I was thinking who might be Shibata's opponent on 1/4, and I'm electing Suzuki, because who knows what tomorrow may bring. You only die twice.

Shibata and Tanahashi would been a nice matchup as well NJPW doesn't like triple threats but this is one of those years where it would made sense to do a triple threat with Tana, KENTA and Shibata for the U.S. title

Also looks like the card for night 3 (the NOAH cross promotion show) should be announced tomorrow:

Why does SANADA vs. O-Kahn feel like a must-win for both guys? SANADA's had a pretty stop-start trajectory since that world title feud with Okada (where he only won one match), and Kahn's still being built up as a gradual threat and I assume he's going up the card soon.

Night one looks really good on paper. Ishii vs EVIL for 3 years ago wouldve been a banger, would be nice for them to actually go all out.

I'm impressed with the cards, even if it feels kind of wild to have Shibata come back, but with a secret opponent, unless they'll announce them before the show.
Also, I get why, and I think Romero is deserving of a title shot since he's a former champion and all, etc, but is this going to be a source of tension within CHAOS, going after Robbie's tag belt? I guess part of the point of CHAOS is approaching it like prize fighters, rather than a collection of tight-knit friends, so, it's business. Plus, not like Romero was party to Taguchi taking a swing at the champs.

X for Shibata’s match is either Minoru Suzuki, Jay White, Kazushi Sakuraba, or…..Bryan Danielson.

I don't see any non-announced Gaijin taking part in WK due to Omicron screwing things up. Just the likes of Chase Owens etc. in KoPW stuff. For Shibata's opponent, Suzuki feels like the glaring omission from the card, so he would be the best choice, unless he's sitting WK out.
Naito vs Cobb feels like a de-factor Heavyweight No. 1 Contender's match for New Beginnings. I could see SANADA vs O-Khan filling a similar role for the US or Openweight belt as well. I do think SANADA winning singles gold will be a big arc of 2022.

Naito vs Cobb feels like a de-factor Heavyweight No. 1 Contender's match for New Beginnings. That thinking has me a bit concerned that Ospreay walks out with the title, leading to the long-awaited Naito/Ospreay match they were building to in Spring 2020.
