Now we have to watch one of the GOAT’s try and make a lumbering plank of wood look good. Calling AJ Styles a lumbering plank of wood is taking things too far.

Apparently, it's being rumored that AJ Styles is going face to head down to NXT 2.0 and feud with Greyson Waller, filling the void of veteran works that Kyle O'Reilly and Johnny Gargano have left, as well as prop up ratings for the show. I miss when the developmental show was for developmental. Like I get it but... I just wish they'd make up their damn minds. NXT spent years as a superindie which I, personally really enjoyed, but which apparently did not fit within WWE's vision for the brand, or whatever. So they "rebooted" it and turned it back into developmental. But, predictably, that has cratered ratings and probably pissed USA off, so here we are roughly two months after this "major rebrand" and AJ Styles is being sent down to NXT 2.0 to try and spark some interest. So, is NXT 2.0 really just NXT, except the Nasty Boys apparently hijacked the logo design? Either treat NXT as a "third brand," or treat it as its own independent developmental entity, but stop trying to make it both. That's what I've always disliked about NXT. It's insulting to the fanbase when stuff happens like Gargano and Ciampa being in a blood feud, but suddenly being best friends again when they pop up on the main roster because NXT is supposed to be treated as a separate continuity, apparently, but also guys from the main roster frequently take trips down to NXT as part of storylines that play out on the main roster.

Omos is gonna crash to earth hard. He already got booed taking AJ out, and if it was to write AJ off the main roster?? That's even worse Omos can't work, he has a presence but he can't cut a promo, he can't act, Orton had to scream at him to literally do anything simple during a match. He's got the size, but that's literally it, and that just doesn't impress a wrestling crowd like it used to when you're just bumbling and awkward in ring to go with it. AJ was covering the in ring work HARD for him, him going solo might not make it past the Rumble TBH. You know they want him to have a huge elimination spree because giant... but hoo wee are they gonna have an impossible task making this guy do most anything else... I watched the segment of him beating down Styles and just thought “This guys career is dead”. He is not ready for singles at all. The Great Khali was more ready. He needs a mouthpiece and very, very, very short matches if this is going to work.

AJ going to NXT, yeah I’d be all for that.
I really think Omos is going to be exposed. When he’s on his own, you can only do the smoke and mirrors for so long and then his flaws will be apparent.

The thing is, as much as they haven’t been sure what to do with NXT, the direction they had it at one point (vets and rookies mixing it up) is likely the most obvious one to take. It was right before it became a super Indy and, really, should have been the way to go instead of being the billion dollar version of PWG. Like, I have no problem for people like Styles and such to be down there but I also sort of think Styles shouldn’t be the one going down there full time. You have enough vets there you can rebuild, your Gulaks, your Tozawas, even your Ricochets and the like, who would benefit from having more TV time and they’re good enough hands to guide these rookies through having TV time. Styles you need more on the main roster and I really can’t see the benefit of him being a full timer down there when he’s already a big enough established name and won enough belts and with more to do up there. The women on the other hand? Unless they’re hoping Rok-C is going to be their vet to help that division, they need people down there ASAP and they fired most of them.

Agreed. If NXT is developmental then keep it separate from the main roster. If AJ comes down there and wrestles someone then in a year they call that person up with a new name and gimmick is AJ supposed to pretend they have never met? I guess so because Vince is a goldfish so he expects viewers to be.
