I said this before, I prefer this over the Naked Gun movies. Frank is more competent, and I might be in the minority here but I prefer Alan North and Peter Lupus over George Kennedy and OJ Simpson. And or course the greatest actor to play Abraham Lincoln Rex Hamilton.
Did you know before he was in the WWF, Rocko was on this show.

Well this is the scene I say before, later on a un credited Tony Danza might be in it. The guy that says "Frank I am trying to eat this tuna fish sandwich" but that is another story.
And nothing more concrete and irreplaceable than a toaster.

I'd say Police Squad is more impressive writing wise than Naked Gun, but the wackier turn those films did makes complete sense givne the more general audience they were going for.

A great comedy that was a magnificent send up of the cop shows that came before it. I actually watched a few shows from the 70's and could see exactly what Police Squad was parodying, making it impossible to take them seriously.

I’ve heard Leslie Nielson once said that the reason someone gave him for canceling the show was that “You actually have to watch it”. I guess the suits thought there were too many jokes and gags for people to handle.

A typical day at the office. They used this again in the second movie (with Weird Al as the gunman). They actually recycled a lot of the jokes here.

Johnny The Shoeshine Guy was definitely the highlight of the show for me...just a fountain of information for every topic if you have the right price.

I guess the suits thought there were too many jokes and gags for people to handle. Apparently because there wasn't a laugh track executives thought that people wouldn't know it was a comedy, and people who were watching but doing something else wouldn't understand the jokes due to the lack of laugh track.

i still laugh like an idiot at this joke. My favorite scene is from that episode. When Drebin plays a game of pick up bball while questioning rhe suspect and everyones surprised he could play lol. Funny that later on in life he would do a commercial about shoes that mirrors the exact same scene

So what was Lorne Green doing in 1982. I know by 1986 he was selling life insurance (I know that because of WTBS tapes of World Championship Wrestling)in episode 2, the boxing manager was willing to trade a boxer for Lorne Green. Who would want to manage Lorne Green in 1982?

I guess the suits thought there were too many jokes and gags for people to handle. Yeah, I have heard one of the issues they got back as a reason for the show not doing well was so many of the gags were visual you couldn't have the show on in the background to get them.
