AEW has gotten lucky so far and not have any serious injuries. Can this be the wake up call they need to stop with the unnecessary risky spots, weapons and furniture in matches or st least save them for big events? Wishing Rey a fast recovery. The injury that Rey had could have happened on a regular chokeslam spot or a chokeslam off the top rope, it was just a freak thing. Not sure it was particularly unsafe. Did it really need to be on the outside to a table though?

Did it really need to be on the outside to a table though? No, but it could have easily happened in any scenario because of how it happened. Not in any way comparable, but I internally bruised my thumb and landed wrongly after doing a dropkick spot onto a crash mat. I basically couldn't use that hand for almost a week and blew up to a ridiculous size. And ironically, I was told nothing would happen because it was a crash mat. And it was also my own fault for letting my hand get crushed in that way. I get your point but the way it was bent, it could have easily happened in the ring from a normal spot too.

I didn't see the injury and I don't want to see the injury. I'm glad that Rey Fenix wasn't hurt as seriously as what people initially feared. Sounds like he was extremely lucky. Hopefully his recovery will go smoothly and he'll be back in action in a few weeks, as planned.

Luckily nothing was broke. The way it looked, it could have been way way worst. It was a freak accident spot. It was a chokeslam throw a table from the apron to the floor. A spot thats been done a bunch of times in wrestling. In the WWE by Take or Kane. He was trying to land flat but his arm just was in the wrong spot. It was a freak thing. So I'm guess if it was anything like Chris Jericho he be out 4 to 6 weeks. Only Chris tried working with it. Rey don't need to do anything but get back.

This is a side note, but this thread is the first time people regurally refering to Rey Fenix as "Rey" and not Fenix. He literally became the new Rey

Yeeeah, that match got so sketchy towards the end I already felt like something bad was gonna happen and then suddenly Luchasaurus almost gets stabbed by the edge of the table and Fenix's arm is doing the scariest shit you've ever seen. Like it's a freak accident but I also think it can and should be a big "what to avoid" example going forward.

Count me in with those who didn't notice it, and was focused on what the table did to Luchasaurus. Even on the replay, same thing.

Eddie Guerrero sustained a very similar injury on his first frog splash in WWE. Yeah, some stuff is riskier, but also, put me in the camp of "this could have happened in any match", especially since table spots aren't especially exotic.

I think the worst was the shot afterwards where you could see him trying to hold his forearm straight with his other arm and it was just flopping limpy in his own hand. That gave me flashbacks to Muniz vs Jacare.

I also didn't see the injury live or on the replay....
I only noticed when someone pointed it out on the live thread the image captured the AEW tweet with it in
I'm stunned he has no broken bones

Fenix cut a promo at AAA Rey de Reyes tonight! He's not cleared to wrestle yet, but he's out of his sling and moving his arms normally.

If indeed Buddy Matthews is debuting next week as part of House of Black, they are probably timing it so Rey Fenix can return at some point next month for a trios feud.

As nasty as the injury looked, so did Eddie's on his WWF debut, and he ended up being back withing a couple of months. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised Fenix expects to be back soon.
