Today in Ring of Honor History: January 10

- 2004: Ring of Honor kicked off what would be a year of major changes with "The Battle Lines Are Drawn" in Wilmington, OH. "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels, ROH's top heel since its inception and the only wrestler to appear on every single DVD up until that point, wrestled what ended up being his final match in his initial run. That match was the first in the feud between The Prophecy and the Second City Saints, and was BJ Whitmer's first match as a member of The Prophecy. The Briscoe Brothers defended the ROH Tag Team Championship against the dream team of Samoa Joe and Bryan Danielson, while Homicide and AJ Styles wrestled against each other for the first time ever. Joey Matthews wrestled his final match before signing with WWE, and Lucy Furr [Daffney - RIP] made her final appearance as a member of the Second City Saints, while Caprice Coleman made his debut, and Matt Stryker and Alex Shelley competed in the very first Pure Rules match. And speaking of debuts and farewells, Abyss made both when he debuted as the new insurance policy of Special K (that policy was cut short due to the Rob Feinstein Controversy).

- Promo time with The Prophecy. Christopher Daniels said everyone has a weakness, including ROH World Champion Samoa Joe, and one day Daniels will capitalize on that weakness and become the new champion because it is his destiny. Daniels then turned his attention to the Second City Saints, and said The Prophecy is going to end them in one shot like they did The Group. There are casualties in war, and in this war, all the Second City Saints are going to get out of it is a body count.

- Samoa Joe hosted "Samoa Joe's Ring", demonstrating the Abdominal Stretch. Bryan Danielson interrupted, demonstrating a better way to do the stretch. Joe and Danielson continued to stretch and beat their poor training volunteers in various attempts to out-teach the other one. Joe told Danielson if he can do half of what claims he can, tonight they'll be the new ROH Tag Team Champions. Danielson said that Tag titles are going to be his first belt in Ring of Honor, and Joe's ROH World Championship is going the be the second.

1. Matt Stryker beat Alex Shelley in a Pure Rules match

2. Nigel McGuinness (c) beat Cody Hawk to retain the HWA Heavyweight Championship. McGuinness got busted open mid-match doing a spot that would become infamous two years later, with Hawk repeatedly pulling McGuinness headfirst into the ring post. Shortly thereafter Hawk give McGuinness a Muscle Buster, and coincidentally was never seen in ROH again.

- Colt Cabana hosted "Good Times, Great Memories" with special guest Ace Steel. Steel talked about winning a bowling tournament with his mom as a kid, and how it inspired him to be a pro wrestler. In a moment that would definitely not become extremely awkward a couple months later, as a surprise Cabana asked Rob Feinstein to bring in Ace's bowling trophy, but instead it was brough in by a boy who looked like he was 12 or 13. When asked where Feinstein was, the kid said he was in the bathroom, and he has to go to the bathroom too. Cabana then talked about what inspired him to become a pro wrestler: entering a hopscotch tournament to earn the love of his son, and winning it by beating a mentally disabled little person with one leg. CM Punk burst in yelling at them to stop talking about peglegged midgets and get serious. This isn't a wrestling match against The Prophecy tonight, it’s a fight. It took Christopher Daniels six months to take out The Group, but the Second City Saints are going to take out The Prophecy in one night.

3. Chris Sabin beat Jimmy Jacobs to qualify for the ROH Pure Wrestling Championship tournament at the "Second Anniversary Show"



4. Four Corner Survival match: Caprice Coleman vs. Jimmy Rave vs. Rainman vs. Todd Sexton

{Spoiler}Jimmy Rave beat Caprice Coleman, Rainman and Todd Sexton in a Four Corner Survival match. Post match in the locker room, AJ Styles congratulated Rave said he's finally got it, and now he's ready to face him.

5. AJ Styles beat Homicide. Mid-match Homicide hit a Tope con Hilo that landed him in the seventh row and seemed to have legitimately knocked himself out. Several officials ran out to check on him, but he eventually got up said he wanted to continue, so they said okay and let him (remember this is pre-Benoit). If you read any review of the match, this is the turning point in the match as Homicide stops selling moves and the match falls apart.

D. Mike Mondo beat Seth Skyfire in a try-out match for Ohio Valley Wrestling

- Les Thatcher was backstage to fill in for Gary Michael Cappetta, and interviewed the Carnage Crew. Thatcher told them Special K has a new member, but the Carnage Crew doesn't care. They work crappy jobs for shit pay and have to put up with their ugly wives nagging them while their stupid kids listening to awful techno music, so once again they're going to take out all their anger and frustration on Special K.

6. Special K (Dixie, Hydro, Joey Matthews & Slim J w/Mellow & Becky Bayless) beat the Carnage Crew (Loc & DeVito) & The Ring Crew Express (Dunn & Marcos) in a Tag Team Scramble match. Slim J pinned Loc after Abyss ran in and attacked him. Post match Abyss single handedly took out DeVito and the Ring Crew Express.



7. ROH World Tag Team Championship: Briscoe Brothers (Jay & Mark Briscoe) (c) vs. Samoa Joe & Bryan Danielson

8. Second City Saints (CM Punk, Colt Cabana & Ace Steel w/Tracy Brooks) vs. The Prophecy (Christopher Daniels, Dan Maff & BJ Whitmer w/Allison Danger) in a Six-Man Tag Team match ended in a no contest. The match was thrown out after repeated brawls on the floor, Danger and Brooks fighting each other, and finally Whitmer accidently knocking the referee out with a steel chair. Post match both teams continued to brawl for almost ten minutes, with Lucy Furr running out to attack Whitmer, until the Saints ended it by giving Daniels a triple-teamed Pepsi Plunge through a table. Several officials, referees and wrestlers (including Jimmy Jacobs which got a "Huss!" chant) ran out to check on Daniels, while the ring announcer asked fans to leave.

- Alex Shelley said mistakes were made in his match tonight, but by making them he's actually now a step ahead of everyone else in the Pure Wrestling division, and 2004 is his year.

- Special K is backstage partying with Abyss.

- CM Punk is backstage with the Second City Saints. He said in war you have to sacrifice, and no one sacrificed more tonight than the Saints to make Christopher Daniels the first casualty. Now that he's done, they're coming for all the gold in ROH.

- After ejecting the fans and partially taking apart they ring, officials were finally able to use a table to stretcher Christopher Daniels to the back.

- Backstage Dan Maff blamed BJ Whitmer for dropping the ball, and said if it wasn't for him Christopher Daniels would be backstage celebrating their victory instead of going to the hospital. Maff said they went into the match taking the Saints easy, but now it's all out war.

Today in Ring of Honor History: January 11

- 2003: Ring of Honor kicked off their second year by expanding westward with "Revenge of the Prophecy" in West Mifflin, PA just outside of Pittsburgh. The feud between Low Ki and Christopher Daniels that began on ROH's debut show came to a close in a No Holds Barred match, with Ki teaming with AJ Styles to face Daniels and his Prophecy teammate, ROH Champion Xavier. The Prophecy added a new member to their ranks, Allison Danger, following the defections of Samoa Joe and Simply Luscious to Steve Corino's new faction The Group. Joe would be the only member of The Group in action tonight, taking on Bryan Danielson in their first singles match in ROH. Another heated feud came to a close when Da Hit Squad and the Carnage Crew met in a Weapons match to settle things once and for all. After a showing at "Final Battle 2002" so disastrous it was cut from the video release, Konnan returned to redeem himself in a Six-Man Tag Team match. Colt Cabana, Homicide, Paul London and the debuting BJ Whitmer competed in a Four Corner Survival match that not only stole the show, but made the match a staple in ROH. And making their debuts as well, Matt Stryker and future two-time ROH World Champion Jay Lethal and new Special K member "Hydro".

- 2008: Two weeks after "Final Battle 2007" ROH was back in action with their first show of 2008, "Proving Ground", taking place in Boston, MA. New ROH World Tag Team Champions The Age of the Fall found ROH putting the screws to them early, with their first defense being an Ultimate Endurance match against The Hangmen 3, The Vulture Squad, and recently defeated former champions The Briscoes. Hoping to start him out strong, but inadvertently lining him up with the ramp to launch him over the shark, Erick Stevens defended his newly won FIP World Heavyweight Championship against his former leader in The Resilience and one of ROH's most popular wrestlers, Austin Aries. Kevin Steen and El Generico found themselves fighting on multiple fronts, with Steen facing Necro Butcher in a Street Fight which The Age of the Fall hoped would be a preemptive strike, leaving Generico on his own to watch out for The Hangmen 3. The YRR, returning to ROH in full force, looked to make a name for themselves, as did Sweet n' Sour, Inc.'s newest acquisition, $1,000,000 Tough Enough winner Daniel Puder, who took on debuting local wrestler Mike Bennett.

- 2020: Ring of Honor looked for 2020 to be a year for change for them, and it was in more ways than one, kicking off with "Saturday Night at Center Stage 2020" in Atlanta, GA. The first show in the Marty Scurll Era, it was a new year with new champions, as new ROH World Champion PCO, new ROH World Television Champion Dragon Lee, and new ROH World Tag Team Champions Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham looked to make statements. Following the shocking result of "Final Battle 2019", PCO defended his title in a rematch against former champion Rush. Backing up Rush was his newly formed La Facción Ingobernable with his brother Dragon Lee, Kenny King, and Amy Rose. PCO had his team Villain Enterprises watching his back, but they also had their hands full defending the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship against Bandido, Flamita and Rey Horus. Lee defended his new title against Andrew Everett, and given the two competitors you can be sure it was a grounded match with a lot of rest holds that moved along at a snail's pace. Gresham, backed by partner Lethal, looked to take out future challenger Josh Woods, backed by his partner Silas Young. NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis made his surprising return, Shane Taylor played hardball with Ring of Honor COO Joe Koff, Maria Manic nearly put Bully Ray in his place, and the unthinkable happened when Sumie Sakai, the first ever Women of Honor World Champion and someone proclaimed "the sweetest person you'd ever meet" by Caprice Coleman and Ian Riccaboni, turned heel.

- In an interview taped at "Final Battle 2002", Steve Corino confirmed he is starting an elite Group in ROH to capture all the titles, and introduced the first member, his girlfriend and The Prophecy's valet, Simply Luscious. In a backstage interview on the January 1 episode of High Impact TV, Corino introduced the second member, The Prophecy's hired muscle Samoa Joe (wearing an "I Killed Curry Man" hat). On the January 8 episode, The Group paid a visit to The Prophecy, who introduced them to their newest member, Corino's sister Allison Danger. Corino told The Prophecy to shine their championship belts up, because they're taking them away.

- Special K, with new members, hijacked the opening of the show. Deranged said they're very excited to be here in Cleveland, but not as excited as the fans are to see them here in Erie, and the reason they came here to Buffalo was to show what Ring of Honor is really about: drugs and partying. Special K's party was broken up by Da Hit Squad and The S.A.T., who beat them up. Mafia then welcomed the fans to Ring of Honor.

- Footage of Simply Lucious and Allison Danger getting into a fight during the meet and greet before the show.

- Paul London talked about his Four Corner Survival match, and how winning it could put him into the new Top 5 ranking system.

- CM Punk promo, saying his match against Michael Shane isn't just a rematch, its redemption. When he made his debut in November in the #1 Contender gauntlet, Shane beat him in the first match by holding the ropes, and every time he thinks about it he gets angrier. Tonight Punk evens the score, or he won't be able to live with himself.

3. Konnan & Divine Storm (Chris Divine & Quiet Storm) (w/Trinity) beat The S.A.T. (Jose & Joel Maximo) & Ghost Shadow in a Six-Man Tag Team match. Konnan made Ghost Shadow tap out to the Tequila Sunrise.

4. Da Hit Squad (Mafia & Monsta Mack) beat the Carnage Crew (Loc & DeVito) in a Weapons match. Finish saw Mafia give Loc a Sitout Powerbomb onto DeVito through a table.

5. Special K (Deranged, Hydro, Angel Dust & Yeyo w/Lit & Slugger) beat The Ring Crew Express (Dunn & Marcos) & The Outcast Killaz (Diablo Santiago & Oman Tortuga) in a Tag Team Scramble match. Special K won after Slugger gave Dunn a Bodybag in the middle of the ring, and the referee (who's officiating his first match) just let it go.

6. Paul London beat BJ Whitmer, Colt Cabana and Homicide in a Four Corner Survival match. Finish saw Whitmer giving Cabana a series of Dragon Suplexes, ended in a bridging one for a pin attempt, but London hit a London Star Press onto Whitmer for the win. Post match all four group hugged.

7. Samoa Joe beat Bryan Danielson

- A promo from Low Ki and AJ Styles. Ki said when he and Styles compete, it's out of a love and respect for pro wrestling, which is why they are in Ring of Honor. Tonight however, they're fighting out of a hatred for The Prophecy. He said he gave everything he had for the ROH Championship, and he hasn't forgotten how Xavier beat him for it. Ki has three goals for 2003, and tonight he takes care of the first one.

8. Low Ki & AJ Styles beat The Prophecy (Christopher Daniels & Xavier w/Allison Danger) in a No Holds Barred match. Near the end of the match, Low Ki crushed Xavier's chest with one of the concrete blocks used for the guard rails, the same way Xavier did to him when he lost the ROH Championship. Finish saw Styles take out Daniels with a Styles Clash off the ring apron through a table, while Low Ki made Xavier tap out to a Dragon Clutch in the ropes.

- Backstage Allison Danger checked on Christopher Daniels, and said they just took Xavier to the hospital for suspected broken ribs. Daniels said Low Ki and AJ Styles got lucky tonight, but when you face The Prophecy, you only need to be unlucky once. Daniels told Danger she became a full fledge member of The Prophecy tonight, and as Steve Corino's sister she's going to be integral to them in their fight against The Group. Daniels told Corino if he wants a war with The Prophecy, cast the first stone.

- Rebecca Bayless tried to interview Austin Aries about his match for the FIP World Heavyweight Championship, but Aries said to get the camera out of his face and walked off.

1. The YRR (Jason Blade & Kenny King w/Chasyn Rance & Sal Rinauro) beat Pelle Primeau & Eddie Edwards. Post match Rinauro said they're young, rich, and ready for action; they're tougher than any street gang, and prettier than any boy band. Then he made the mistake of pointing out Blade and King beat the Briscoes for the FIP Tag Team Championship, which pissed off dem boys who ran out and beat the crap out of them. Jay told The YRR they'll get the FIP Tag titles back, but they'll do that in Florida. Tonight is about The Age of the Fall, and bringing the ROH World Tag Team Championship back home to the Briscoes.

2. Daizee Haze beat Alexa Thatcher

- Erick Stevens was backstage, and said he told everyone when he came back from his suspension he was bringing his game to a new level, and he proved the doubters wrong by winning the FIP World Heavyweight Championship at "Final Battle 2007". Now the hardest weekend of his career is here as he defends against Austin Aries and Bryan Danielson, but he's going to prove the doubters wrong again by pinning two of ROH's best clean in the middle of the ring.

3. Claudio Castagnoli beat Ruckus (w/Mercedes Martinez)

- Sweet n' Sour, Inc. came out, and the late great Larry Sweeney was annoyed when that slob Bobby Dempsey had the nerve to stand there and let the fans chant for him (an injured Chris Hero put him in his place by making him ROH's first human chair). Sweeney said there was good news and bad news. The bad being Hero, who was in a full leg brace and a neck brace, injured himself by valiantly attempting to break the Guinness World Record for most consecutive backflips, and thus is off tonight's show. The good news is all the bums and losers in attendance will get to see Sweeney's newest client Daniel Puder make his in-ring debut, and issued an open challenge to anyone in the back. Claudio Castagnoli came out to answer the challenge, but Sweeney had a pending restraining order against him, and ordered security to escort him to the back. Sweeney then issues a second challenge, which was answered by "the illustrious ring veteran" Mikey Bennett (who got a Conway Pop).

4. Daniel Puder (w/Sweet n' Sour, Inc.) beat Mikey Bennett. Dave Prazak and Lenny Leonard on commentary speculated if Sweeney paid off Bennett to take the match, as Puder beat him in seconds. Post match Sweeney called on the fans to honor Puder, "the man nobody can make tap out". Cue "The Final Countdown". Bryan Danielson said he saw when Puder should have made Kurt Angle tap out and his reputation precedes him, but Danielson's got some skill too, if they both want a match let's do it right now. Sweeney pumped the breaks and said there's no fight until the money is right, and all the cheering from the bums and scumbags in attendance isn't going to change that. Claudio Castagnoli then ran out and attacked Puder while Sweeney ran briskly walked to the back, and Chris Hero ordered Bobby Dempsey to carry him up the entrance ramp.

5. Bryan Danielson beat Brent Albright [this was the match that changed my opinion on Albright and made me like him]

- The Age of the Fall came out through the crowd, and Jimmy Jacobs informed the fans who'd been living under a rock that at "Final Battle 2007" him and Tyler Black beat "the gods of Ring of Honor" the Briscoes for the ROH World Tag Team Championship (and they didn't have to cheat to win like the Patriots). Jacobs said ROH stacked the deck against them tonight by having them defend against three teams, but they'll prove they're the best tag team tonight by taking out the competition. And speaking of competition, Kevin Steen and El Generico aren't in the match tonight, but Steen is facing the Necro Butcher, who doesn't play by anybody's rules, so he's in for the beating of his life.

6. Kevin Steen beat Necro Butcher (w/Lacey) in a Street Fight. Finish saw Necro challenge Steen to hit him in the head with a chair, so Steen did a big wind up, then kicked him in the balls and hit a Package Piledriver on the chair for the win. Post match Steen said he just took care of The Age of the Fall's Butcher, and there's no way he's scared of two kids who listen to Simple Plan. He said the ROH World Tag Team Championship are coming home to Canada.

- Backstage Rebecca Bayless interviewed Kevin Steen and El Generico in front of wall covered in graffiti. Steen said he's not feeling too good, so Generico's on his own against Roderick Strong. Then Steen asked Generico if he drew the penis on the wall, before struggling his way down the stairs.

7. Delirious beat Sal Rinauro (w/The YRR)

8. Roderick Strong beat El Generico. Post match The Hangmen 3 ran out and attacked Generico

- Backstage Rebecca Bayless checked on El Generico, and Kevin Steen walked in on the phone before asking what the hell happened to him. After saying it was "Los Hangmen" and "Hangmen Tres", Steen finally figured out he was talking about The Hangmen 3, and said their feud has been going on long enough. Steen told Brent Albright he hopes he has a good doctor, because tomorrow night he's going to break his goddamn neck.

9. Erick Stevens (c) beat Austin Aries to retain the FIP World Heavyweight Championship. The match initially ended in a double count out when they fought into the crowd, but Stevens demanded the match be restarted. Stevens then pinned Aries clean in the middle of the ring. Post match Stevens offered Aries a handshake, but Aries walked away.

- Dave Prazak and Lenny Leonard gave an update on ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness, who had recovered from his injuries at "Rising Above" and was on a tour of Pro Wrestling NOAH, where he was scheduled to defend the championship against Go Shiozaki.

10. The Age of the Fall (Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black w/Lacey) (c) beat The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe), The Hangmen 3 (Brent Albright & BJ Whitmer) (w/Shane Hagadorn) and The Vulture Squad (Jack Evans & Jigsaw w/Mercedes Martinez) in an Ultimate Endurance match to retain the ROH World Tag Team Championship
- The first fall was a Tag Team Scramble match. Albright pinned Jigsaw after a Half-Nelson Suplex to eliminate The Vulture Squad.
- The second fall was a No Disqualification match. An interesting moment came early on when former friends turned extremely bitter enemies Whitmer and Jacobs both produced spikes, but instead of attacking each other they decided to focus on the Briscoes and eliminate them. That alliance ended when Black accidentally kicked Albright when he was aiming for Mark, and Whitmer gave him an Exploder Suplex in retaliation. A ladder that would give Jeff Hardy a wet dream was setup outside the ring, and Mark hit a Splash from it onto Whitmer in the center of the ring to eliminate The Hangmen 3.
- The final fall was a traditional championship match. Jacobs and Black both pinned Jay after a Contra Code/Phoenix Splash combo to win the match.

- Post show Rebbeca Bayless interviewed The YRR, who were all partying except for Sal Rinauro, who was upset about losing to Delirious. The others told to forget that because he's still the FIP Florida Heritage Champion, they've still got the FIP Tag Team Championship, they've got beautiful women, they got Rebecca Bayless…at which point Sal gave her a very long, hard kiss, because that's how YRR do.

1. Dragon Lee (c) beat Andrew Everett to retain the ROH World Television Championship. Post match Lee draped the championship belt over Lee and stood on top of it.

- Bully Ray came out and began hassling Caprice Coleman on commentary, telling him he couldn't hack it in the ring and he's horrible at commentary. Bully got in the ring and ordered Bobby Cruise to bring him a microphone, then shoved him to the ground and ordered him to go sit back down. After berating the fans, Bully said all week he's been reading about how Maria Manic was going to call him out, but he's a 30-year veteran, you don't call him out, toots. Maria came out into the crowd, and Bully said she didn't have the guts to come down to the ring, which she did, then he said she didn't have the guts to get on the ring apron, which she did, then he said she didn't have the guts to get into the ring, which she did. Maria attacked Bully and Bobby Cruise personally brought her a chair to use on him. A table was set up in the ring and Maria tried to powerbomb Bully through it, but The Allure ran out and attacked her, with Angelina Love hitting her in the face with a stiletto heel. Bully then gave her a splash through the table before yelling at Caprice Coleman and Bobby Cruise some more while officials ran out to check on Maria.

2. The Allure (Angelina Love & Mandy Leon) beat Sumie Sakai & Nicole Savoy. Finish saw Sumie hold Leon so Savoy could kick her, but Leon ducked and Nicole hit Sumie instead. Love then shoved Savoy out of the ring while Leon pinned Sumie. Post match Savoy apologized to Sumie, who shook her hand, then kicked her and hit Smash Mouth, before spitting on her and walking out.

3. Dak Draper beat Jason Cade. Post match Draper gave Cade a Participation Ribbon.

4. Jonathan Gresham (w/Jay Lethal) beat Josh Woods (w/Silas Young) by count out. Near the end of the match the referee ejected Silas and Lethal for repeated interference. As Lethal was leaving, he hit Woods in the back of the knee with his ROH World Tag Team Championship belt. Gresham then went outside the ring and put Woods in a Figure Four, breaking the hold getting back in the ring right before the referee counted to 20.

- They aired a vignette for newly signed Australian wrestler Slex [who's ROH run was cut extremely short due to the pandemic]

5. The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) beat LifeBlood (Mark Haskins & Tracy Williams) and Jeff Cobb & Dan Maff in a Three-Way Tag Team match. Finish saw Williams lock Mark in a crossface, but Jay broke it by powerboming Haskins onto him. Jay then hit a J-Driller on Williams, with Mark getting the pin.

- Danhausen joined commentary and asked Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman if they were enjoying "Saturday Nighthausen at Center Stagehausen", before plugging his match the following night at "Honor Reigns Supremehausen". Ian said he was excited for that while Caprice frantically mouthed for someone to send help.

- Shane Taylor Promotions came out, and Shane Taylor present his counter offer to ROH COO Joe Koff to re-sign with Ring of Honor: guaranteed titles shots for the ROH World Championship and ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship, his likeness on every ROH event poster going forward, and the single highest paying per-fight contract in ROH history. Taylor gave Koff until the next night to make his decision.

6. Bandido, Flamita & Rey Horus beat Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll, Brody King & Flip Gordon) (c) to WIN THE ROH WORLD SIX-MAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP!!! Bandido pinned Scurll when he called for the Chicken Wing. Post match MexiSquad celebrated with the fans.

7. PCO (c) beat Rush by disqualification to retain the ROH World Championship. Midway through the match Rush pulled the referee down in his place when PCO went for a PCO-Sault, knocking him out. La Facción Ingobernable ran out and attacked, followed by Villain Enterprises out to fight them off. Rush laid out PCO with a chair then hit a Senton off the top rope, but by the time another referee got to the ring PCO was able to kick out at two. Rush reacted to this setback in a calm, rational manner by giving the new referee the Bulls Horns, resulting in a disqualification. Post match Rush tried to powerbomb PCO through a table, but Flip Gordon ran out to stop him, only for NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis to run out through the crowd dressed like a police officer to attack Flip. After Aldis bailed, Marty Scurll and Brody King checked on PCO, when LFI ran back out and attacked them with chairs. LFI then finally put PCO through a table with a triple-teamed Powerbomb/Double Stomp combo.

Today in Ring of Honor History: January 12

- 2008: ROH completed their opening weekend with "Transform" in Edison, NJ. While when most think back on The Age of the Fall, they think of their feuds with Aries, the Briscoes, or Steen and Generico, but most forget one of their first was against The Vulture Squad, and the two met that night in a chaotic brawl. Kevin Steen continued his feud with The Hangmen 3 when he took on Brent Albright in a match where he vowed to break his goddamn neck. After being lined up with the ramp the night before, new FIP World Heavyweight Champion Erick Stevens completed his jump over the shark when he defended against Bryan Danielson, the best wrestler in the world. Meanwhile, Steven's victim from the night before, Austin Aries continued his moody downward slide when he took on Claudio Castagnoli, who was finally able to get his hand on Larry Sweeney's new toy Daniel Puder. Due to budget cuts, this marked Puder's final appearance in ROH, bringing to a close (at least in America) the weird saga of WWE's $1,000,000 Tough Enough winner. But it was not all bad for Sweet n' Sour, Inc., as in recognition of their abilities as the best male and female wrestlers in the world, Larry Sweeney crowned Chris Hero and Sara Del Rey the "World Heavyweight Intergender Tag Team Champions of the World".

- 2019: Ring of Honor began 2019 with a television taping in Atlanta, GA. Following the departures of The Elite and SCU at the end of 2018, ROH looked to rebuild its roster bringing in several new stars, the bulk of whom were in ROH's newest faction LifeBlood: New Japan wrestlers Juice Robinson and David Finlay, British wrestler Mark Haskins, longtime indy wrestler Tracy Williams, the returning Tenille Dashwood, and debuting rising star and future ROH World Champion Bandido. Marty Scurll's newly formed faction Villain Enterprises looked to quickly establish themselves, entering into a feud with ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions The Kingdom. New ROH World Tag Team Champions The Briscoes were booked to make their first defense of the year against Best Friends, but Beretta had to pull out of the show, leaving Chuckie T to team with a really, really good friend, Colt Cabana. ROH World Television Champion Jeff Cobb found new challengers gearing up to face him in the form of Silas Young and Shane Taylor. And strengthening the partnership between Ring of Honor and the National Wrestling Alliance, Nick Aldis defended the NWA World Heavyweight Championship against PJ Black. Meanwhile, Chris Sabin, who had competed off and on for ROH since 2003 before making it his home 2016, wrestled what would be his last match in Ring of Honor when he was injured competing in a Six Man Mayhem match.

- 2020: ROH closed out their opening weekend with "Honor Reigns Supreme 2020" in Concord, NC. Villain Enterprises and La Facción Ingobernable both looked to cement themselves as the dominant faction in ROH when they met in a Six-Man Tag Team match. ROH World Tag Team Champions Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham teamed with big boys Jeff Cobb and Dan Maff to face upcoming challengers 2 Guys 1 and their partners The Bouncers, but ended up making more enemies than friends. The new ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions found themselves competing in singles action, with Bandido taking on the debuting Alex Zayne, who quickly made a name for himself, Flamita going against the perpetually angry Flip Gordon, and Rey Horus battling fellow high flyer Andrew Everett. Still waiting to hear back from ROH COO Joe Koff regarding his contract offer, Shane Taylor began using his time on ROH to plug his upcoming shows for other promotions. Sumie Sakai quickly embraced her new heelish instincts, while Maria Manic did what people wished someone would do for a very long time: shut Bully Ray up.

- The Briscoes are backstage, and said tonight ain't about the ROH World Tag Team Championship, it just about hurting The Age of the Fall.

1. The YRR (Jason Blade, Kenny King & Sal Rinauro w/Chasyn Rance) beat Delirious, El Generico & Mike Quackenbush in a Six-Man Tag Team match. Blade pinned Delirious after Rance hit him with one of his crutches behind the referee's back.

- Sweet n' Sour, Inc. came out, and Larry Sweeney had something to say to those New Jersey nitwits. Sweeney said tonight is historic for two reasons. The first is someone gets the chance to win $1,000 of Larry Sweeney's own money if they can last one minute with Daniel Puder. Sweeney issued an open challenge that was answered by Alex Payne.

2. Daniel Puder (w/Sweet n' Sour, Inc.) beat Alex Payne in a $1,000 Submission Challenge. Payne tapped out to a Cross Armbreaker in less than 30 seconds. Post match Puder said he's just getting warmed up, so Sweeney issues another open challenge, answered by Rhett Titus.

3. Daniel Puder (w/Sweet n' Sour, Inc.) beat Rhett Titus in a $1,000 Submission Challenge. Titus immediately jumped out of the ring when the bell sounded, but was tripped by Sweeney when Puder chased him around the ring. Puder threw him back into the ring, then locked him in a Kneebar for the win. Post match Puder said he was still good to go, so Sweeney issued a third open challenge, which was answered by Claudio Castagnoli. Sweeney had security block Castagnoli and escort him to the match, then said him being out there ruined the whole thing, so Puder is done for the night. After sending Puder to relax in the limo, Sweeney called out Bobby Dempsey for the second announcement. Dempsey brought a bag into the ring, but once fans started chanting for him, Sweeney slapped him and ordered him to the back because "I know Bobby Dempsey's big, but that isn't the big announcement". Sweeney said everyone knows Chris Hero is the best male wrestler in all of pro wrestling, and Sara Del Rey is the best female wrestler in all of pro wrestling, and now they are the World Heavyweight Intergender Tag Team Championship. Sweeney then called out Top of the Class Trophy holder Ernie Osiris and Alexa Thatcher to be the first challengers for the new belts.

4. Sweet n' Sour, Inc. (Chris Hero & Sara Del Rey w/Larry Sweeney) "(c)" beat Ernie Osiris & Alexa Thatcher to retain the "World Heavyweight Intergender Tag Team Championship". Hero was in a neck brace and full leg brace, meaning it wasn't a fair fight, but closer to one that if he were 100%. Finish saw Del Rey put Osiris in a Royal Butterfly, but Sweeney jumped on the ring apron to distract the referee, causing him to miss Osiris tapping out and allowing Del Rey to hold it on longer. Thatcher broke up the submission, but Hero took off his leg brace and whapped her across the face with it, before giving her a Roaring Elbow. Hero pinned Thatcher while Del Rey pinned Osiris.

5. Roderick Strong beat Jigsaw (w/Julius Smokes)

- Jimmy Jacobs came out and said you may not like it, but he's one half of the ROH World Tag Team Champions, so you have to listen to him. Jacobs said the fans were part of the "instant gratification generation", they all want something for nothing, they want it all and they want it now, they spend their weekends at the casino in Atlantic City trying to hit the jackpot…and Jack Evans music hits. Jacobs said they can't cut him off, he has a microphone, they have to listen, stand up and be counted. Evans tried to get in the ring, and Jacobs attacked him.

6. Jimmy Jacobs beat Jack Evans (w/Mercedes Martinez). Jacobs made Evans tap out to The End Time, and refused to break the hold once the match was over. The Vulture Squad tried to make the save, but were attacked by The Age of the Fall, until the Briscoes came out and chased them off.

- Kevin Steen is backstage, and said people are referring to his match with Brent Albright tonight as "The Battle of Bulls", which is the first time anyone's referred to him as a bull, but if gets him in the ring with Albright, fine, call him whatever you want. Steen said he usually doesn't feel bad about anything, but he feels bad because Generico's been by his side since they started in ROH, and he wasn't by Generico's side last night when The Hangmen 3 jumped him. Steen said all the anger and frustration he's felt because of The Hangmen 3 he's going to take out on Albright, and break his goddamn neck.

7. Claudio Castagnoli beat Austin Aries. Post match Aries once again blew off the Code of Honor handshake. Castagnoli got on the mic and said there were two things he had to say. First was after beating Aries, he's got a good shot at winning the ROH World Championship, so he's coming for Nigel McGuinness. Second, since Larry Sweeney only cares about money, he's issuing his own $1,000 Submission Challenge that Daniel Puder can't tap him out in one minute. After interrupting his luxuriating to verify Claudio had American money, Sweeney accepted the challenge.

8. Claudio Castagnoli beat Daniel Puder (w/Larry Sweeney) in a $1,000 Submission Challenge when Puder failed to submit him within one minute. Post match Puder knocked out Castagnoli with a kick to the head, and Sweeney hit an elbow drop onto a steel chair on him, before stealing the money and leaving.

- Rebecca Bayless interviewed Roderick Strong backstage, telling him he had an impressive weekend going 2-0. Strong said 2-0 isn't impressive, being ROH World Champion is, so first he's going to beat Nigel McGuinness for the ROH title, then he's going to beat Erick Stevens to reclaim the FIP World Heavyweight Championship, and become a double champion.

9. BJ Whitmer & Shane Hagadorn beat Eddie Edwards & Bobby Fish

10. Kevin Steen beat Brent Albright. Steen was busted open after Albright stomped a table into his face. Steen beat Albright with a Package Piledriver, but did not break his goddamn neck. Post match BJ Whitmer and Shane Hagadorn ran out and attacked Steen, with Whitmer trying to hang Steen with a noose. El Generico tried to make the save, but was beaten down by The Hangmen 3, until Red Poison Delirious ran out and fought them off.

11. Erick Stevens (c) beat Bryan Danielson to retain the FIP World Heavyweight Championship. The match originally ended in a double count out, but Stevens demanded it be restarted. Albright then pinned Danielson clean in the middle of the ring.

- Rebecca Bayless was backstage, where she was interrupted by The YRR. Sal Rinauro said after last night there was only one thing to say, and gave Bayless another hard, long kiss, cause that's how YRR do. Chasyn Rance said it was time to get in the limo and go party, and Bayless said she's going with them.

12. Mark Briscoe & The Vulture Squad (Jack Evans & Jigsaw) (w/Daizee Haze) beat The Age of the Fall (Jimmy Jacobs, Tyler Black & Necro Butcher w/Lacey) in a Street Fight. The match was originally the Briscoes w/Daizee vs. Black and Necro w/Lacey, but Jacobs came out early on and attacked Jay, before knocking him out when he hit a Senton from a gigantic ladder onto Jay on a table (Jacobs was lucky he didn't break his leg on that one, as his ankle came down right across the edge of the ring frame). After Jay was carried to the back, The Age of the Fall continued to beat down Mark. Daizee tried to get them to stop by throwing herself over him, but AOTF picked her up and were going to stab her in the face with a spike, until The Vulture Squad made the save. After brawling all over the arena, Jacobs was put away after a Cutthroat Driver from Mark followed by a springboard 630 from Evans.

Cobb dared either of them to do something, and started fighting both of them, until Silas gave him a low blow, allowing Taylor to hit his finisher.

1. Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll, PCO & Brody King) beat Corey Hollis, John Skyler & Josey Quinn in a Six-Man Tag Team match. Finish saw Brody hit a Gonzo bomb on Hollis followed by Scurll locking in the Chicken Wing. Post match red and black balloons floated up from under the rings, but when Scurll ran to check no one was under the ring. ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions The Kingdom came out from the back and said they're not only the best trio in ROH, they're the best in professional wrestling. They teased a title defense against "Melvin Enterprises" right now, but then they said they aren't getting a shot tonight, and left.

- Backstage The Kingdom told Villain Enterprises they may be new around here, but they need to respect the crown, because they're the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions for a reason.

- ROH World Champion Jay Lethal said its hard for him to keep track of who's in line for a title shot because all he can focus on is Matt Taven running around with a fake ROH World Championship belt while spitting on the real belt, and he's tired of it.

2. Nick Aldis (c) beat PJ Black to retain the NWA World Heavyweight Championship

- Juice Robinson came out and said ROH was built on the concept of mutual respect by guys like Samoa Joe, Bryan Danielson and Tyler Black, but something's happened to that concept the past couple of years. Robinson said tonight, they're hitting the reset button. The lights went out and when they came back on Bandido, David Finlay, Mark Haskins, Tracy Williams and Tenille Dashwood were in the ring. Robinson proclaimed themselves LifeBlood, and said they're bringing honor back to Ring of Honor.

1. Shane Taylor beat Chris Sabin, Flip Gordon, Kenny King, Luchasaurus and Rhett Titus in a Six-Man Mayhem match. Midway through the match Sabin suffered a fully torn ACL, which would keep him out of wrestling for a year and a half. Near the end of the match King was disqualified and ejected from the match after hitting Flip with a chair. Taylor pinned Titus after Greetings from 216.

2. The Bouncers (Beer City Bruiser & Brian Milonas) beat Griff Garrison & Marcus Kross

- Chuckie T came out for his ROH World Tag Team Championship match against the Briscoes, and said Beretta couldn't be here it tonight (due to a family emergency). He said he came for a fight, and he may not have his Best Friend, but he does have A Really, Really Good Friend that's here, Colt Cabana.

3. The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) (c) beat Colt Cabana & Chuckie T to retain the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Jay pinned Chuckie T after J-Driller. Post match the Briscoes continued to attacked Chuckie T, with Mark giving him a Froggy Bow through a table on the floor.

- ROH World Champion Jay Lethal came out and said it's hard to watch the promotion he's given so much to being destroyed by people like Bully Ray and the Briscoes, who do whatever they want because no one stops them, and by people like Matt Taven, who runs around with a fake ROH World Championship belt. LifeBlood interrupted him, and Juice Robinson said it sounds like Lethal wants what they want. After building up and putting over every member, Lethal said he's tried to bring honor back to ROH and it isn't easy, and wished them luck. Robinson told Lethal they should stop talking about bringing honor back and just do it, and told him to pick four wrestler who feels like they do for a 10-Man Tag Team match.

2. LifeBlood (Juice Robinson, Bandido, David Finlay, Mark Haskins & Tracy Williams) beat Jay Lethal, Dalton Castle, Flip Gordon, Jeff Cobb & Jonathan Gresham (w/The Boys) in a 10-Man Tag Team match. Finish saw Castle go for a Bang-A-Rang on Haskins, who countered out of it into a Sharpshooter.

3. Sumie Sakai beat Nicole Savoy. Sumie heeled it up big time in the match, including kicking the middle rope into the referee's junk when he was trying to get into the ring.

4. Dak Draper beat Danhausen. Post match Draper presented Danhausen with Participationhuasen Ribbon.

5. Alex Zayne beat Bandido

- Shane Taylor Promotions came out. Shane Taylor said it's been 24 hours and he hasn't heard back from ROH COO Joe Koff about his counteroffer, and until he does you will not see him wrestle for Ring of Honor. You will, however, be able to see him wrestle Nick Gage for VIP Wrestling later that month.

6. LifeBlood (Mark Haskins & Tracy Williams) beat Vincent & Bateman (w/Vita VonStarr and Chuckles) by disqualification. Finish saw Haskins get Vincent in a Sharpshooter, but Chuckles ran into the ring and hit him in the back of the head with a block of wood. Post match Vincent & Co. continued to attack Haskins, putting the block of wood between his ankles to hobble him, but Williams ran into the ring with a steel chair to chase them off.

7. Jay Lethal, Jonathan Gresham, Jeff Cobb & Dan Maff beat 2 Guys 1 Tag (Silas Young & Josh Woods) & The Bouncers (Beer City Bruiser & Brian Milonas) in an Eight-Man Tag Team match. Cobb pinned Bruiser after a Tour of the Island. Post match Maff picked up Lethal's ROH World Tag Team Championship belt when he almost stepped on it while fighting with 2G1T, and Lethal and Gresham demanded he return it toot sweet. Cobb and Maff teased leaving with the belt, before throwing it back into the ring and warning Lethal and Gresham they aren't done with them.

- They aired footage of Rhett Titus backstage with his wife a new son following his loss to Kenny King at "Final Battle 2019", and Titus promised them and King it wasn't over.

- Bully Ray came out and demanded Bobby Cruise bring him a microphone, but Bobby just threw it at him. Bully said he probably deserved that after what he did last night, and repeatedly asked Cruise to get into the ring so he could publicly apologize to him, which after several attempts he finally did. After putting over Bobby's long tenure with ROH, and how he's earned the respect of the fans and everyone in the back and is an asset to the company, Bully shoved him to the ground and called him a stupid schmuck. After berating the fans, Bully bragged about putting Maria Manic through a table the night before, and said she isn't here tonight because she's a coward. Maria ran out and attacked Bully, until The Allure tried to come to his aid. Maria fought them off, but the time allowed Bully to get back to his feet and clothesline her. After repeatedly hitting her with a chair, Bully set up a table in the corner to powerbomb her, but Maria gave him a low blow when he went to pick her up. Maria then told him "You're not a bully, you're a bitch!" and threw him through the table. Bully had to be helped to the back by several officials.

8. Flip Gordon beat Flamita. Gordon won with the S.T.F. (Submit to Flip). Post match Gordon ripped Flamita's mask off.

9. La Facción Ingobernable (Rush, Dragon Lee & Kenny King w/Amy Rose) beat Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll, PCO & Brody King) in a Six-Man Tag Team match. King pinned Scurll after a triple-teamed Powerbomb/Double Stomp combo.

- 1987: Future Ring of Honor commentator and internet message board poster Ian Riccaboni is born.

- 2019: ROH closed out their opening weekend with the HonorClub exclusive "Honor Reigns Supreme 2019" from Concord, NC. Months after returning from injury, former ROH World Champion Dalton Castle finally got his rematch for the title, taking on Jay Lethal in the main event. LifeBlood continued to cement themselves as a force to be reconned with, winning a tag match and three singles matches. One, however, came under less than ideal circumstances, when the injury bug struck again for the second night in a row, taking out Flip Gordon with a knee injury that would sideline him for several months. WOH World Champion Kelly Klein looked to prove her dominance, defending her title in a Street Fight against Jenny Rose. Likewise ROH World Television Champion Jeff Cobb looked to prove his dominance when he was booked in a Four Corner Proving Ground: Instant Reward match against Jonathan Gresham, Rhett Titus, and Shane Taylor, who did not take kindly to the match. Also receiving a Proving Ground opportunity was the greenest team in Ring of Honor history, as Delirious, Luchasaurus and Shane "Hurricane" Helms took on the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions The Kingdom. And after a two-year run following a decade of people begging for him to be brought in, Chuck Taylor and his Best Friend Beretta wrestled their final Ring of Honor match before joining some upstart t-shirt company based in Jackson, Florida.

4. Tracy Williams beat Flip Gordon via referee stoppage. Near the end of the match Gordon went for a running dropkick on Williams in the corner, and when he landed he immediately collapsed with a hurt knee. Gordon tried to soldier on, but eventually rolled out of the ring and told the referee he couldn't continue.

5. The Kingdom (Matt Taven, Vinny Marseglia & TK O'Ryan) beat Delirious, Luchasaurus & Shane Helms in a Proving Ground Six-Man Tag Team match. Delirious came out with his ribs taped, having been injured competing for Voodoo Wrestling in the Congo. Marseglia pinned Delirious after House of 1,000 Horses.

6. Bandido beat PJ Black. Bandido won after a Revolution Fly.

7. Jeff Cobb beat Jonathan Gresham and Rhett Titus in a Three-Way Proving Ground: Instant Reward match. The match was scheduled to be a Four Corner Survival match with Shane Taylor, but before the match began Taylor said he felt ROH disrespected him by putting into the match, because he had nothing to prove, and walked out. Finish saw Cobb pick up Titus with a modified gutwrench into a Piledriver, followed by a Tour of the Islands. Post match Silas Young came out and got Cobb's attention, allowing Taylor to run in from the crowd and attack him from behind. Taylor then posed with the TV title before leaving.

8. Kelly Klein (w/Camp Klein) (c) beat Jenny Rose in a Street Fight to retain the WOH World Championship. Klein won after a K-Power onto a pile of steel chairs.

9. Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll, PCO & Brody King) beat The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) & Silas Young in a Six-Man Tag Team match. Finish saw Brody hit a Gonzo Bomb on Jay, followed by PCO hitting a PCO-Sault for the win.

- NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis came out said the NWA and ROH together represent the past, present and future of professional wrestling. He said legacy and tradition brought the two companies together, and they are teaming up in April for the return of "The Crockett Cup".

10. Jay Lethal (c) beat Dalton Castle (w/The Boys) to retain the ROH World Championship. Lethal won after a powerbomb into the turnbuckle followed by a Lethal Injection.

Today in Ring of Honor History: January 14

- 2006: Ring of Honor hit the ground running for what is largely considered their hottest year with "Hell Freezes Over" in Philadelphia, PA. The biggest event coming out of it is was start of the Ring of Honor vs. Combat Zone Wrestling feud when, as part of his interpromotional open challenge campaign, Bryan Danielson defended the ROH World Championship against debuting CZW wrestler Chris Hero. Well, actually the feud really began earlier in the day when Danielson, ROH Pure Champion Nigel McGuinness, and ROH Tag Team Champions Austin Aries and Roderick Strong invaded CZW's "An Afternoon of Main Events". Danielson found himself pulling double duty on the show, competing for the FIP Heavyweight Championship in a Three-Way match against Strong and the injured champion Homicide, who was several months into his bitter feud with Colt Cabana. On top of it all, he ended the night kicking off a mini-feud with The Embassy. After a test in the form of a singles match, a new tag team is formed with AJ Styles and Matt Sydal. It was really the first of many, many partners that Sydal would have for the remained of his first tenure, resulting in this board labeling him a "tag whore". Coming out of "Final Battle 2005", new, old and seemingly constant issues between Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, BJ Whitmer and Jay Lethal reared their heads. Adam Pearce had a message for Jim Cornette, if only he could find him. And romance was in the air as Jimmy Jacobs professed his love of Lacey. Let's face it, in 2006, there were no other candidates; together, they were the match of the year.

- 2011: Ring of Honor began 2011 by putting their biggest guns in a one match at "Champions vs. All Stars" in Richmond, VA. The inaugural Champions vs. All-Stars match saw ROH World Champion Roderick Strong, ROH World Television Champion Christopher Daniels and ROH World Tag Team Champions the Kings of Wrestling take on the All-Star team of Davey Richards, El Generico and The Briscoes. Steve Corino, forced to go alone in ROH following the loss of Kevin Steen at "Final Battle 2010", began his recovery from evil, and looked to keep others from going down that path. Caprice Coleman, last seen in ROH in 2004, made his return taking on fellow future commentator Colt Cabana, who need a little help in his victory. And the Bravado Brothers disappointed their Grandmother with a very embarrassing defeat.

- 2017: Ring of Honor kicked off the year with a television taping in Atlanta, GA. Christopher Daniels moved one step closer to the ROH World Championship by meeting Jay Briscoe in the finals of the "Decade of Excellence" tournament. Bullet Club returned triumphant from New Japan with not only newly crowned three-time ROH World Champion Adam Cole, but also a new member, Cody. The Young Bucks gave the future Roppongi 3K, then known as The Tempura Boyz, the biggest opportunity during their Ring of Honor excursion, a shot at the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Fellow New Japan wrestler Juice Robinson also got a title opportunity, taking on ROH World Television Champion Marty Scurll. Scurll's mouth got him in a bit of trouble when his demand for competition was answered by six would-be challengers: Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Donovan Dijak, Jay White, Jonathan Gresham and Lio Rush. Newly crowned ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions The Kingdom looked to put every trio on notice. And following the departure of Steve Corino, Colt Cabana began his migration to the commentary table, being one of number of wrestlers filling in to help Kevin Kelly.

- ROH Tag Team Champions Generation Next came out, and Austin Aries said it's the second year in a row he's starting out a new champion, and just like he did with the ROH World Championship, they're going to defend the titles all over the world. Roderick Strong said they may be focused on the Tag titles, but he still has his sights set on beating Bryan Danielson for the ROH World Championship. Tonight, however, he's got another goal, and that's becoming the new FIP Heavyweight Champion. Aries sent Strong to the back, and called out Ricky Reyes for spending the past few months beating up the ROH Wrestling Academy students.

1. Austin Aries beat Ricky Reyes (w/Julius Smokes). Finish saw Reyes lock in a Dragon Sleeper Hold, but Aries rolled back to pin him. Post match Smokes attacked the referee while Reyes refused to break the hold, until Roderick Strong made the save. Reyes said Aries isn't better than his students, because he couldn't get out of the Dragon Sleeper either. Reyes then challenged Generation Next to prove they're the best tag team in Ring of Honor by defending the ROH Tag Team Championship against The Rottweilers.

- They tried to get a promo from Colt Cabana, who was still shook up about Homicide trying to kill him at "Final Battle 2005" by pouring Drano down his throat. Cabana said he didn't have words, he had actions. Cabana left and Adam Pearce jumped in, and said he and Jim Cornette aren't connecting, because he keeps trying to show Cornette who he is, but Cornette keeps responding by doing stuff like putting him in a Six Man Mayhem match tonight. Pearce said his message to Cornette keeps getting lost, but promised the message will come, starting tonight.

2. Nigel McGuinness (c) beat Tony Mamaluke to retain the ROH Pure Championship. Finish saw Mamaluke repeatedly forearm McGuinness on the ground, but McGuinness caught his arm and put him in a Kimura Lock.

3. The Embassy (Jimmy Rave & Alex Shelley w/Prince Nana) beat Claudio Castagnoli & Azrieal (w/Colt Cabana). Finish saw Rave go for Greetings from Ghana on Azrieal, who repeatedly tried to fight out of it, so Rave sat down turning it into a submission hold.

- Gary Michael Cappetta interviewed FIP Heavyweight Champion Homicide, and asked about his injured shoulder. Homicide said it doesn't matter how his shoulder is, he came for a fight. Challenger Roderick Strong came out and said it sucks Homicide is injured but he's not going to show mercy, because he's been FIP's golden boy and now he's going to be the Heavyweight Champion. Bryan Danielson and Dave Prazak came out and said in FIP anything goes and the wrestlers make the matches, so how about they make this a Three-Way match so the gold can come home to DP Associates.

4. Bryan Danielson (w/Dave Prazak) beat Homicide (c) and Roderick Strong in a Three-Way match to WIN THE FIP HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP!!! The match started with Strong running out into the crowd to fight Danielson by the FIP setup, while Colt Cabana ran in from the opposite side of the crowd and jumped Homicide. Cabana threw Homicide shoulder-first into the guard rail and was getting ready to attack him with a chair when The Rottweilers and Monsta Mack ran him off. After brawling around the arena, Danielson and Strong made their way into the ring. Homicide when for a Lariat on Danielson, who caught him in a deep armbar for the win.

5. Christopher Daniels (w/Allison Danger) beat Jay Lethal. Post match Samoa Joe ran out and tried to attack Lethal, who bailed out of the ring. Daniels started fighting with Joe, until Lethal snuck back into the ring and gave Joe a low blow. Lethal tried to put the boots the Joe, but Daniels kept stopping him, until BJ Whitmer ran out and gave Daniels an Exploder Suplex. Whitmer said everyone may have forgiven him for walking out on ROH in 2004, but he's never forgiven or forgotten Daniels abandoning the promotion and The Prophecy. Whitmer then told Joe the only reason he saved him is because he wants him at 100% when he beats him tonight.

- Gary Michael Cappetta interviewed AJ Styles during intermission, who said he asked to wrestle Matt Sydal tonight as a test. Adam Pearce interrupted Cappetta asking where Jim Cornette was, and Cappetta said he wasn't at the show. Pearce was pissed because Cornette couldn't be bothered to show when he needs to talk to him, and because he's got to compete in a stupid Six Man Mayhem match.

6. Jack Evans beat Adam Pearce, Jason Blade, Kid Mikaze, Sal Rinauro and Trik Davis in a Six Man Mayhem match. Near the end of the match, Blade and Mikaze hit simultaneous springboard kicks on Pearce, with Blade kicking him right in the throat. Finish saw Pearce have Mikaze beat after a Piledriver, but Evans hit a 630 to break up the pin, then pinned Mikaze himself.

7. Samoa Joe beat BJ Whitmer (w/Lacey) via referee stoppage. Finish saw Joe and Whitmer trading strikes, until Joe slapped him followed by a hard kick to the face that knocked him out. Joe went for a ground and pound, but the referee threw himself on top of Whitmer and called for the bell.

- A taped promo from Jimmy Jacobs who said when he and BJ Whitmer lost the ROH Tag Team Championship, it left a void, but somethings come along to fill that void. Well, actually someone: Lacey. She's the one for him, and he wants to be there for her, because he loves her.

8. AJ Styles beat Matt Sydal. Finish saw Sydal try to go a suplex off the top rope, but Styles picked him up for a Styles Clash. Sydal countered into a Hurricanrana, but Styles rolled through and pinned him. Post match Styles said he asked for this match for a reason. Someone in the crowd told him to propose, and Styles he was going to propose something, but not that, cause he ain't a member of the gay community (he may have expressed it with different verbiage). Styles said he wanted to test Sydal, because he's never found anyone in ROH to tag with who's better than Amazing Red. Styles told Sydal they should go after the ROH Tag Team Championship, and Sydal agreed.

- Samoa Joe was backstage, and warned Christopher Daniels that what he did to BJ Whitmer was an example of how far he'd go to get what he wants. Joe said if Daniels wants to finish their feud in ROH, they'll finish it with Joe finishing Daniels. Joe left and Adam Pearce entered with a hoarse voice and a bruised throat. Pearce warned Jim Cornette the State Athletic Commissioned said if his Adam's Apple is cracked ROH is liable for emergency surgery. Pearce said Cornette may think it's some joke to book him in multi-man matches against little people and the intellectually disabled (again he may have used different verbiage) as a way to prove himself, but he's going to keep coming back for more, because you don't know the length he'll go to get to the top.

- Chris Hero came out through the crowd with CZW's Necro Butcher, Nate Webb, Adam Flash and referee Bryce Remsburg, while CZW's theme song played as his entrance music. Hero said a lot of people said he'd never wrestle for ROH, but he's here, and he's brought friends. Hero said ROH makes him sick, because Gabe Sapolsky and Ring of Honor are an elitist dictatorship on par with Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany. Hero said tonight the wrestler who was never "good enough for Ring of Honor" is going to win the ROH World Championship, take it back to CZW, and throw it in the trash.



9. ROH World Championship: Bryan Danielson (c) vs. Chris Hero

- Post match Prince Nana came out and offered to buy the ROH World Championship from Danielson, but wrote the check out in Ghanaian dollars, which Danielson said ain't worth shit. Nana slapped Danielson, who responded by getting ready to kick his f'ing head in, and The Embassy ran out and attacked him. Jimmy Rave attempted to give him a Greetings from Ghana, but Alex Shelley stopped him because he said he knew Danielson's kryptonite. Shelley then hit Sliced Bread #2 before doing Spanky's dance.

- ROH World Television Champion Christopher Daniels promo, and he has mixed feelings about tonight's Eight-Man Tag Team match. While he respects his opponents Davey Richards, El Generico, and the Briscoes and looks forward to wrestling them, he neither cares for nor trusts the men he's forced to team with, ROH World Champion Roderick Strong and ROH World Tag Team Champions the Kings of Wrestling.

- ROH World Champion Roderick Strong came out and gave himself a pat on the back for shattering Davey Richards' championship dreams at "Final Battle 2010". He then said tonight, he and the ROH World Tag Team Champions the Kings of Wrestling, along with the weak link ROH World Television Champion Christopher Daniels, are going to make sure the champions reign supreme. Daniels came out and told Strong to get his head out of his ass and get to the back so they can prepare for their match tonight. Strong said that match is in the future, but now is present, and the two are in the ring.

1. Christopher Daniels beat Roderick Strong. Near the end of the match the Kings of Wrestling ran out and tried to get them to stop wrestling. Daniels threw Chris Hero out of the ring and rolled up Strong for the win.

2. Grizzly Redwood & Andy Ridge beat the Bravado Brothers (Lance & Harlem Bravado). Ridge pinned Lance after a superkick.

- Mike Bennett is backstage, and said everyone wants to know where Brutal Bob Evans is. Well he's back in Boston, stretching them greenies out. Bennett said he's going to make an example out of Adam Cole tonight, because he isn't in his league. Then he's coming for the ROH World Television Championship.

3. Mike Bennett beat Adam Cole

- ROH World Tag Team Champions the Kings of Wrestling came out and said that, due to wrestling earlier tonight, their partners are not enter the Champions vs. All-Stars match at 100%. Therefore, Chris Hero made an executive decision and ordered Davey Richards and El Generico come out and wrestle each other. Richards and Generico did come out, but Richards said just because the Champions are having problems among themselves, that doesn't mean the All-Stars are, so the match will go ahead as is. Hero said if Richards isn't going to make the match fair, the Kings of Wrestling will have too. Sara Del Rey and Shane Hagadorn grabbed ahold of Richards and Generico, allowing KOW to attack them. They setup Richards to give him a KRS 1 onto Generico, but the Briscoes ran out and chased them off.

4. Homicide beat Rhett Titus. Titus was busted open the hard way with a headbutt. Post match backstage, officials tried to help a very bloody Titus, but he yelled at them to get away. Titus (who started slurring his words as it went on) said this wasn't the first time he's bled, and when he bleeds his killer instinct is unleashed. Homicide may think he's leaving…whatever city it is, he can't remember…a winner, but Titus is coming for him.

- Steve Corino came out and said he was sick, but still drove down to Richmond because he had something to say. Corino said in his 17-year career, he's cheated, lied, and manipulated people, and last year he went too far. He pushed Kevin Steen over the edge, and it's because of him Steen's no longer in ROH. Corino said tonight starts his rehab to be a better person. He said he has a match tonight, and told the referee to disqualify him if he breaks a single rule. Corino then called out Caleb Konley for the match, and told him he picked him because he's been developing a cocky attitude and heading down the same path he did, and told him he wants to help him.

5. Steve Corino beat Caleb Konley. Finish saw Corino get Konley in an abdominal stretch and teased checking his oil, but fought the urge and instead rolled him up for the win.

- Caprice Coleman was backstage and said he's returned to ROH to prove he belongs here.

6. Colt Cabana beat Caprice Coleman. Early in the match Cabana called a time out because two kids in the crowd were shouting advice at him, and he wanted to "confer with his managers". Upon reentering the ring, Cabana took their advice and challenged Coleman to some amateur wrestling. After Coleman repeatedly bested him, Cabana left the ring and teased hitting his managers with a chair.

7. Kenny King beat Kyle O'Reilly. Post match backstage, Steve Corino told O'Reilly he wrestled a great match and has a ton of potential.

8. All-Stars (Davey Richards, El Generico, Jay Briscoe & Mark Briscoe) beat the Champions (Roderick Strong, Christopher Daniels, Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli) (w/Shane Hagadorn) in an Eight-Man Tag Team match. Finish saw Daniels try to give Mark a suplex off the top rope, but Mark shoved him off then hit a Froggy Bow for the win. Post match Daniels congratulated the All-Stars while the rest of the Champions walked away. Richards got on the mic and put over Daniels and his fellow All-Stars.

- After the show the Bravado Brothers were backstage, with Harlem complaining that Lance got pinned by Andy Ridge after one superkick. Ridge, the guy who couldn't even beat Christopher Daniels, pinned him. Ridge, the guy who lost to funny man Colt Cabana, Mark Briscoe, Ricky Reyes, and Homicide (who Harlem called "a ladyboy"), has a victory over the Bravados. Harlem worried the same thing could happen the next night in their home state of North Carolina, but Lance said no matter what, that wouldn't happen.

D. John Skyler beat Big Brother King (w/Devy Nicole), Gladiator Jeremiah and Matt Sells in a Four Corner Survival match

1. The Tempura Boyz (Sho & Yohei) beat Coast 2 Coast (Leon St. Giovanni & Shaheem Ali) and Cheeseburger & Will Ferrara in a Three-Way Tag Team match. Sho pinned Ali after a Shock Arrow. Post match The Young Bucks, who were on commentary, got in the ring and announced that the open challenge they publicly issued for a shot at the ROH World Tag Team Championship was just a ruse to try to get The Hardy Boyz to show. But, seeing as they're not here, the Bucks decided to give that title shot to winner of the Three-Way, so congratulations Tempura Boyz. The Tempura Boyz celebrated the news, only to turn around and eat a pair of Superkicks.

- After kicking The Tempura Boyz out of the ring, The Young Bucks introduced the first ever three-time ROH World Champion, Adam Cole. A very humble Cole came out and proclaimed himself a god and living legend before running down a list of protentional future challengers: Dalton Castle who's nothing more than a gimmick, the half of reDRagon he hasn't already sent packing Bobby Fish, and former champions Jay Briscoe and Jay Lethal, both of whom he's beaten. Cole said 2017 will be a special year for the Bullet Club, because no one can stop them.

2. Marty Scurll (c) beat Juice Robinson to retain the ROH World Television Championship. Finish saw Robinson go for Pulp Friction, but Scurll countered into a Chicken Wing. Post match Scurll said he came to ROH for the competition, but since winning the TV title he hasn't seen any, so he's issuing an open challenge. Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Donovan Dijak, Jay White, Jonathan Gresham and Lio Rush all accepted. After the commercial break Kevin Kelly interviewed the six about the challenge, with Sabin saying they've decided to meet next week in a Six Man Mayhem match, with the winner challenging "Martin Skull" for the TV title.

3. Jay Briscoe beat Jay Lethal to advance to the finals of the Decade of Excellence Tournament. Finish saw both wrestlers counter each other's finisher, then Briscoe hitting a rolling elbow followed by a lariat for the win.

1. War Machine (Hanson & Rowe) vs. BJ Whitmer & Damian Martinez ended in a double count out. Post match both teams brawled to the back.

2. The Kingdom (Matt Taven, Vinny Marseglia & TK O'Ryan) beat The Bruiserweights (Corey Hollis & John Skyler) & Joseph A'Gau in a Six-Man Tag Team match. Post match Taven told the melvins to take a good look at the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship belts, because they are never leaving The Kingdom. Dalton Castle & The Boys came out, and Taven wanted to know what him and the mini-melvins are going to do to The Kingdom. Castle told The Boys to show him, so they started pushing Castle back and forth. After Castle stopped them, he warned Taven next time they're going to do that to him. Taven said they could do it right now, so Castle got into the ring, but Colt Cabana ran over and knocked down The Boys before they could. Taven said it sucks to be them.

- They aired a vignette for Cody.

- Colt Cabana tried to rejoin commentary, but Kevin Kelly told him there's a zero tolerance policy for commentators attacking wrestlers, and kicked him off.

3. The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) (c) beat The Tempura Boyz (Sho & Yohei) to retain the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Post match the Bucks congratulated the Boyz on their efforts and raised their hands, allowing Adam Page to come out and attack them from behind.

4. Donovan Dijak beat Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Jay White, Jonathan Gresham and Lio Rush in a Six Man Mayhem match to win a shot at the ROH World Television Championship. Dijak pinned Rush.

- They cut to backstage where War Machine was still brawling with BJ Whitmer & Damian Martinez

1. Adam Page beat Matt Sells. Post-match The Young Bucks came out to Superkick Sells, followed by ROH World Champion Adam Cole and newest Bullet Club member Cody coming out. Fans cheered for Cody and chanted "Welcome home!", and Cody said he'd waited eleven years for that reception. Then he said waiting that long proved Atlanta is a retched city filled with scum and villainy, and he's better than every one of them. Cody then called out Jay Lethal, but when he failed to show Cody said he's a shell of himself after losing to Cole, and he's no longer the "Gatekeeper of ROH", he's the doorman. Lethal finally came out, but wouldn't get into the ring with all of Bullet Club in it, until Cody managed to goad him in. Bullet Club attacked Lethal, and Bobby Fish tried to make the save, but was beaten down until Alex Shelley, Lio Rush and Jay White came out to chase off the Bucks and Page.

2. Jay Lethal & Bobby Fish beat Bullet Club (Adam Cole & Cody). Fish made Cole tap out to a Kneebar.

- Kevin Kelly announced that since the scheduled main event of Jay Lethal & Bobby Fish vs. Bullet Club happened early, Dalton Castle & The Boys vs. The Rebellion would now be the main event. Backstage Dalton asked The Boys if they're ready to be Main Event Boys.

- Kevin Kelly interviewed Mark Briscoe about Jay Briscoe's state of mind heading into the finals of the Decade of Excellence Tournament. Mark said Jay's been the ROH World Championship twice, which means he's lost it twice, and every time he does he goes crazy and acts like damn fool. But he's training harder and is more focused than he's ever been, so Mark thinks he'll win. Kelly then threw it to a promo from Frankie Kazarian, who said he's scared to death for Christopher Daniels, because his back is against the wall with what is probably his last chance to get a shot at the ROH World Championship. But if anyone could come out from having his back against the wall and winning it, it's Christopher Daniels, because he cares about ROH more than anyone. Kazarian said at the end of the tournament, he's either going to be the best friend of a man who could be the next ROH World Champion, or he's going to be the best friend of a man who could be on his way out of professional wrestling.

3. Mark Briscoe beat Sal Rinauro

- A taped interview with Bobby Fish who talked about winning the ROH World Tag Team Championship and IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship with Kyle O'Reilly, and breaking off on his own to win the ROH World Television Championship.

4. The Rebellion (Caprice Coleman, Rhett Titus & Kenny King) beat Dalton Castle & The Boys (Boy #1 & Boy #2) in a Six-Man Tag Team match. Titus pinned one of the Boys after The Rebellion hit a series of moves on him. Post match The Kingdom came out and mockingly applauded both teams.

- Promo from Jay Briscoe, who said it’s the Decade of Excellence Tournament, ten years. Forget ten years, let's take it back fifteen years to day one, when he was in the first official match in Ring of Honor. It's been fifteen years for the Briscoes, who are eight-time ROH World Tag Team Champions. Jay Briscoe in a singles run, that's a two-time ROH World Champion, soon to be three-time. Jay said the only number that matters right now one: one match and one man, Christopher Daniels.

- A taped interview with Bobby Fish talking about winning Survival of the Fittest, and his upcoming match against Adam Cole for the ROH World Championship at "Manhattan Mayhem VI".

- Colt Cabana came out said it's a sad day when The Boys are allowed in an ROH ring, a ring that he built. Fans started to boo, but he said don't boo him, he's a legend. Cabana told Dalton Castle one fluke win doesn't make him a better wrestler, and he's going to literally (and he literally means literally) prove that by beating his two schmucks. Cabana warned The Boys this is what happens when you mess with "The Iron Jew".

2. Colt Cabana beat The Boys (Boy #1 & Boy #2) in a Handicap match

- Promo from Christopher Daniels who said he was one half of the first ROH World Tag Team Champions, the second ROH World Television Champion, he wrestled in the first main event in ROH, he wrestled in the first one-hour match in ROH history to crown the first ROH World Champion, he's wrestled the likes of Samoa Joe, CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Low Ki, Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards. Daniels said most would be happy with that, but he's not. People call him "Hall of Famer" and "Legend" and "Founding Father", but they also call him "The Best that Never Was". Daniels said he's going to change that, because it's his destiny to be ROH World Champion.

- They aired a promo for the Top Prospect Tournament.

3. Christopher Daniels (w/Frankie Kazarian) beat Jay Briscoe (w/Mark Briscoe) to win the Decade of Excellence Tournament. Daniels won after an Angels Wings off the middle rope. As a result of winning, Daniels earned a shot at the ROH World Championship at the "15th Anniversary".

Me and some friends attended CZW's An Afternoon of Main Events and ROH's Hell Freezes Over. I only have a few memories of that day, though. There was one match on the CZW card that seemed like it was paced decently, then it left the ring and went hardcore for 10 minutes longer than it needed to be. Our favorite moment of the show was when the ROH guys showed up.

Hell Freezes Over was just a really good show. I remember loving the Styles/Sydal match a bunch. In terms of the ROH/CZW feud, me and my friends were all ROH fans, and were only interested in CZW for its connection to CHIKARA. I was just happy to see my boy Chris Hero IN ROH.

Today in Ring of Honor History: January 15

- 2005: ROH began the year with "It All Begins" in Cambridge, MA. New ROH World Champion Austin Aries made his first defense against Colt Cabana, the man he took out of action in August. Despite being the last match on the show, it wasn't the "main event", as that was former champion Samoa Joe and former WWE Superstars^® Mick Foley meeting in a confrontation that lasted 20-minutes. Foley insulted the fanbase, mocked Joe, and buried ROH while praising WWE, but was so entertaining he still got cheered. He's a legend for a reason. And given what happened to Joe in WWE the past year, Foley description of his conversation with Vince McMahon about him may have be 100% the truth. Anyway, recently split teams found themselves at odds, as Alex Shelley was now a man without friends after being kicked out of Generation Next, and Angel Dust, newly rechristened as Azrieal, had to go alone against former friends Special K. Bryan Danielson and Homicide kicked off their Best of Five Series with a Tap Out match, Allison Danger looked for new members to relaunch The Prophecy, and ROH Founding Father Spanky made his return.

- 2011: ROH closed out its opening weekend with "Only the Strong Survive" in Charlotte, NC. Two of ROH's go-to's for world title challengers met in the main event when ROH World Champion Roderick Strong defended against Jay Briscoe. ROH World Television Champion Christopher Daniels defended against Claudio Castagnoli, while fellow King of Wrestling Chris Hero took on former ally Davey Richards. Steve Corino continued his rehab from evil, and the Bravado Brothers spent a worrying amount of time meeting people in the bathroom after achieving what in hindsight is one of their most impressive victories when they took future ROH World Champions Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly

- 2016: Ring of Honor kicked off the "Winter Warriors Tour 2016" in Indianapolis, IN. Four of ROH's biggest and best tag teams went at it in the main event, with ROH World Tag Team Champions War Machine teaming up with The Briscoes to face the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks and The All-Night Express. Alex Shelley took on Adam Cole in their only singles match against each other. Shelley's former tag team partner Chris Sabin teamed with Frankie Kazarian to face reDRagon. Kazarian's regular tag team partner, Christopher Daniels, was unable to attend due to being suspended. In a completely unrelated note, international superstar Curry Man made his return to ROH after ten years as the latest contestant of "Roddy vs. The World", challenging Roderick Strong for the ROH World Television Championship. And BJ Whitmer tried to make peace with Adam Page before losing him to Steve Corino.

- 2021: Following a catch-up of ROH stars dealing with the pandemic and the "Best of 2020", ROH aired it's first story driven episode of the year. Flip Gordon, on thin ice with ROH officials for not adhering to the Code of Honor following his loss to ROH Pure Champion Jonathan Gresham at "Final Battle 2020", took on Gresham's Foundation stablemate Rhett Titus. In the main event, Rey Horus challenged Dragon Lee for the ROH World Television Championship.

- ROH World Champion Austin Aries came out and said everyone's been saying he'll never be able to follow in Samoa Joe's footsteps as champion, and it's true. Aries said he's going to make his own footsteps and surpass Joe as a champion, and it starts tonight when he defends against Colt Cabana and once again leaves him a broken mess. Bobby Cruise noted ROH has done away with the Contender's Ring, and now to get a title shot wrestlers have to petition the ROH officials. Alex Shelley came out told Aries if it wasn't for him, he would've been stuck in the midcard, and issued a petition to be Aries' first challenger. Roderick Strong ran out and attacked Shelley, with Generation Next giving him a beatdown, until Colt Cabana made the save. Shelley thanked Cabana for helping him despite everything he's done to him, but Cabana told him to go to hell, he did it to get Aries.

1. Spanky beat Alex Shelley

- CM Punk and Steve Corino cut a promo saying despite how things look, they're actually really good friends who can work together, and they'll prove that tonight when they win the ROH Tag Team Championship. Punk took a couple of potshots at Corino during the promo, and upset him by yelling very loudly into his good ear.

- Allison Danger, wearing a torn up dress, said it's a new year and time for her to sign some new members because The Prophecy will never die.

2. Azrieal beat Deranged (w/Special K) by disqualification. Azrieal had Dernaged beat when Special K jumped him to break up the pin, then continued to attack him until The Ring Crew Express made the save. After being slapped by Lacey, Dunn and Marcos bent her over their knees and spanked her.

- Homicide was backstage with Julius Smokes, and said the first match in his Best of Five series against Bryan Danielson is a Tap Out match. Everyone things Homicide is just a brawler, but tonight he's going to stretch out Danielson and break his arm. After they cut, Allison Danger ran up and said Homicide and Smokes don't care about the Code of Honor either, they'd be perfect for The Prophecy. Smokes said they ain't joining, they're Rottweilers. Danger pointed out that tonight Ricky Reyes and Rocky Romero are defending the ROH Tag Team Championship against her brother Steve Corino, and she knows all his weaknesses, and then their next defense is against Dan Maff and BJ Whitmer, and she controls their contracts, so they should work together. After thinking about it, Smokes told the cameraman to go away so they could talk.

- Roderick Strong came out, and the fans reminded him he tapped out to Kurt Angle the night before on SmackDown. Strong said Jack Evans is AWOL tonight because of the split in Generation Next, so Strong is pulling them out of the Ultimate Endurance match for the ROH Tag Team Championship. Instead, he's going to show CM Punk and Steve Corino what GeNext is about by beating their students.

3. Roderick Strong beat Shane Hagadorn, Evan Starsmore, Alex Law and Ricky Landell in a Gauntlet match. Post match Strong continued to choke out Landell, until Steve Corino chased him off. Corino said Strong was the same age as his students a couple of years ago, and no one took advantage of him. Someone in the crowd told Corino to shut up, but Corino yelled at him to shut up because he's the babyface and Strong's the heel, get it right. Corino told Strong to be a man and get in the ring, but Strong refused.

- Bryan Danielson was backstage and said Homicide injured his arm at "Final Battle 2004", but that pain just fuels him to end The Rottweilers. Tonight he's going to twist Homicide in pretzel and make him tap out. After they cut, Allison Danger ran up to Danielson and pitched reforming The Prophecy around him, but Danielson walked away.

- Backstage Lacey yelled at Special K for letting The Ring Crew Express humiliate her by spanking her. Lacey demanded at Scramble Cage II they not only end Dixie and Azrieal's careers, but they murder The Ring Crew Express as well. The cameraman started zooming in on her butt, but she caught him and yell at him.

D. Jay Lethal & Josh Daniels beat The Outcast Killaz (Diablo Santiago & Oman Tortuga) (w/Prince Nana)

4. The Rottweilers (Ricky Reyes & Rocky Romero w/Julius Smokes) (c) beat the Carnage Crew (Loc & DeVito) and CM Punk & Steve Corino (w/Team Corino) in an Ultimate Endurance match to retain the ROH Tag Team Championship
- The first fall was a Tag Team Scramble match. Punk made Loc submit to an Anaconda Vice to eliminated the Carnage Crew.
- The final fall was a tradition tag team match. Near the end of the match Roderick Strong ran out and attacked Corino's knee with a chair. Reyes pinned Punk to eliminate him and Corino.

- During intermission they aired a news break announcing Low Ki has been suspended indefinitely for attacking a referee at "Final Battle 2004". Also announced was former WWE wrestler James Gibson would soon be debuting for ROH.

5. Samoa Joe beat Nigel McGuinness. Joe won after repeatedly kneeing McGuinness in the head before locking in The Choke.

- Bryan Danielson and Homicide came out for their Tap Out match, and began brawling around the arena, before Julius Smokes was shoved into the camera, killing the feed. While waiting for the referee to restore order, they threw to a taped promo from Jim Cornette. Cornette said he took it easy on Bobby Heenan during the "Battle of the Managers" because he used to respect him, and that was mistake. Next time, he's not going to take it easy. Vince McMahon couldn't kill Heenan, WCW couldn't kill Heenan, cancer couldn't kill Heenan, but Jim Cornette will.

6. Homicide (w/The Rottweilers) [0] beat Bryan Danielson [0] in a Tap Out match to win the first match in the Best of Fiver Series. Homicide won with a Kimura on Danielson's injured arm. Post match Homicide got a pair of brass knuckles from Julius Smokes, and had him and Rocky Romero pick up Danielson. Homicide said he just beat Danielson in his own match, so there isn't going to be a Best of Five series, because he's ending Danielson's career right now. Homicide tried to hit Danielson, but Danielson fought him and The Rottweilers off. Danielson said Homicide may have beat him in his match, but next time he's going to beat Homicide in his, a Tapped Fist match.



7. ROH World Championship: Austin Aries (c) vs. Colt Cabana

{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Austin Aries (c) beat Colt Cabana to retain the ROH World Championship. Near the end of the match Cabana was knocked out after a Brainbuster on the steel entrance ramp. Several official came out to check on him, but he eventually woke up and crawled his way back into the ring. Aries tried to pick him up, but Cabana quickly locked him in a small package for a close two-count. Aries then kicked him in the head followed by the Brainbuster/450 combo he used to beat Samoa Joe for the win.

- Post match CM Punk and several officials ran out to check on Cabana and helped him to the back.

- Mick Foley came out and said there is something he needs to give Samoa Joe, something that's he's need for a long time. Joe came out, and Foley gave him what he had coming…an official Cactus Jack t-shirt! But that's not all. Despite people thinking Foley was also going to give him an official Cactus Jack ass kicking, Foley said he was there to give Joe a shot at Triple H and the World Heavyweight Championship. Well actually a shot at a shot at Trips and the title, because he's getting him a spot in the Royal Rumble! Foley then pulled out his phone and place a call to the big guy in WWE…writer Brian Gewirtz. Foley said Gewirtz was the "big guy in WWE" for Joe, because Foley showed a Samoa Joe tape to Vince McMahon, who said he was perfect for WWE…provided he tone down his style and they covered that fat son of a bitch up ("Vince said if he wanted to see a pair of droopy boobs, he'd hire a 50-year-old woman"). At that point Joe was ready to knock out Foley, but Foley said he argued with Vince against that. Foley said Joe's Samoan, they could play into the and make him "Wild Animal Joe", "Raw Fish Eating Joe", or since Rikishi is gone, stick him in a thong and give him the Stink Face as a finisher. Joe took the microphone away and said he's worked two years to build this company and he's not going to let anyone come into his ring and insult him, so unless Foley is here to fight he better have something real to say. Foley said he was just trying to have a bit of fun, god forbid someone has a laugh at an ROH show. Foley said if Joe wanted him to be serious, he'll be serious, and asked Joe want his goal for his career is: to remain an big fish in a small time by becoming a two-time ROH World Champion, or being a big fish in a big pond by going to WWE? Foley wanted to know Joe's decision, does he want to wrestle Austin Aries again, or does he want to take on a WWE Superstar^®? Joe said he does want to fight a WWE superstar, but that superstar is Foley and he wants to do it tonight, so it's time for him to knuckle up or shut up. Foley said the ROH fans appreciate hearing the truth, but asked if they could handle the truth. The truth is, despite what guys like Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat say about him, he's one of the biggest stars in the history of pro wrestling. The truth is, when Foley decides he wants to wrestle, Vince McMahon writes him a six-figure check, and he does it front of millions of fans. The truth is unless someone in the back hit the lottery and is sending a ton of money his way, this proposed match isn't happening. Then Foley sucker punched Joe with the microphone. Foley began attacking Joe, but when Joe got the upper hand Foley made his way to the entrance where someone handed him a steel chair. Foley beat Joe back to the ring, where he gave him a Double-Arm DDT on the chair.

- Backstage Colt Cabana said Austin Aries is the champion of Ring of Honor, but he wins by beating up people outside of the ring. Cabana said he wants to settle it, and wants it settled in the ring, and challenged Aries to a steel cage match.

1. Bravado Brothers (Lance & Harlem Bravado) beat Adam Cole & Kyle O'Reilly. Lance pinned O'Reilly while holding the tights.

- Rhett Titus came out and said he's pissed about what Homicide did to him the night before, but tonight he has a very wholesome opponent, so he's going to keep that in mind and give him a very wholesome ass kicking. Caprice Coleman said he's in his hometown, and he's going to make his name off of Titus and earn himself a job.

2. Rhett Titus beat Caprice Coleman

- Colt Cabana met up with Grizzly Redwood backstage, and said he wanted a fair match tonight.

3. Colt Cabana beat Grizzly Redwood

- The Bravado Brothers met up with several members of the Bandwagon in the bathroom, who assured them they blew the roof off the building in their match.

4. Mike Bennett beat Cedric Alexander. Post match, instead of going to the back, Bennett sat down at ringside.

5. Christopher Daniels (c) beat Claudio Castagnoli (w/Sara Del Rey & Shane Hagadorn) to retain the ROH World Television Championship. Near the end of the match Mike Bennett jumped up on the ring apron and began yelling at the referee after a Claudio got a two count. Shortly thereafter Bennett grabbed the TV title and threw it to Claudio when the referee wasn't looking, but the referee caught him before he could use it. Daniels won after an Angels Wing and Best Moonsault Ever.

- The Bravado Brothers were still in the bathroom signing autographs and shaking hands with members of the Bandwagon.

- Steve Corino came out for his singles match against Andy Ridge, and, after a mea culpa for being evil, put over Ridge for being on the being on the right path and said he doesn't want to wrestle him, he wants to team with him. Corino then called out Alabama Attitude, and told them they're heading down the wrong path.

6. Steve Corino & Andy Ridge beat Alabama Attitude (Corey Hollis & Mikey Posey). Finish saw Corino have Hollis beat after a Lariat, but he tagged in Ridge so he could get the pin. Ridge hit a superkick then the pin.

7. Davey Richards beat Chris Hero (w/Sara Del Rey & Shane Hagadorn)

8. El Generico beat Homicide, Kenny King and Mark Briscoe in a Four Corner Survival match. Generico pinned King after a Brainbuster. Post match Homicide gave Generico a Cop Killer and covered him with the Puerto Rican flag.

Whitmer told Page what happened between them the week before was because Steve Corino got in Page's head, but he's willing to forget it and be a team again, and asked to shake his hand. Page said Whitmer taught him a lot of things when they were together, one of which being The Decade doesn't shake hands. Page smacked Whitmer and the two started brawling, until referees and security ran out to break them up. Corino came out and, after Whitmer was escorted to the back, shook Page's hand.

- Bobby Fish joined in on commentary for the ROH World Television Championship match. Roderick Strong got on the mic and told Fish to pay attention as he beats Curry Man in under five minutes.

6. Roderick Strong (c) beat Curry Man to retain the ROH World Television Championship. The match took slightly longer than Strong said it would, going almost twenty minutes. Post match Bobby Fish, who was on commentary, applauded Strong.

7. Adam Cole beat Alex Shelley. End of the match, Shelley went for Sliced Bread #2, but Frankie Kazarian ran out and jumped on the ring apron, distracting the referee and allowing Cole to hit a low blow. Cole then hit a Last Shot for the win. Post match Kazarian held Shelley and told Chris Sabin, who was doing commentary, to hit him. Sabin was hesitant and before he could do anything ACH ran out and chased off Kazarian.

8. War Machine (Hanson & Rowe) & The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) beat The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) & The All-Night Express (Rhett Titus & Kenny King) in an Eight-Man Tag Team match. Jay pinned Titus after a Doomsday Device.

Titus said he's going to beat some honor into him. Promo from Gordon, who said he didn't shake Gresham hand because he didn't see any honor in how he won. Flip said he doesn't give a damn about Rhett Titus' feelings.

1. Flip Gordon beat Rhett Titus in a Pure Rules match. Flip won after a punch to the face (his first of the match, so he only received a warning) followed by a Flip Five.

- Quinn McKay was backstage to interview Flip Gordon, and informed him that due to not adhering to the Code of Honor at "Final Battle 2020" and for deliberately punching Titus in his match tonight, Gordon has been suspended from the Pure Division. Flip said he doesn't care because he still has a shot at the ROH World Championship, and maybe he'll enter the TV Title Division or find himself a partner and enter the Tag Division.

- They aired an interview with Rey Horus profiling his wrestling career.

- They aired an attempted interview with Dragon Lee, who, when asked to have a seat, kicked the chair across the room. Lee said he's going to destroy Rey Horus.

2. Dragon Lee (c) beat Rey Horus to retain the ROH World Television Championship. Lee won after two Incinerators, the second one sans knee pad.

- 2009: The clock was ticking on several of Ring of Honor's top wrestlers as ROH began 2009 with "Full Circle" in Manassas, VA. Tyler Black, now on his own, faced ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness in a non-title match, while his former Age of the Fall leader Jimmy Jacobs took on Bryan Danielson in a rematch over a year in the making. By the end of 2009, only one of the four would still in ROH. Following his heel turn at "Final Battle 2008", Austin Aries displayed a new attitude, and a new moustache, in his match against Jerry Lynn. The recently formed American Wolves continued Sweet n' Sour, Inc.'s war against ROH by taking on Jay Briscoe and Roderick Strong, Delirious showed his heart may still belong to Daizee Haze, and Pro Wrestling NOAH star Bison Smith made his surprise debut.

- 2016: ROH closed out the weekend with the "Winter Warriors Tour 2016" in Collinsville, IL. Alex Shelley teamed with ACH to take on The Young Bucks, while his former partner Chris Sabin teamed with Frankie Kazarian to face the ROH World Tag Team Champions War Machine in a non-title match. Cheeseburger was selected as a mystery opponent to challenge Roderick Strong for the ROH World Television Championship. It was a big opportunity for Cheeseburger, and a big slap in the face for Strong. And former partners came to blows when BJ Whitmer tried to cripple Adam Page.

- Before the show Kyle Durden interviewed Nigel McGuinness about surpassing Bryan Danielson as the second-longest reigning ROH World Champion, and asked if that made him the best in the world. McGuinness said, yeah, he agrees with that assessment. McGuinness said his body is falling apart, he's been getting injured was champion, but he's going to hold on to the belt and surpass Samoa Joe's reign just to piss off the wankers who want him to lose. His match against Tyler Black tonight is non-title, because Black doesn't deserve a title shot.

1. Brent Albright & Erick Stevens beat Damien Wayne & Chris Escobar. Albright pinned Escobar after a double-team Half-Nelson Suplex/Lariat combo.

2. Rhett Titus vs. Sean Denny ended in a no contest. The match was thrown out after Bison Smith came out through the crowd and laid out both wrestlers.

- Bryan Danielson said the past few years have seen Jimmy Jacobs change from an emo pining after Lacey to starting The Age of the Fall and becoming a miserable human being, but doing so turned him into a dominant force in ROH. Jacobs may have choked him out in their first singles match in 2007, but tonight Danielson is going to choke out Jacobs.

3. Necro Butcher beat Delirious (w/Jimmy Jacobs). Near the end of the match Jacobs jumped up on the ring apron to distract the referee and allow Delirious to pull the spike out of his boot. Daizee Haze ran out before he could use it, and convinced Delirious to give it to her. Jacobs followed Haze towards the back, distracting Delirious and allowing Necro to give him a chokeslam followed by a Tiger Driver. Post match Jacobs yelled at Delirious for letting that meddlesome little harlot cost him the match, and warned him what would happen if he failed him again. Delirious started to slink away like a beaten dog, but Jacobs told him he did it for his own good, because he loves him.

4. The American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) (w/Sweet n' Sour, Inc.) beat Jay Briscoe & Roderick Strong. Finish saw Richards slingshot Jay into Larry Sweeney, who hit him with a shoe, when the referee was distracted, followed by the Wolves hitting a Superkick/German Suplex combo.

- Backstage Jimmy Jacobs said he challenged Bryan Danielson to a match tonight for a reason. When Jacobs was teaming with Tyler Black, there came a point where everyone thought Black was the better wrestler. Everyone also thinks Bryan Danielson is the best wrestler in the world, so by beating the best in the world tonight, Jacobs will prove he's better than Tyler Black.

- A newly mustachioed Austin Aries came out for some promo time. Aries said everyone wants to know what's going on with him, Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black, and those questions will be answered when he publishes his manifesto. Of course, such a tome will take a long, long time to complete…but it will not take as long as "The Old F'N Show" Jerry Lynn has been in wrestling.

5. Jerry Lynn beat Austin Aries. Lynn won after countering a pin attempt into one of his own.

6. Jimmy Jacobs beat Bryan Danielson. Finish saw Danielson lock in a Triangle Choke, but Jacobs forced him back into a pin.

7. Tyler Black beat Nigel McGuinness. Before the match, when Bobby Cruise announced it was non-title match with a 45-min time limit, a fan sitting by one of the cameras said it was going to be 45-min draw. He was off by a day. Finish saw McGuinness go for a Jawbreaker Lariat, but Black flipped through it and picked up Nigel for a Bucklebomb followed by a Superkick. Post match Black posed with the title.

- Adam Page came out for his match against Michael Elgin, but was attacked by BJ Whitmer, who gave him a backbreaker on the guard rail. Whitmer said after everything he's done for Page, he got stabbed in the back, so now he's going to cripple him. Whitmer was getting ready to powerbomb Page on the edge of the ring frame when Elgin came out. Elgin said he didn't come here to wrestle someone who can't fight, so since Page was out he dared Whitmer to get in the ring. Whitmer refused, and Page got back to his feet and told him if he's not going to fight he can get the hell out. Page told Elgin he came for a fight, and he's not leaving until he gets one.

Strong said if Cheeseburger is still alive in five minutes, he's a lucky man.

Roderick Strong (c) beat Cheeseburger to retain the ROH World Television Championship. Cheeseburger was still alive after the match, so he's a lucky man.

4. The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) beat Silas Young & Beer City Bruiser. Mark pinned Bruiser after a J-Driller/Froggy Bow combo.

Today in Ring of Honor History: January 17

- 2009: ROH closed out their opening weekend with the aptly named "Injustice II" in Edison, NJ. The announced card was Nigel McGuinness defending the ROH World Championship against number one contender Austin Aries, while Tyler Black faced Jimmy Jacobs in a grudge match due to Jacobs turning on him at "Final Battle 2008". However, that was all cover to do McGuinness vs. Black for the second night in a row, this time with the title on the line. The resulting match was one of the most convoluted in ROH history, featuring false endings, an injury angle, half of the locker room doing run-ins, and most notoriously the bell ringing around the 49-minute mark and it being declared a "one hour draw". Still, it wasn't a bad match, just a weird one. Taken out of their respected matches, former enemies turned people-who-can-moderately-tolerate-each-other Aries and Jacobs spent the show forming a tentative alliance that would last the next couple of months. Bryan Danielson and Jerry Lynn met in a rematch from "All-Star Extravaganza IV" a few weeks before. The war between ROH and Sweet n' Sour, Inc. continued its push towards the final showdown with Roderick Strong and Erick Stevens facing The American Wolves in a Lumberjack Strap match. And, brother, Rhett Titus tried to say "Brother", brother, more times than Hulk Hogan could in ten promos, brother.

Payne said his favorite VideoWire moment was Brent Albright pie-facing Titus, and Titus began mocking Albright, unaware he was standing right behind him. Albright said Titus obviously has a problem with him, so they'll settle it tonight.

- The American Wolves were in the locker room warming up for their match by hitting the punching bag (Bobby Dempsey). Larry Sweeney told Roderick Strong whether it’s a Lumberjack Strap match or a Cage match, Sweet n' Sour, Inc. doesn't back down from a fight, and tonight, they'll find out what happens when you send a sheep to kill a wolf. Davey Richards then showed Strong what was in store for him tonight, by taking off his belt and beating Dempsey with it.

1. Brent Albright beat Rhett Titus

2. Delirious beat Damien Wayne, Necro Butcher and Sean Denny in a Four Corner Survival match. Delirious pinned Denny after a Cobra Clutch Suplex, followed by a Panic Attack, and then Shadows Over Hell.

- Grizzly Redwood was backstage and asked why everyone was crowded around a piece of paper on the wall. Kyle Durden said is was a sign up for lumberjacks, and Redwood ordered everyone out of the way so he could sign.

- Kyle Durden interviewed Austin Aries, and said Aries owed the fans an explanation as to what happened with him, Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black. Aries said he doesn't owe the fans anything, but they do owe him an explanation for turning on him after all he's done for ROH. Aries said he and Jacobs beat the hell out of each other for eight months, and for eight months the fans reveled in their pain and agony. After repeatedly failing to hold the microphone right, Aries took it away from Durden. Aries said he was done wrestling for the snowflakes (odd hearing it years before it was a common political insult), he's wrestling for himself. Aries then said he did become the number one contender for the ROH World Championship, but he's going to hold on to that title shot and not challenge Nigel McGuinness in the main event tonight, because Edison is a B-Show, and A Double doesn't main event B-Shows. Aries called over Durden to do his job and the microphone, then punched him in the face. Tyler Black came out and said, unlike Aries, he thinks the fans deserve to see an ROH World Championship match tonight. Even though he wants to kill Jimmy Jacobs, he wants the ROH World Championship more, and asked Cary Silkin to pull him from his match with Jacobs and let him face McGuinness instead. While waiting for an answer, Black said he also has a score to settle with Aries, and started making his way to the ring, but Jacobs ran out and jumped him. Jacobs and Aries attacked Black, until Jay Briscoe made the save. Jay said he's sick of little bitches jumping people from behind, and said if Aries and Jacobs want to fight, he'll fight them right now.

3. Jay Briscoe beat Austin Aries and Jimmy Jacobs in a Three-Way match. Frienimes Aries and Jacobs tried to work together, but kept arguing and bumping head. Jay pinned Jacobs with a roll up after he accidently speared Aries.

- Bobby Cruise announced that, due to beating Nigel McGuinness in a non-title match the night before, and with Austin Aries withdrawing from tonight's title match, Tyler Black will challenge for the ROH World Championship in the main event. After the announcement, Prince Nana ran in through the crowd and tried to get the microphone, but security ejected him from the building.

4. The American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) (w/Sweet n' Sour, Inc.) beat Roderick Strong & Erick Stevens in a Lumberjack Strap match. Near the end of the match, when the referee was distracted checking on Strong after a dive, Larry Sweeney ran into the ring with a steel chair to attack Albright, but bailed when Brent Albright came running out of the back. Albright chased Sweeney to the back, while Edwards picked up the chair and hit Stevens over the head with it, then got the pin.

5. Grizzly Redwood vs. Chris Escobar ended in a no contest. The match was stopped after Bison Smith ran out through the crowd and laid out both wrestlers.

6. Jerry Lynn beat Bryan Danielson

7. Nigel McGuinness (c) vs. Tyler Black ended in a "60 minute" time limit draw in a match for the ROH World Championship. Minutes into the match, after repeatedly brawling on the floor saw him being thrown into the guardrails and chairs, McGuinness picked up the belt and said he has a torn bicep, and he's already beaten Black several times, so he's leaving because Black doesn't deserve a title shot. Bryan Danielson came out and told McGuinness when he was champion he wrestled for months with a separated shoulder, so if McGuinness doesn't get back in the ring and continue, he's going to kill him. Black jumped McGuinness and threw him back in the ring, and the match continued. Later on in the match, McGuinness threw Black over the top rope, causing him to slide across the timekeeper's table and land back first over the edge of the chair. Several referees came out to check on Black, and eventually started to help him to the back. McGuinness got on the mic and said its because of the fans' bloodthirsty nature that Black got hurt and can't continue, so the match is over, good night. Black started making his way back to the ring, and McGuinness warned him if he gave up and went to the back he'd have a career, but if he gets in the ring McGuinness is going to kill him. Black got back in the ring, and the match continued. Around the 30-minute mark, Black went for a Phoenix Splash, but Jimmy Jacobs ran out and jumped on the ring apron, distracting the referee and allowing Austin Aries to run in through the crowd and shove Black off the top rope. Aries then gave Black a Brainbuster on the floor, and when the referee went to check on Black, Jerry Lynn ran out and gave McGuinness a Cradle Piledriver. Aries and Jacobs attacked Lynn, until Jay Briscoe ran out to attack Aries and Jacobs. Then The American Wolves ran out to attack Jay, followed by Roderick Strong, Brent Albright and Erick Stevens running out to attack the Wolves. With half the locker room brawling around ringside during the title match, fans began booing and chanting "Bullshit". Bryan Danielson came out and yelled at all of them, saying they don't do this type of garbage during an ROH World Championship match, and ordered them all to the back. Jacobs jumped Danielson from behind, and the fighting continued. After all the wrestlers not involved in the match began brawling in the crowd, Bobby Cruise announced the referee and Cary Silkin have decided the title match will continue. About fifteen minutes later, an exhausted Black hit the same combo on McGuinness that he did the night before. Black started crawling to cover him when the bell rang and it was announced it was a time limit draw. ROH thought fans wouldn't notice the one hour draw went less than 50 minutes, forgetting there are people like the infamous Green Lantern Fan who go to the show with a notebook and stopwatch to record match times. First fans chanted "Bullshit!", then "Five more minute!". Black got on the microphone and begged Cary Silkin for five more minutes, followed by McGuinness getting on the mic saying he doesn't normally do this, but if it's okay with Black, if it's okay with Cary, if it's okay with the fans, then…you can kiss his ass, Black got too much time already, the match is over. Fans resumed the "Bullshit!" chants.

Today in Ring of Honor History: January 18

- 2013: ROH continued its push towards the anniversary show with "The Hunt for Gold" in Dearborn, MI. The Briscoes defended the ROH World Tag Team Championship against The American Wolves in their first match against each other in two and a half years, and their last title match together. Local wrestler Tadarius Thomas, with seven main show matches under his belt, was given a shot at the ROH World Championship, challenging Kevin Steen. Fellow Michigan wrestler Jimmy Jacobs was not given a shot at the ROH World Television Championship, but instead received a shot at a shot at the title, facing Adam Cole in a Proving Ground match. Building up to his ROH World Championship match at the "11th Anniversary", Jay Lethal faced Steen's S.C.U.M. ally Steve Corino, who had a few kind words for Nigel McGuinness for booking the match. In a battle of the big men, Michael Elgin took on S.C.U.M. enforcer and hometown hero Rhino. And Charlie Haas shared some beers with the crowd.

1. Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish beat Rhett Titus & BJ Whitmer. Fish pinned Titus after Chasing the Dragon. Post match O'Reilly shook Titus' hand, but refused to shake hands with Whitmer.

- Steve Corino came out and told Jay Lethal it was a dirty of him to use his family in a ploy to get a shot at the ROH World Championship. Corino told him to apologize to S.C.U.M. for trying to use his family like that, but Lethal told him to go to hell. Corino the said he banged Lethal's mom, so Lethal slapped him.

2. Jay Lethal beat Steve Corino. Lethal won after Hail to the King. Post match Corino yelled at ROH Matchmaker Nigel McGuinness, who was on commentary, for booking the match. Corino told that British prick, unlike him, he gets in the ring because he's a real man. McGuinness left commentary and went backstage to deal with Corino.

4. Kevin Steen (c) beat Tadarius Thomas to retain the ROH World Championship

- Trey Miguel and Brent Daniels came out for a singles match, but a minute into the match Charlie Haas came out with a case of beer and broke it up. After some choice words for Dearborn having a large Muslim population, and spraying beer on some fans, Haas told ROH they aren't going to censor him and keep him out of matches, and told Miguel and Daniels he's facing the both of them.

5. Charlie Haas beat Trey Miguel & Brent Daniels in a Handicap match. Haas won with a double Haas of Pain on both wrestlers. Post match "Stone Cold" Charlie Haas celebrated with a couple Charlieweisers.

- Nigel McGuinness and Steve Corino joined commentary, with McGuinness telling Kevin Kelly he fined Corino for his behavior earlier.

6. Adam Cole beat Jimmy Jacobs in a Proving Ground match. Finish saw Jacobs go for a spear, but Cole superkicked him in mid-air, then hit a Florida Keys for the win.

7. Michael Elgin beat Rhino. Before the match, Rhino cut a hometown hero promo.

8. The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) (c) beat The American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) to retain the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Near the end of the match Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish came out to watch. Finish saw Mark shove Richards off the top rope through the commentary table, followed by the Briscoes hitting a Doomsday Device on Edwards, only to get a two count. Jay then quickly hit a J-Driller for the win.

- 2013: ROH further built towards the anniversary show with "Defy or Deny 2" in Milwaukee, WI. The main event saw the second ever "Defy or Deny" match, with ROH World Champion Kevin Steen facing Eddie Edwards, Michael Elgin, and the winner of the first "Defy or Deny" match, Roderick Strong. If any of the challengers won the match, they'd get a shot at the title; if Steen won, the last one would eliminated would be barred from challenging for the title for the remainder of Steen's reign. Davey Richards took on his former protégé Kyle O'Reilly, Jay Lethal and The Briscoes teamed up to face S.C.U.M., and Matt Hardy's frustration was building with ROH matchmaker Nigel McGuinness and ROH World Television Champion Adam Cole.

- 2021: In an ROH Dojo showcase on "Week by Week", Dante Caballero, Eric Martin, Joe Keys and Ken Dixon met in a Gauntlet match with the winner receiving a shot at the ROH Pure Championship.

1. Adam Cole beat Silas Young. Finish saw Young go for a Pee Gee Waja Plunge, but Cole hit a superkick on him when he was doing the headstand, followed by a Florida Keys for the win.

2. Bobby Fish (w/Kyle O'Reilly) beat Tadarius Thomas. Truth Martini came out mid-match to scout talent.

- Charlie Haas came out with a case of beer for his singles match against Rhett Titus. Haas said he comes here and they serve him Milwaukee's Best, but then he's booked to wrestle ROH's Worst. Haas said he should be wrestling Kevin Steen for the ROH World Championship instead, but wrestling Titus isn't all bad, as he gets to leave "this s***hole town" earlier.

3. Charlie Haas beat Rhett Titus. Finish saw Titus bust a can of beer open by hitting Haas in the head with it, then went for a Frog Splash, but Haas got the knees up and the pin.

4. S.C.U.M. (Jimmy Jacobs, Steve Corino & Rhino) beat Jay Lethal & The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) in a Six-Man Tag Team match. Corino cut a promo before the match burying "the only wrestling legend to come out of Milwaukee", The Crusher. Rhino pinned Mark after a Gore.

- Matt Hardy came out and said he didn't know why he's wrestling BJ Whitmer tonight when he should be the ROH World Television Champion. Hardy said he was sick of ROH Matchmaker Nigel McGuinness not giving him a title shot against the paper champion Adam Cole. He's also sick of Whitmer claiming to be "strong than death", when that's what is printed on Hardy's official t-shirt. Whitmer said Hardy needs to forget his fixation with the TV title, and realize he's standing across the ring from one of the toughest sons of bitches in ROH history.

5. Matt Hardy beat BJ Whitmer. Finish saw Hardy lock on the White Light Experience in the center of the ring, but Whitmer refused to quit, so Rhett Titus ran out and threw in the towel for him. Post match Nigel McGuinness and several referees came out to check on Whitmer. Hardy got on the mic and told McGuinness he won't stop, he'll defeat every member of the ROH roster if he has to, until that "Matt Hardy wannabe" Adam Cole gives him a title shot. Cole came out and said he has no problem defending the title against him, because he wants payback for Hardy winning with a low blow at "Final Battle 2012: Doomsday". Hardy tried to low blow him again, but Cole blocked and the two started brawling. Security ran in to hold Cole back, allowing Hardy to grab the TV title and hit Cole in the head with it.

6. Davey Richards beat Kyle O'Reilly. Finish saw Richards hit a number of big moves, but O'Reilly refused to say down. After being kicked in the head, O'Reilly stopped the three count by grabbing the referee's arm. Richards then hit another kick to the head for the win.



7. Defy or Deny match: Kevin Steen vs. Eddie Edwards vs. Michael Elgin vs. Roderick Strong

- Elgin was eliminated by Strong after a jumping knee, elbow, and Strong Breaker.
- Strong was eliminated by Edwards and Steen. Edwards put Strong in an Achilles Lock and repeatedly stomped on his head, followed by Steen hitting a summersault leg drop to the head, knocking him out.
- Edwards was eliminated by Steen after Package Piledriver on the edge of the ring. As a result of being the last person eliminated, Edwards is barred from challenging for the ROH World Championship for the remainder of Steen's reign.

- Post match a few fans threw beer cans into the ring when Steen's back was turned, so he dared them to get into the ring and see how their throwing arms feel then. Steen then turned his back and other fan threw a can, so Steen dared him to get in the ring. The fan (who could've passed for Shane Hagadorn's brother) climbed halfway over the guard railing and started flipping Steen off, but Steen told him to go ahead and do what everyone knows he's going to, sit down and shut up like a good little bitch. Steen said he doesn't care if you don't think he's the best in the world, because he's definitely the baddest in the word. Steen then went and argued with the fan while referees and security held them back.

Today in Ring of Honor History: January 20

- 2012: After burning out with city with repeated free HDNet tapings, Ring of Honor returned to its original home of Philadelphia, PA for the first time in a year with "Homecoming 2012". The main event saw ROH World Champion Davey Richards defend his title against ROH World Television Champion Jay Lethal. Former champion and Davey's ex-partner Eddie Edwards was scheduled to face Roderick Strong in a No Holds Barred match, but was forced to pull out when not medically cleared and replaced by Adam Cole. Cole pulled double duty for the night, tagging one last time with Kyle O'Reilly as a regular tag team to face Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team. The "will they/won't they" became a definite they will, and Chris Hero wrestled his final match for Ring of Honor before signing with WWE. Also making his final appearance was super beloved manager Shane Hagadorn, who received a parting gift from Hero. Kevin Steen tried to see if there was still some evil in Steve Corino. And a Proving Ground match between The Briscoes and Hallowicked and Jigsaw saw the invasion of the CHIKARA locker room, laying the groundwork for a future double-shot and an interpromotional feud that would carry on in CHIKARA.

- 2018: ROH began 2018 with a television taping in Nashville, TN. New ROH World Champion Dalton Castle made his first title defense against Punishment Martinez, while SoCal Uncensored, with their days numbered, tried to win gold by challenging Bullet Club for the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship. Cody kicked off a feud with Matt Taven, while fellow Bullet Club member Marty Scurll looked to get into the World title picture by challenging three different people. The Briscoes sent a message to the ROH World Tag Team Champions the Motor City Machine Guns, the tournament to crown the first ever Women of Honor World Champion kicked off, and Ring of Honor got a new Commissioner Matchmaker Authority Figure Enforcer: Bully Ray.

- Bobby Cruise announced that, due to a staph infection, Eddie Edwards was not cleared to compete by the State Athletic Commission. In a moment that hasn't aged well since what happened to Jimmy Rave last year, an irritated Edwards came out and said he's wrestled with broken elbows, separated shoulders, and numerous concussions, but is off the show because a "pussy ass doctor" won't let him wrestle with a "pussy ass staph infection". This resulted in a loud "F*** the doctor!" chant. Edwards then welcomed the fans to the show.

1. Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin) beat Future Shock (Adam Cole & Kyle O'Reilly). Before the match, WGTT cut a promo running down Philadelphia and the fans. Finish saw O'Reilly hit a charging forearm on Haas in one corner, and then attempted one of Benjamin in another, but he moved out of the way and O'Reilly hit Cole instead. Benjamin disposed of O'Reilly, then WGTT hit a Double Powerbomb on Cole for the win.

- Promo from Grizzly Redwood saying ROH was back in his hometown of Philadelphia, and he's going to chop down the competition in Four Corner Survival.

2. Tommaso Ciampa (w/The Embassy) beat Andy Ridge, Grizzly Redwood and Mike Bennett in a Four Corner Survival match. Ciampa pinned Redwood after an Air Raid Crash on the edge of the ring, followed by a Project Ciampa.

- Adam Cole argued with Kyle O'Reilly backstage, and said every time Future Shock comes close to moving up the ladder in ROH, something keeps stopping them. Cole said if they're ever to become ROH World Tag Team Champions, they need to get refocused.

- Backstage Prince Nana said The Embassy is going to party and celebrate Tommaso Ciampa's win with champagne and shrimp cocktail. RD Evans said the people who should be enjoying themselves the most are The Embassy's investors, and that starts by getting Ciampa matches that matter. Ciampa said if Jay Lethal beats Davey Richards for the ROH World Championship tonight, his upcoming Proving Ground match won't just be for the ROH World Television Championship, and that will make the investors happy.

- Steve Corino came out and said in 2011 he tried to redeem himself from being evil, and at "Final Battle 2011" his loss let the monster Kevin Steen back in ROH, but he won the respect of the fans and his peers. Corino said in 2012 he's going keep going and continue to earn the respect of guys like Jay Lethal and Davey Richards. Davey's music hit, but Kevin Steen came out. Steen said Corino doesn't want to admit it, but deep down he's still an evil man. Steen said Corino doesn't need to earn the respect of the locker room, because he's a veteran and they should've respected him from the start; likewise, he doesn't need respect from the office, because the office is just one fat, miserable man who ran a hick promotion into the ground, got fired from WWE for slapping Santino, and wished death on his former boss for not agreeing with him on wrestling. Steen said people respected Corino more when he was stabbing people with forks than they do now that he's kissing Jim Cornette's ass. Steen said he's here for Corino, whether that means fighting him, or making him realize who he truly is so they can burn ROH down to the ground. Steen told Corino to punch him or hug him, but instead Corino just walked away.

3. Kevin Steen beat Kenny King (w/Rhett Titus). Finish saw King go for Shotgun Knees in the corner, but Steen caught him and hit an F5. Post match Steen picked up King to give him a Package Piledriver, but Titus hobbled into the ring and hit him with one of his crutches. Steen took the crutch and attacked Titus' injured knee with it, then put him in a Sharpshooter until King shoved him off.

4. Michael Elgin (w/Truth Martini) beat Chris Hero. Before the match, Shane Hagadorn ran out and wanted to be in Hero's corner, but Hero said he's going to do this tonight by himself, and sent him to the back. Elgin won after a Bucklebomb followed by an Elgin Bomb. Post match Hagadorn came back out and congratulated Hero on doing the match by himself, look how well it turned out, just like at "Final Battle 2011". Hero started to leave and Hagadorn said maybe it wasn't "Chris is awesome", it was really "Claudio was awesome". Hero stopped in his tracks, and Hagadorn said the truth is "Shane was awesome" because without him the Kings of Wrestling wouldn't have been the longest reigning ROH World Tag Team Champions in history. Hagadorn said Hero needs him more than he needs Hero, because the fact is Hero isn't just a bum, he's a bum nobody wants. Hero knocked out Hagadorn with a hard elbow.

- Kevin Steen said he's been the talk of ROH for a long time, because he ended 2009 with a bang by turning on El Generico, he ended 2010 by losing his job in ROH, and he ended 2011 by getting his job back. How's he going to end 2012? By being ROH World Champion, and he took his first step tonight beating Kenny King. Steen told King he'll be the man in ROH one day, but he's not going to achieve it until he cuts the "dead weight", and recommended King watch "Final Battle 2009". Steen said he's going to run through everyone Jim Cornette puts in his path until he gets Davey Richards.

- Truth Martini was backstage with Michael Elgin and said history repeated itself tonight. At "Final Battle 2011", Chris Hero lost to Roderick Strong, and tonight Hero lost to Elgin. Elgin said everything That Young Knockout Kid did couldn't knock out Michael Elgin, because 2012 is the start of Elgin's path to the ROH World Championship.

- Roderick Strong came out with Truth Martini, and wished luck to ROH World Champion Davey Richards and ROH World Television Champion Jay Lethal. Strong said after he kicks Eddie Edwards ass, which sadly he can't do tonight, he's coming for both titles. Strong said its unfortunate everyone else is booked tonight, because now he has no one to face in his match, so they may as well ring the bell and let him win by forfeit. Adam Cole came out and said he respects Edwards, so he'll take his place tonight, and they can even keep it No Holds Barred. Martini said No Holds Barred means there are no rules, so basically the match is 1-on-2, but Cole knocked him out with a Superkick.

5. Roderick Strong beat Adam Cole in a No Holds Barred match. Near the end of the match Michael Elgin ran out and attacked Cole, but Eddie Edwards ran out and fought him off. Strong won after a kick to the back of the head followed by a Strong Breaker.

- Veda Scott interviewed the Briscoes backstage about CHIKARA's Proving Ground match. Mark said what they got to prove is they got some daggone sense, what with them boys walking around looking like bugs, beetles, and so for and so on. Jay said this ain't the Comic Book Factory, its Ring of Honor. Both companies started in Philadelphia, but they're walking into the Briscoes' house.

- Roderick Strong said Adam Cole showed he had heart tonight, but in the end he learned only the strong survive.

6. Hallowicked & Jigsaw beat The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) in a Proving Ground match to earn a shot at the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Mid-match the CHIKARA locker room started coming out for support after the Briscoes threw Hallowicked into the guard rail and put Jigsaw through a table. Near the end of the match, Mark turned Hallowicked's mask around, distracting the referee who tried to help him fix it. Meanwhile Jay took out Dasher Hatfield and threw Saturyne in the ring. Jay picked her up, but Fire Ant went for a dive; Jay ducked out the way of Fire Ant, but then ate a superkick from Jigsaw, who rolled him up for the win. Post match Jay used some very un-CHIKARA-like language and said they didn't sign up to fight baseball players, bitches, bugs, and Looney Tunes. Jay said CHIKARA just signed their death wish, because when Hallowicked and Jigsaw get their title shot, they're gonna die. The great and devious UltraMantis Black said CHIKARA is a family, so they'll be there to support Hallowicked and Jigsaw as a family. UMB said since the Briscoes want to mess with something sacred to CHIKARA like masks (and after seeing the Briscoes in person, they could use some masks themselves), they'll mess with something sacred to Briscoes and bring the ROH World Tag Team Championship back to CHIKARA.

- They tried to get a promo from Davey Richards, but he said actions speak louder than words, and the ROH World Championship speaks louder than his words.

7. Davey Richards (c) beat Jay Lethal to retain the ROH World Championship. Richards won after a series of strikes and kicks to the head. Post match Richards put over Lethal and the fans, saying ROH wouldn't exist without Philadelphia.

1. Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) vs. Best Friends (Chuckie T & Beretta) ended in a no contest. The match was stopped after the Briscoes ran out and attacked both teams. Best Friends bailed to the back while Mark ziptied Shelley to the ropes and made him watch Jay give Sabin a J-Driller onto a steel chair.

- They cut to a promo of Silas Young, Beer City Bruiser and Brain Milonas, who said next week Bruiser and Milonas start knocking heads together.

- They aired a promo package from Punishment Martinez, highlighting his history in ROH and building up to his ROH World Championship match against Dalton Castle.

2. Marty Scurll beat Shane Taylor. Finish saw Scurll grab his umbrella to use on Taylor, but Taylor took it away from him, followed by the referee taking it away from Taylor. As the referee disposed of the umbrella, Scurll threw powder in Taylor's eyes and rolled him up for the win. Post match Scurll called out Punishment Martinez, and said he thinks Martinez is going to beat Dalton Castle for the ROH World Championship, and when he does, Scurll wants to be the first challenger. Martinez agreed, then gave Scurll a chokeslam.

3. Cody beat Matt Taven (w/The Kingdom). Near the end of the match the referee ejected The Kingdom after they were getting ready to interfere. Taven tried to hit Cody with his walking stick while the referee was preoccupied, but Cody hit a low blow and rolled him up for the win. Post match The Kingdom attacked Cody, with Taven stealing the Ring of Honor.

- Dalton Castle said not much surprises him, so when he won the ROH World Championship he knew he became a target. Castle told Punishment Martinez he's coming out swinging and doing everything he can to leave still the champion.

1. Coast 2 Coast (Leon St. Giovanni & Shaheem Ali) vs. Beer City Bruiser & Brian Milonas (w/Silas Young) ended in a no contest. The bell was called for after Kenny King ran out and attack Young for repeatedly interfering, and all six started brawling.

2. Kenny King & Coast 2 Coast (Leon St. Giovanni & Shaheem Ali) beat Silas Young, Beer City Bruiser & Brian Milonas in a Six-Man Tag Team match. King pinned Young after Royal Flush.

- The Dawgs were backstage watching the match on a handheld monitor, and said it was time to send Coast 2 Coast packing.



3. Women of Honor Championship Tournament - Opening Round: Madison Rayne vs. Mandy Leon

- They aired footage of Cody returning to the locker room after the previous episode. Cody demanded to know where The Young Bucks were when he was getting attacked by The Kingdom, but they said their flight was late and they just got to the building. Cody said everyone wants Bullet Club to break up, but they can't let that happen, so he needs better from everyone. Marty Scurll came in and asked what they thought a sweet sign a fan made him, but the Bucks said it wasn't the right time…and they spelled his name wrong.

- Briscoe Brothers were backstage, and they said they're at a point in their career where they don't care about the fans or hurting people in the ring, they're just making statements. What they did to the Motor City Machine Guns wasn't personal, its just because they're the ROH World Tag Team Champions, and the belts is dem boys' property and they need to come home.

4. Dalton Castle (w/The Boys) (c) beat Punishment Martinez to retain the ROH World Championship. Finish saw Martinez go for a Psycho Driver, but Castle elbowed him in the head then rolled him up. Post match Martinez took out his frustrations on The Boys.

Lethal said the reason he's number one contender is because he's beaten a long list of people, including Scurll himself at "Final Battle 2017". Scurll said if Lethal's so confident he can beat him, once Lethal beats Castle for the title he wants to be the first challenger.



2. Women of Honor Championship Tournament - Opening round: Brandi Rhodes vs. Karen Q

3. The Hung Bucks (Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson & Adam Page) (c) beat SoCal Uncensored (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) to retain the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship. SCU initially won the match after Sky hit Matt with one of the title belts behind the referee's back, but Bully Ray came out and said ROH COO Joe Koff just made him the Enforcer of ROH, and ordered the match restarted. Matt then pinned Daniels after Meltzer Driver.

- 2011: ROH returned to Philadelphia, PA to begin its final round of HDNet tapings. Highlighted on the show were ROH's new young talent, who competed in the inaugural Top Prospect Tournament: future 3-time ROH World Champion Adam Cole, the debuting future ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham, future ROH World Champion Kyle O'Reilly, future ROH World Champion Michael Elgin, future 2-time ROH World Tag Team Champion Mike Bennett, and ROH Wrestling Academy graduates Andy Ridge, Bobby Dempsey and Grizzly Redwood. ROH World Television Champion Christopher Daniels pulled double duty with two title defenses, and the ROH World Tag Team Champions the Kings of Wrestling and The All-Night Express met in a pair of singles match in advance of their title match at the "9th Anniversary Show". Meanwhile, after its members were released when Adam Pearce was fired as booker, Prince Nana looked to start the third version of The Embassy.

- 2012: ROH presented "Underground" in Norfolk, VA. The event was appropriately named, taking place in one of the Norfolk Scope exhibition halls, which Shelton Benjamin referred to as a "basement", that was so small they had to use the house lights because the ceiling was too low for their light stands. The show was also one of the few from that era not given its own DVD release, but was included as a bonus on the subsequent show's release. Longtime rivals met in the main event when ROH World Champion Davey Richards teamed with Kyle O'Reilly to face Roderick Strong and Michael Elgin of The House of Truth, in a match to determine the number one contenders for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Meanwhile the reigning champions The Briscoes defended the titles against local-ish wrestlers Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander (who got big timed big time), and continued their feud with Wrestling's Greatest tag Team. In a match between two guys who would go on to have absolutely no involvement whatsoever with each other anywhere in professional wrestling, Kevin Steen took on rising star Adam Cole in their first ever singles match. The Embassy was in the money after Tommaso Ciampa faced ROH World Television Champion Jay Lethal in a Proving Ground match. And Mike Bennett has herpes.

- It's time for the main event match between Kenny King and Chris Hero, but Homicide hijacked the ring and the match was pushed to next week. Homicide said he won the ROH World Championship in 2006 but lost the belt a short while later to "a fat slob from Japan" and never got a rematch. Homicide said ROH World Champion Roderick Strong has been dodging him for months because he knows he can't beat him, but he'll finally get his match at the "9th Anniversary Show" and once again be ROH World Champion. Strong came out and said that while Homicide off in Orlando sucking on Konnan's tits, he's been dominating ROH. Homicide is a has-been who ruined Strong's celebration when he won the title, and he wants an apology. Homicide said he was sorry…for not doing this sooner, and punched Strong in the face. The two started brawling, with referees coming out to break it up, and when that failed the locker room emptying to break it up. Homicide won the brawl by depantsing Strong, who had to go back to the locker room in his underwear.

- Jim Cornette interviewed Davey Richards, who said failing to win the ROH World Championship at "Final Battle 2010" proved he's not the best wrestler in the world. Richards said he won't accept another title shot until he's trained hard enough and earned one in the ring, because if he fails to win his next title shot, he'll never challenge for the ROH World Championship again. Richards said his road to title starts at the "9th Anniversary Show" in Chicago when he faces Colt Cabana.

- Kyle Durden tried to interview the Briscoes, but they stole the microphone and shoved him out of the way. Dem boys said forget Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin; in ROH, they're the greatest tag team.

2. Claudio Castagnoli (w/Sara Del Rey & Shane Hagadorn) beat Rhett Titus. Finish saw Titus hit a combo of running moves on Castagnoli, but on the last one Hagadorn grabbed his leg, throwing off his momentum and allowing Castagnoli to clothesline him for the win. Post match Kenny King came out and yelled at the referee about the interference, but was jumped by Chris Hero. Both teams briefly brawled until ANX got the advantage and referees ran out to split them up.

3. Kenny King (w/Rhett Titus) beat Chris Hero (w/Claudio Castagnoli, Sara Del Rey & Shane Hagadorn). Near the end of the match Del Rey jumped up on the ring apron to distract the referee and allow Hagadorn to hold King for a running elbow from Hero, but King ducked out of the way and Hero hit Hagadorn instead. King then rolled up Hero for the win. Post match KOW attacked ANX, while Del Rey and Hagadorn held off security from running into the ring to break it up.

- Backstage after commercial, Kyle Durden interviewed Grizzly Redwood and Andy Ridge about their match. Steve Corino came over and wish them good luck.

- Jim Cornette brought out Eddie Edwards, who's off tonight's show due to a staph infection. Edwards said he wants to wrestle but the doctors and (looking straight at Cornette) ROH officials won't let him, so sorry and enjoy the show. Cornette put over Edwards for wrestling injured multiple times in the past, but said with staph it's not safe for other wrestlers to compete after he does, so the doctors and, yes, ROH officials pulled him from the show.

- Veda Scott interviewed Andy Ridge, who said he's frustrated because he did the Trial Series over a year ago, but the wins still aren't adding up for him. Ridge is going to unleash his frustration on Kenny King tonight.

1. Kenny King beat Andy Ridge. Post match backstage, King put over Ridge, saying he's tough and needs to keep pushing his way to the top of the ladder.

- Mike Bennett came out for his match against Grizzly Redwood. Bennett said he was scheduled to face Eddie Edwards tonight, but he came down with a case of chickenpox and pulled out of the match. Bennett said it’s a good thing he's out, because if they'd wrestled, whatever Edwards had crawling on his skin would get on him and then be passed to his Playboy girlfriend, and she doesn't want that. A fan yelled out "She's already got herpes!", which stopped Bennett dead in his tracks and got a big pop. While fans began to chant "You've got herpes", Bennett said now he's set to face Redwood, so he's going to do Grizzly a favor tonight and let him just walk away from the match. Redwood said he's going to shut Bennett's big mouth.

2. Mike Bennett beat Grizzly Redwood. Finish saw Redwood go for a diving cross body, but Bennett caught him, then put him up on his shoulders and hit a TKO.

- Veda Scott interviewed Adam Cole and asked if he's nervous to face Kevin Steen tonight. Cole said of course he's nervous, but he's also underestimated by Steen, and that makes him dangerous.

3. Kevin Steen beat Adam Cole. Post match Steen picked up Cole of a Package Piledriver, but Eddie Edwards made the save. Jim Cornette and several officials ran out to keep them separated, but Steen said Edwards has herpes so he's not going near him.

- Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander said the Briscoes brought their whole family down to watch them defend the ROH World Tag Team Championship, but Norfolk has a connection with C&C which is destiny, and they're bring the titles home.

4. The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) (c) beat Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander to retain the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Jay pinned Alexander after a Doomsday Device. Post match the Briscoes made C&C wait for the Code of Honor handshake while they strapped on their tag belts, then blew off the handshake anyway and walked off. Backstage Jay said he told Shanequa and Boomkesha they were crazy for thinking they'd win the titles. Mark said no no, they about ready, they in the oven, but they ain't quiet done yet, need a bit of seasoned salt before they're ready.

- Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team came out and said they've wrestled in MSG, the Cow Palace, the Tokyo Dome, and the real Norfolk Scope…but now they're in a garage to wrestle in front of these losers. Not only did ROH make it worse by not giving them a shot at the ROH World Tag Team Championship, but they're booked to wrestle a couple of nobodies.

5. A-1 (Jefferson Early & Zachary Hilton) beat Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin) by disqualification. A-1, a local team, got more streamers than anyone else on the show. WGTT was disqualified for shoving the referee after he repeatedly told Haas he had to get out of the ring after a tag. Post match WGTT continued to attack A-1 and brought a chair into the ring, but the Briscoes ran out and jumped them. Both teams brawled until security and officials broke them up.

- Backstage Jay Lethal said the only reason Tommaso Ciampa is on a winning streak is because he's surrounded by goons who help him win, but that streak end tonight, because everybody falls to the Lethal Injection.

6. Tommaso Ciampa (w/The Embassy) beat Jay Lethal in a Proving Ground match to win a shot at the ROH World Television Championship. Finish saw Lethal take out Ciampa and go for a Lethal Injection, but Ciampa's goons all jumped up on the ring apron to distract them. Lethal disposed of them all, but the time allowed Ciampa to get to his feet and hit Project Ciampa for the win. Post match The Embassy celebrated with the ROH World Television Championship.

7. Davey Richards & Kyle O'Reilly beat The House of Truth (Roderick Strong & Michael Elgin w/Truth Martini) to earn win a shot at the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Finish saw Martini try to hit O'Reilly with a shoe, but O'Reilly moved out of the way and Martini hit Strong instead. O'Reilly then rolled up Strong for the win. Post match Richards put over O'Reilly and ROH, and thanked the fans for coming to the show.

- Backstage Roderick Strong yelled at Truth Martini for hitting him with a shoe and costing them the match, but Michael Elgin said he was overreacting.

- Prince Nana told Princess Mia he took the money the investors put into The Embassy and bought her a new Jaguar, put a down payment on that 18-bedroom home she wanted in Ghana, and bought two tickets to Paris. - 2011: Ring of Honor returned to Philadelphia, PA to hold their final taping for HDNet. The final episode was a Six-Man Tag Team match featuring some of the most prominent wrestlers of the HDNet run: Davey Richards and The Briscoes versus ROH World Champion Roderick Strong the ROH World Tag Team Champions the Kings of Wrestling (though in continuity all three were ex-champions, as the episode aired after they'd lost their titles on subsequent events). Mike Bennett faced Kyle O'Reilly in the finals of the inaugural Top Prospect Tournament, which furthered his feud with Steve Corino. Tommaso Ciampa made his debut as the new focus of The Embassy, and Bobby Dempsey wrestled his final match for ROH.

- 2021: On the weekly episode of Ring of Honor Wrestling, Josh Woods and Dalton Castle faced off in a Pure Rules match, while The Foundation took on Shane Taylor Promotions in a Six-Man Tag Team match.

3. Roderick Strong beat El Generico, Homicide and Jay Briscoe in a Four Corner Survival match. Finish saw Generico take out Jay with a Brainbuster, but referee wouldn't count the pin because Generico wasn't legal man, Strong was. Strong kneed Generico in the face, then pinned Jay.

Corino got in the ring and said he was wrong about O'Reilly winning, but right about Bennett being overconfident. Corino said he used to be just like Bennett when he started his career, and now years later he doesn't have the respect of the wrestlers or the fans. Bennett told Corino to stay out of his business. Corino started brawling with him and Evans, but the numbers were against him.

- They aired an interview with Josh Woods, who said beating Dalton Castle would shoot him up to the top of the rankings. Woods guaranteed he'd become a champion in ROH by the end of the year.

- A busy Dalton Castle sat down for a quick interview. Castle said his recent win-loss record hasn't been great, and Woods has beaten him before, but he's a former World champion so of course he can win, if he's focused. Castle said he doesn't know what's next after his match with Woods, other than he has a greenhouse at home that isn't going to build itself.

1. Josh Woods beat Dalton Castle in a Pure Rules match

- Backstage Quinn McKay interviewed Josh Woods on his win. Woods said he was disappointed, because there was too much brawling and fighting in the match, and he was in the Pure division to wrestle.

- Promo from Tracy Williams with The Foundation. Williams said Shane Taylor Promotions did the honorable thing when they refused to be handed the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship when MexiSquad couldn't compete at "Final Battle 2020", but they're also the same dishonorable people who jumped him from behind. Williams said if STP wants to prove they're championship material, face him and the ROH World Tag Team Champions Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham.

- Promo from Shane Taylor Promotions. Taylor said The Foundation says they want to bring change to ROH, but really they want to gentrify it with only the wrestlers and styles they like. The Foundation wishes they could be like STP, uncompromising and unapologetic.

2. Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Moses & Kaun) beat The Foundation (Jay Lethal, Jonathan Gresham & Tracy Williams) in a Six-Man Tag Team match. Finish saw Lethal go for a Lethal Injection Taylor, who caught him and hit Welcome to the Land.

I remember the HDNet shows being my first time watch an ROH "show" as before it was only what I could find on YT and wait long enough to watch (dial up and low DSL speed days!) and just being so happy to have that much access to them. I still remember seeing Kyle/Cole on their when they were basically nothing and thinking they were future stars (mainly Kyle if memory serves).

I know that era, or at least those shows, are the most well thought of period but I think their importance to ROH is greatly underestimated.

- 2016: ROH closed out the "Winter Warriors Tour 2016" in Duluth, GA. The show is best known for the final appearance of Bullet Club members AJ Styles (who was technically an ex-member), Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows. Gallows and Anderson would team that night with fellow Bullet Club members The Young Bucks to challenge ROH World Champion Jay Lethal, ROH World Television Champion Roderick Strong, and ROH World Tag Team Champions War Machine in an Eight-Man Tag Team match with all the titles on the line. Styles himself would just give a farewell speech, as the next night he was booked by another promotion for some minor battle royal match that nobody remembers him being in. Stevie Richards made another appearance, taking on Adam Cole. Both wrestlers had long brown hair and red trunks, so it was very easy to tell them apart. Frankie Kazarian tried to prove Jay Briscoe was a bitch in a Six Man Mayhem match. And Adam Page and BJ Whitmer continued the build towards their inevitable showdown.

- AJ Styles came out in front of his hometown crowd to thank the fans and Ring of Honor. Styles said he didn't know where he'd be without ROH, as he started with them before he was in TNA, and they welcomed him back with open arms after he left TNA. Styles said the fans have questions about what he's going to do next, and he's got the answers, but he before he could say he interrupted by ROH World Champion Jay Lethal. Lethal said nobody cares about Styles or what he's going to do, it's all about him because he's the greatest champion in wrestling. Lethal said he's supposed to defend the title against Matt Jackson tonight, but he's defended the belt in the UK, in Japan, so he'll be damned if he defends it in a god awful place like Duluth (it ain't even Atlanta). ROH World Television Champion Roderick Strong came out and said Lethal's wrong, Strong is actually the greatest champion in wrestling…but Lethal is right that Duluth sucks, so he too isn't defending his title tonight. Strong said Lethal was also right about nobody caring about what Styles is going to do next, because all that matters right now is Styles gets his ass out of their ring before they make him. Bullet Club came out, and Matt Jackson apologized to Styles (who bailed out of the ring) for BC laying him out in Tokyo, it was just business. Doc Gallows said Lethal doesn't want to defend his title, Strong doesn't want to defend his title, and he doesn't see ROH World Tag Team Champions War Machine out here but assumes they don't want to defend their titles either, because the champions in ROH are a bunch of p***ies. War Machine came out and grabbed the mic to speak, but instead just starting punching, leading to a brawl between the ROH champions and Bullet Club. Security ran out to break them up.

- P-Dog came out with The Get Along Gang and started rapping, but AJ Styles ran back out. Style apologized for interrupting but said he forgot something…and gave P-Dog a Styles clash.

2. The All-Night Express (Rhett Titus & Kenny King) beat Moose & Cheeseburger (w/Stokley Hathaway). Titus pinned Cheeseburger after a Royal Flush/Dropkick combo.

3. Cedric Alexander (w/Veda Scott) beat Mark Briscoe. Finish saw Mark hit a Fisherman Buster and go for a Froggy Bow, but Veda jumped up on the ring apron to distract him. The time allowed Alexander to recover and get his knees up when Mark went for the dive, then gave him a Lumbar Check for the win.

4. Alex Shelley, Matt Sydal & ACH beat Michael Elgin & reDRagon (Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish) in a Six-Man Tag Team match. Sydal pinned Elgin after a Sliced Bread #2 from Shelley, followed by a 450 from ACH, and finally a Shooting Star Press from Sydal.

- BJ Whitmer replaced Mr. Wrestling 3 on commentary. A fan in the front row had a stiff sign that said "Someone Please Hit BJ with My Sign!"

5. Jay Briscoe beat Adam Page, Caprice Coleman, Frankie Kazarian, Silas Young and Will Ferrara in a Six Man Mayhem match. At the start of the match, Kazarian told everyone to get out of the ring so he could prove Jay is a bitch. Jay pinned Ferrara after a J-Driller. Post match Jay grabbed the mic and asked Kazarian who's the bitch now, but Kazarian told that stupid hick son of a bitch he didn't get beat, Ferrara did. Jay started to put over Ferrara, but was interrupted by BJ Whitmer. Whitmer told Jay the problem with putting over young guys like Ferrara is it gives them a big head, and then they stab you in the back, just like Adam Page did to him. Whitmer said ROH was built by guys like him and the Briscoes, but now there's a problem in the locker room with young guys who don't know their place and don't respect the pecking order. Whitmer said they need to join forces to keep the young guys in line. Whitmer extended the hand, but Jay flipped him off, and Page jumped him from behind. Whitmer tried to bail, but Steve Corino ran out and threw him back into the ring for Page to give him a Rite of Passage. The fans started chanting "Use the sign", so Jay grabbed it and gave it to Page, who broke it over Whitmer's head.

6. Adam Cole beat Stevie Richards. Post match Richards offered the handshake, but Cole blew him off.

7. Jay Lethal (c) [World], Roderick Strong (c) [TV] & War Machine (Hanson & Rowe) (c) [Tag] (w/Taeler Hendrix) beat Bullet Club (Karl Anderson, Doc Gallows, Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) (w/Amber Gallows) in an Eight-Man Tag Team match to retain the ROH World Championship, ROH World Television Championship and ROH World Tag Team Championship. Rowe pinned Anderson after a Fallout. Post match AJ Styles came out for a final curtain call with Bullet Club.
- The stipulation was if any member of Bullet Club defeated Lethal or Strong, that person would win their singles title; if either member of War Machine was defeated, the one who pinned them and their regular tag partner would win the titles.

- 2015: ROH held a television taping in Philadelphia, PA leading up to the anniversary pay-per-view. Donovan Dijack won the 2015 Top Prospect Tournament, beating Will Ferrara in the finals. Adam Page wrestled his first main event for ROH, teaming with BJ Whitmer to challenge reDRagon for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. ODB wrestled her first match for ROH, teaming with The Briscoes to face The Kingdom and Maria Kanellis. Jay Briscoe also put in time on commentary, calling matches for the three men who would challenge him for the ROH World Championship at the "13th Anniversary": Hanson, Michael Elgin and Tommaso Ciampa. AJ Styles and The Young Bucks represented Bullet Club in a Six-Man Tag Team match against Matt Sydal, ACH and Cedric Alexander. And the mystery behind the Knights of the Rising Dawn continued in what in hindsight is an odd move, making their presence known in a match between The Addiction and The House of Truth.

- 2019: ROH began their push towards Madison Square Garden with "Road to G1 Supercard" in Dallas, TX. The show featured three opening round matches for Tag Wars 2019, with ROH World Champion Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham facing LifeBlood's Mark Haskins and Tracy Williams, Villain Enterprises' PCO and Brody King facing The Kingdoms' Vinny Marseglia and TK O'Ryan, and LifeBlood's Juice Robinson and David Finlay taking on the debuting Alex Coughlin and Karl Fredericks of New Japan's LA Dojo. Also making his debut from the LA Dojo was Clark Connors, who took on ROH World Television Champion Jeff Cobb in a Proving Ground match. Matt Taven defended the "Real ROH World Championship" against Rocky Romero, and perpetually grumpy wrestlers The Briscoes, Silas Young and Shane Taylor proved to be sore losers.

- ROH World Tag Team Champions reDRagon hosted a live edition of "The Fish Tank" with guests The Young Bucks, their upcoming challengers. Kyle O'Reilly asked the question on everyone's mind: what is it like for the Bucks to be standing in the ring with the greatest tag team in the history of wrestling? Bobby Fish, being the most qualified person in the ring, answered for the Bucks, saying it sucks to be them. O'Reilly then asked the follow up: what was it like flying their wives and children to Japan for "Wrestle Kingdom 9", only for their pathetic families to watch them lose to reDRagon? The Bucks answered O'Reilly's question with a pair of Superkicks, and tried to fight Fish, but security ran out to break them up. Two members of the Knights of the Rising Dawn were watching from the crowd.

3. Roderick Strong beat QT Marshall. The match lasted about a minute. Post match BJ Whitmer came out with Adam Page and asked if Strong winning in such a short match was supposed to send him a message. Strong said Whitmer's an old man looking for one last run, but Whitmer said Strong was on the road to irrelevancy until Whitmer brought him in The Decade. Strong said people are sick of listening to Whitmer talk and told him to get in the ring, but Whitmer said a fight between them isn't going to happen until he says so.



4. Six-Man Tag Team match: The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) & ODB vs. The Kingdom (Michael Bennett, Matt Taven & Maria Kanellis)

1. Tommaso Ciampa beat Jimmy Jacobs via referee's decision. The referee stopped the match when Jacobs was knocked out after Ciampa propped him up against a guardrail on the floor and repeatedly hit running knees to the face. Post match Ciampa got into a stare down with Jay Briscoe.

2. Hanson beat The Romantic Touch. Hanson extended the hand for the Code of Honor handshake, but Touch took a chocolate from a Valentine's box and put it in his hand instead. Hanson then hit a spinkick to the head, popped the chocolate in house mouth, and pinned him. Post match Hanson got into a stare down with Jay Briscoe.

3. Michael Elgin vs. Moose (w/Stokely Hathaway & Veda Scott) ended in a no contest. Members of the Knights of the Rising Dawn were in the crowd for the match. The match was stopped after Elgin shoved Jay Briscoe when he was knocked out of the ring; Elgin ran into the ring with Jay chasing him, then ducked out of the way when Moose went for spear, causing him to hit Jay instead. Elgin grabbed the ROH World Championship and posed over Jay, but Hanson ran out and fought him, followed by Ciampa running out to attack Jay. Mark ran out to make the save, but was speared by Moose.

4. Bullet Club (AJ Styles, Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) beat Matt Sydal, ACH & Cedric Alexander in a Six-Man Tag Team match. Finishing sequence saw Styles go for a Phenomenon DDT on Sydal, but instead of a DDT picked him up and suplexed him over to Matt and popped up Nick for an Indytaker, then picked him up for a Styles Clash, which came after the Bucks hit a final pair of Superkicks.

1. The House of Truth (Jay Lethal & J Diesel w/Truth Martini) beat The Addiction (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian). Finish saw Daniels hit a Uranage on Lethal as a setup for a Best Moonsault Ever, but a member of the Knights of the Rising Dawn jumped the guardrail and climbed up on the turnbuckle to distract him and allow Lethal to roll him up for the win.

2. Donovan Dijak beat Will Ferrara to win the 2015 Top Prospect Tournament. During the match Truth Martini, The Decade, Stokely Hathaway & Veda Scott, and Brutal Bob Evans all came out to watch. Post match Jimmy Jacobs, Hathaway & Scott, and Evans congratulated Dijak, while Martini thought about it then left.

3. reDRagon (Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish) (c) beat The Decade (BJ Whitmer & Adam Page) to retain the ROH World Tag Team Championship. O'Reilly made Page tap to a cross armbreaker. Post match Whitmer threw a cup of water at Steve Corino. Corino got into the ring, but ring crew ran in to stop him from fighting Whitmer. Corino started shoving them down to get a Whitmer, and didn't notice that one of the crew members was his son Colby. Whitmer told Colby he just saw for himself that what Whitmer said about his dad is true.

4. Dalton Castle & The Boys (Boy #1 & Boy #2) beat The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) & Shane Taylor by disqualification in a Six-Man Mayhem match. Taylor was disqualified for pulling the referee out of the ring to break up a pin. Post match the Briscoes and Taylor beat down Castle & The Boys until Juice Robinson and David Finlay ran out and chased them off. Robinson said fans didn't come to see matches end in DQ's, they want clean wrestling.

5. Madison Rayne beat Holidead (w/Thunder Rosa). Post match the Twisted Sisterz attacked Rayne until Sumie Sakai ran out and chased them off with a chair.

- Matt Taven came for his match against Rocky Romero, and said they've both held championships in ROH, NJPW and CMLL, but unlike Romero he's won a "World" Championship. Taven said since he's an honorable man, he's going to cut Romero a break and put his "Real ROH World Championship" on the line.

6. Matt Taven "(c)" beat Rocky Romero to retain the "Real ROH World Championship". Post match The Kingdom came out to attack Romero, but before they could Villain Enterprises came out.

7. Villain Enterprises (PCO & Brody King) beat The Kingdom (Vinny Marseglia & TK O'Ryan) to advance to the semifinals of Tag Wars 2019. O'Ryan was pinned after a Gonzo Bomb followed by a PCO-Sault.

8. Bandido beat Silas Young. Post match Young appeared to blow off the Code of Honor handshake, but came back and shook Bandido's hand, then kicked him square in the knee. Young headed to the back as officials came out to help Bandido.

- Vignette for Rush, starting full time in February.

9. Jay Lethal & Jonathan Gresham beat LifeBlood (Mark Haskins & Tracy Williams) to advance to the semifinals of Tag Wars 2019. Gresham pinned Williams after Lethal slingshot him into an Ace Crusher. Post match the Briscoes, Silas Young and Shane Taylor came out and attacked both teams. Juice Robinson and David Finaly tried to make the save, but got beat down as well, with Jay putting Robinson down with a J-Driller.
