Just a question.
Since he debuted on WWE's main roster, we've never seen a "big bad heel" version of dude. Closest we got was Bane Ambrose. Now with him in AEW, the best place for him and given who he is, when do you think we'll see it? For the past what, decade it seems we've been saying there will eventually be a time when he shows off himself as a big bad heel.
So when do you think it'll happen?
And yes, face Moxley is amazing. Don't get it confused.

I mean, it appears it was meant to be right now. With him winning the tournament and facing Hangman instead of Bryan. When will it happen now? It’s gonna be a while. He will return from rehab and fans (rightfully so) will refuse to boo him. I could see it being at the very least 6 - 8 months after he returns them trying to turn him again, but who knows really.

Presumably when he feuds with Hangman, because there’s no way he’d get cheered over Adam Page.

I think he was largely a heel on the indies before his big break with WWE. He can definitely play a convincing bad guy, but I don't see it happening anytime soon in AEW due to a combination of his overness, sympathy with his current irl situation and them already being pretty stacked heel wise.

He was about to be exactly that prior to needing to take time off. It will be hard to do it when he returns since he will probably get monster face pops but after a few weeks he could go back to the super violent heel he was about to become.

I was gonna say I don’t think they could get an AEW crowd to boo him….then I remembered that same crowd is booing the American Dragon (and I love that he STILL uses the face tunnel haha…) so I am very likely wrong.
Anyway, yeah…i’m 100% here for Destroyer of Worlds Mox that he unleashes after the Welcome Back Pop dissipates

I think that's the direction they were starting to pivot when he took out 10 with ULTRA VIOLENCE in the tournament. He was sort of a heel-leaning tweener when he started in AEW, but as the first big WWE name fresh off his run there, the fans were cheering him regardless. Now? With AEW established and several bigger names on the roster, I think he can get a crowd to boo him easily.

We got some hints of that in the Casino Ladder Match when fans were booing the f*** out of him every time he even stared at Hangman.

The more violent he gets, the more fans will cheer him. He could go heel doing something super meta like playing himself up as a sports entertainment guy, but it wouldn't last. He's a very difficult guy to get the audience to turn on.

It looked like it was leading to that before he went to rehab. Honestly, there's no way I can see anyone booing him.

All he gotta do is say it was better in WWE and that'll get him boos. Bryan used WWE as a weapon and it worked for him.

Still think he’ll come back to a huge ovation only to turn heel very quickly and pick up where he left off, which was looking great before everything went down.

Eventually, he'll likely go heel after his return. Obvious, not right away in the honeymoon period of his return, but eventually he'll run into the same problem he was having before leaving, and that is a lack of fresh opponents as a face, but lots of fresh meat as a heel.

He was def more heelish coming into AEW with the Omega feud and then once that was over, since he was a big name it was only right to lean him more face
I am interested in a high level proper heel run from him tho. My guess is it happens obviously once he is good to go full time and whenever Cody finishes (or starts) what he is doing with this character

I think this was the first hint of where his heel run was gonna go:
It's always gonna be a big what if to how the tournament finals would have gone had Moxley stayed and had Danielson's spot in the feud after (just speaking like narratively of course and not lamenting the fact that the dude went to rehab or anything ofc). I'd guess instead of the hour long draw it'd be a last man standing match, then a more hardcore stip for the rematch.

I dunno what it is but be it in WWE or AEW I've just never had any desire whatsoever to see Moxley as a heel. One of those guys who I'm perfectly fine with just being a career face.

I had no desire to see him as a heel in WWE because he was such a good face and I didn’t think WWE would book it right and low and behold I was right.
But I was ready for it in AEW because I trusted they could make it work. Of course the timing meant it wasn’t meant to be but hopefully they can revisit it in the future. I’m thinking by the end of 2022 maybe we might see heel Mox as we were supposed to.
