BTW, while there wasn't anything shown in this trailer about it, two of the bios, Tom & Jerry and Reindog, have a hint on the villain. Reindog: Tom & Jerry: If you need a further hint... {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} I don't know if I'd put too much stock into that... since "The Nothing" in that is literally nothing... it's not really a boss...

I don't know if I'd put too much stock into that... since "The Nothing" in that is literally nothing... it's not really a boss... Admitted. But the first movie was WB so there is that connection as a possible. Plus, changing something around for game purposes can always be a thing. Iron Giant even being a fighter considering the themes of his movie, for example.

You know like people getting hurt and stuff Yeah, I know...but that is a complaint that's going around some spheres I go to. They equate it with how the Yakuza game director won't put the lead in any fighting game since apparently he doesn't fight women in his games, and he feels it would betray the character in a fighting game if he went against one.

There is a theory that The Nothing is from Neverending Story.

There is a theory that The Nothing is from Neverending Story. See, I want it to be The Darkness and it somehow becomes a Pibby crossover game but that's my fandom talking. It does make sense, though, and not the first time a part of Warner plucked a character from obscurity to be a big bad (DC's big bad right now is a barely used Swamp Thing antagonist, after all).

After Arya age restriction isn't a thing. Oh yeah, wouldn't make sense considering. But a lot of what's been going on with Pibby seems so wildly unusual from television norms that it's hard to entirely rule that out.

There is a theory that The Nothing is from Neverending Story. Yeah, that was mentioned before... but... the Nothing in that was... well literally NOTHING. As a stand in for people no longer believing in fantasy so it was basically being forgotten piece by piece... It is not exactly something you can punch to death.

I just realized, The Great Darkness is the thing causing chaos in the DC multiverse but with how that character is designed, it's more something that needs a vessel then anything that can be punched itself.

Eh, video games can take certain liberties here and there. Look at the one Matrix game that changed the third movie's ending to be a fight with a kaiju agent. I could see a MultiVersus version of The Nothing being like Master Core's various forms from Smash 4.

I get the joke since that series was Hanna-Barbera and WB now owns all those characters. But at that point wouldn't it just be easier to get the actual Transformers characters? I mean, for Optimus Prime and Megatron, it wouldn't be the first platform fighter they were in. And this time, if Iron Giant is any indication, they wouldn't need to be re-sized!

Though as a "serious" answer for someone to add...

I was under the impression that Hasbro owns the rights to the Gobots characters and their related IP after buying out Tonka? Edit: sorry, I'm pretty sick right now and wasn't paying attention. I didn't notice that Hasbro's ownership of the franchise was already mentioned in the original post on the matter.

So looking it up, Hasbro owns the Gobots fictional stuff so character names, bios, storylines etc but the likeness and actual toys were licensed to Tonka by Bandai so technically, Bandai still owns that part.

I was under the impression that Hasbro owns the rights to the Gobots characters and their related IP after buying out Tonka? It's a train wreck of rights issues, as best the Transformers fandom have worked out, Hasbro own the names and characters so can and have reused those. Warner own the cartoon so can use that but can't create any new series without Hasbro, but were free to reissue the original on their DVD on demand service a few years back. Bandai own the rights to the GoBots toy designs, and Machine Robo/Robo Machine/Machine Men brands they sold the toys under outside of the US... With rumours Ashi Productions took those rights when they made Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos.
