They did enough to drive me away basically. I keep up with it, watch off something is really interesting but yeah, I can't find a reason to care which is something I NEVER thought I'd say.

It's been my most checked out period of fandom. The last full show I watched was Mania 2018, which was a miserable experience. Nothing they're doing now peeks my interest in the slightest.

I have reached the point for the first time ever where over two months worth of raw were clogging up my sky planner and I just couldn’t bring myself to start working through them - not even with the ability to fast forward through the parts I didn’t want to see (which I have been doing for years). I just deleted them unwatched.
I used to be so excited to watch raw on a Tuesday and it would be the first thing I did after finishing work. Sometimes I would even watch live at 1am in the morning when I was off. So the swing from huge fan to complete disillusionment has been extreme, and it is sad.
Falling out of love is usually a slow process, the culmination of lots of little things over time. That has certainly been the case with me and WWE. I will doubtless be back, but I am taking time off for the time being.

I actually really enjoyed last year, but maybe that's because it was my first year back for a while. But this year has been terrible.

The years I realized that they're not even trying to capitalize on their stars anymore, and that the brand was never going to try to engage fans unless their backs were against the wall.

The years they stopped pretending they were actually trying, and only cared about making money while putting in as little effort as possible.
We'll get breadcrumbs here and there (Roman's initial heel turn, the rise of Bianca) but they always manage to Vince it up.

At this point, what's even left to say? They have a formula and a brand name, and the inertia from that will keep raking in diminishing returns.
Will WWE outlive Vince McMahon? I don't know, but I doubt there's a person posting in this thread who cares less than he does.

Despite all the stuff said in this thread and elsewhere, I think people are too nice to the WWE's product.
They vehemently are in need of a creative and executive revival. A lot of top guys need to go. Starting with Vince, and trickle it down.

I think it was poor (especially Raw) during that period where Corbin reigned, and then the time with Heyman in charge of Raw just seemed off. But I think Smackdown has been fantastic TV since Reigns return and heel turn last year. Raw has also gotten gradually better and I think is a very solid weekly watch (on DVR, of course- no one should be sitting through commercials for any show if possible).

Last time I was invested in WWE was the Kofi/Bryan match at Mania.
These days, I barely read the recaps. Good thing we have a strong alternative now.

I haven't watched a single bit of WWE footage this year, for the first time ever, and the worst bit is I don't even miss it.

Some would say that Hell In A Cell 2018 ending in a No-Contest was the beginning of a slow decline. The f***ing No Contest in a Hell in a Cell match is what finally convinced me to stop watching WWE after almost a decade of waning interest. Hard to believe it's already been three years.

Some of the great moments/characters of the last 3 years:
1) Lashley’s rise to prominence/dominance: his pairing with MVP and the change in his presentation legitimized him as an absolute main eventer.
2) Edge’s Rumble return and comeback. The return itself was an all-time moment, and apart from the Orton Mania match being too long, his work has been better than ever. Still has a lot of dream matches on the table too.
3) Becky’s rise to the top. In the past 3 years, Becky went from rising underdog to the Man, main eventing Wrestlemania and becoming a legit pillar of the company.
4) Tribal Chief Reigns. Unbelievable character work, with Smackdown becoming must watch TV since Reigns’ turn. Whether it was the overall presentation with Heyman, the early Usos storyline, the feuds with Bryan and Edge, or the current interweaving storyline with Lesnar and Heyman, he’s been consistently hitting it out of the park.
5) KofiMania: An unbelievable run up to the title and then a strong reign to follow. Credit to WWE for completely switching course mid-Mania build.
6) Bianca Belair: she’s been built up to become a legitimate main event talent, culminating in a 5-star Mania main event with Sasha.
7) Daniel Bryan: Bryan returned to the ring in 2018, and went on fantastic heel and face runs, showing that he’s still the best in the world (and continues to do so in AEW today).
8) Bayley: she came into her own as a heel during this period and pretty much carried the company through the early part of the pandemic.
9) Rise of McIntyre: in this 3 year span, Drew went from Dolph henchman to a legitimate face of the company for the year 2020, including a great Rumble moment eliminating Lesnar and then a string of great defenses through 2020 against varied opponents.
10) The Cena Firefly Funhouse Match and the Undertaker Boneyard match were just awesome and creative masterpieces during a weird, dark time early in the pandemic that brought some much needed entertainment. WWE got similarly creative with the Stamford Money in the Bank match and the Edge-Orton greatest match ever.
More recently, face Lesnar, Big E and RKBro have been consistent highlights.

Absolutely agree with all of that, the problem is we could probably do a counter list twice as long with everything that has been bad in the last three years. Its like a football team scoring a great goal every so often but still losing every match 5-1.

This thread was inspired by one in the AEW section. After reading both threads I have come to a simple conclusion :
AEW is better because it gives fans what they want, most of the time.

I’ve barely watched since the Hell in the Cell ending and Brock squashing Kofi. I’ve only followed them through clips. And other than maybe a few glimmers of good, WWE seems to be at its most miserable.

Was hoping that the birth of AEW would give WWE the kick up the backside it needs to actually put in some effort. Clearly not.
The frustrating thing is the potential to be a good product is there, its just those incharge aren't interested..and if they're not then why should I?
