I don't know if I liked that ending. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}They really had to do Cartman dirty like that? I'm of two different minds on it. On one hand, Cartman really doesn't deserve any happiness after all the shit he's gotten away with in the past. The kid was a racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, anti-semitic, selfish, greedy, petty, spiteful sociopath who literally got away with murder among his many many other crimes and almost never got punished for any of it. If anyone on the show deserves to have that fate at the end, it's him. And Randy. On the other hand, giving him his ultimate punishment after he decided to NOT be selfish and actually do the right thing kind of takes a lot of the catharsis factor out of it.

Yeah I understand all of that, but your second paragraph is what pretty much made me disappointed. Although it was cool to see Stan not be a cynical douche anymore. He’s been like that forever.

On one hand, you can be happy to see a prick like Cartman get what he deserves. On the other you can still feel bad for him because it has been shown he can grow and change.
Yet I argue that makes the Cartman we know even worse. We know now that there is capacity for him to be a better person, he just won't take that leap on his own accord.

The funny thing is, this isn't even the first time that Cartman kind of screwed himself over thanks to time travel. That was from the episode when the parents hire a bunch of actors to pretend to be the kid's future selves to scare them away from drugs, except the Future Cartman is actually real.

Yeah, I was reminded of that episode too. We know Cartman can turn his life around if he really wanted. Instead, he's just staying the course and often doubling down instead of making an effort to change.

I'm of the mind that Cartman completely deserves the ending he got.
