up and go at it again. This was one of the best promos I've ever seen.

I thought it was a great babyface promo. It felt very genuine and Adam Page was spot on with his delivery and it connected with the fans.

I've never seen a top face so empathetic and vulnerable without being insincere while also being so popular. It's groundbreaking. It's the working class seeing one of their own on screen and embracing Dusty Rhodes It's the downtrodden saying 'f*** you' back to the world and getting behind Steve Austin It's the people who've been told 'you can't do it' all their life and reacting passionately to Daniel Bryan Like those iconic babyface groundswells, Hamgman just resonates with so many people. He's vulnerable. He's sincere. He's cocky and yet unsure of himself. He's a badass in touch with his feelings. And that promo showcased it all perfectly.

After watching so many top babyfaces (ex. Orton in 2004, Cena and Reigns' entire runs on top) falter due to lack of character development over the past 17 years, it's so refreshing to see how Hangman has grown into a character worthy of the top babyface billing/booking he's receiving. That promo was a true manifestation of it. THAT was a real top babyface promo. 2 years ago, he was a guy that the company wanted to be The Man more than the fans did but audibles were called, that connection was earned and the push was completely justified.

"Cowboy Shit was learning to let the past live in the past, and accept new friends into my life. And Cowboy Shit was taking my chance, and putting it on the line to stick my neck out for those friends who stuck their necks out for me, so many times."
Man, he better win at Full Gear, and Dark Order better be there to celebrate with him.

Its telling that we're all so broken from decades of misery booking in other promotions that so many of us are having a hard time just believing that Hangman will win at Full Gear.

The one and only thing I thought was there was just a bit too much "cowboy shit" for my taste.
I mean, I know people are chanting it, and it's over. And over his promo was excellent. Just felt like they leaned into the catchphrase a little too hard.
