It's not lost on us that WWE seems to just for whatever reason booking all their faces as ineffective underdogs always getting trounced by the heels. And not just over on SmackDown. I just don't seem to get why.

Man, even the threads are getting stale.  I mean, that’s not to say we’re wrong here, we’re not, but what’s to say that hasn’t already been said? I’ll come in with something about “Taking the wrong lessons from the Cena/Reigns backlash”, cjb will come in all guns blazing before steering it back to how good AEW is, HMark and/or Mothman will come in with something really well-written and intelligent-sounding, polarbearpete will try and find silver linings bless his heart, pretty much everyone else will grouse and grumble and at the end of it we’re talking about food somehow while Vince McMahon keeps getting richer and changing nothing. This is what we do. |

- Yes
"Then have them get beaten down to get them more over."
- No
"They must not have been beaten down enough yet, keep it up."
They don't seem to understand that sooner or later the heroes have to actually f***ing win.

I think their process is something like... They don't seem to understand that sooner or later the heroes have to actually f***ing win. Yeah... no one likes someone that only loses or gets their ass beat. They have to come out on top at some point for people to care... even if you can get them over temporarily that way... eventually people will realize he's a choke artist if he cant win. How Owens got over against Roman originally BUT since they kpet playing the Owens almost wins then gets attacked by Jey or Heyman... that no one gave a shit about him at one point. |

On SD it's like every 7 minutes the rug gets pulled from under the good guys, on Raw it's more spaced out because of the 40 minute matches but the result is still 99 times out of 100 the villains getting the win and the heroes looking pathetic. I really wonder if there's some side of WWE that wants the audience to get invested in the big heels in a cool heel way. Roman at the very least is marketed as one on their shop and stuff  |

It's basically been this way ever since they tripped into the Daniel Bryan push, and suddenly they had to try convincing themselves that their booking him into the ground was what actually caused him to become so popular. So they try to capture that same energy because they don't seem to know what to do otherwise, and we get Roman Reigns choking against Brock Lesnar multiple times, and all the other recent examples.
They don't know how to make genuine superstars anymore, and you can tell they don't understand what the problem is. That, or they just don't want to admit what the problem is, since that would require some actual critical introspection from the top level down. It's easier to just coast on sweetheart TV deals than actually work on producing good content. I mean, the salad days last forever, right?

In my head it's still 2016 and I'm like god why's this wisdomwizard f*** so OPTIMISTIC I occasionally travel back to 2016 in my head too; I think of one of many, many debates I got into with kn or cjb after some shit-awful Raw about how "Roman Reigns is actually pretty good, guys, the fans are just fickle" and I wanna just crawl into a hole and stay there until I starve to death. |

Giving all your wrestling dollar to those companies instead of WWE? Then there’s not really much more you can do, short of something ludicrous like picketing outside WWE shows and protesting. |

Giving all your wrestling dollar to those companies instead of WWE? Then there’s not really much more you can do, short of something ludicrous like picketing outside WWE shows and protesting.
