Now that you mention it I'm kinda cheesed off that Moxley is billed from Las Vegas, but he's not a Professional Poker Player. Even NXT has one of those. Yeah, from the known international gambling hotbed of… Adelaide, South Australia.

I'm not sure how to break this news to you, but Native Americans are from places in America.

Her character isn’t literally supposed to be some sort of savage beast. Just like Jungle Boy isn’t literally supposed to be a tarzan
It’s just a nickname

I just feel if you are going to have a Russian character, have that person be announced from Russia. If you have a surfer character, have that person be from somewhere near a beach. The same goes for a savage character. Define "Savage character."

In English! In Complete Sentences!

The song Welcome To The Jungle is about life in the big city. Just sayin. Makes sense why they have fun AND games. Lot of small towns, you're lucky if they have a Target and a bowling alley.

I think people struggle with this notion of gimmicks in AEW, when I think they're pretty clear.
One of the things that's important to understand about them is that it's sort of a "post-kayfabe" structure, where the wrestlers are acknowledged as playing a gimmick in universe. Like, everyone knows Luchasaurus isn't really a dinosaur. His gimmick is not literally 'an old dinosaur' it's 'a wrestler pretending to be a dinosaur because it's fun and gets the crowd excited.' That's why they've used wrestlers going 'He's not a dinosaur!' for heel heat. Because the idea is that the babyfaces and us are all in on the same joke. I actually love this about them and it is, to me, why the broken gimmick didn't connect with Matt Hardy. Because it isn't consistent with the way wild gimmicks work in the rest of AEW.
So yeah, Nyla isn't a savage character. She's a lady who has a savage aesthetic to freak out her opponents.

The word savage by itself is not a slur or offensive, but in the context used here could absolutely be considered both. Just because a word CAN have an inappropriate meaning doesn’t mean it always does. Context is key. I really feel that is lost on a lot of people these days. “Malakai Black is laying a savage beat down on Griff Garrison”. Appropriate. Nobody would bat an eye at that statement. Mistaking Native Beast for Savage Beast? Whoa boy 😳 EDIT: Or the word “Boy” for example. Calling someone Boy can have two wildly different meanings depending on the context and who you’re saying it too. I feel that’s a reasonably close comparison.

Pretty sure I said that, given the context it could absolutely be considered both. It’s right there in the opening sentence actually. But Savage isn’t like the N-Word where it’s inappropriate in any context outside of actually discussing the word itself and the effects, power and hate it can convey. I’m a strong proponent of demonising context not words whenever possible, (some words, like the aforementioned N-word, basically have no context where they’re appropriate but alot of them do) which is why I pointed out how the context of the OP’s use would fall into the category of inappropriate.

Wild that she was able to transition from the jungle where she comes from, there must be some great and cooperative doctors over there.

When new, short haired Trent gets angry he turns into Miro.
You wouldn't like him when he's Angry
