With a shift in focus onto guys like Page and obvious focus on Bryan and Punk, does anyone feel like the Young Bucks feel kind of out of place in AEW?
They’re not “controversial” like Cody, they’re not love to hate like MJF, I can’t imagine they’ll ever be as loved as CM Punk..they’re just kind of there, and their bad comedy and even worse acting just take me out of the show, not even talking about their nonsense matches.
The inevitable Undisputed Era vs Young Bucks might reignite things, but it just seems like they could be gone tomorrow and wouldn’t be missed.
Just me?

Lucha Brothers match notwithstanding, I feel like FTR have exposed them for how fundamentally not-good they really are. The Bucks working with Sting and Allin would have been a total disaster. When they work their comedy anti-wrestling shtick for heat it can work in certain settings, but--and I may be projecting here--I wonder if their excessive self-referential insider-y elbow-you-in-the-ribs we're-doing-COMEDY! bullsh*t isn't wearing off on the fanbase.

You kinda HAVE to at a certain point to keep things fresh and give other people on the roster time to shine.
They were a huge focus since the beginning since they helped start the company, they had their big heel run with the titles where they were just beating everybody via cheating to the point people were sick of them and it was a big moment when the Lucha Bros beat them in the cage for the belt.
Since then they've fell into the background mostly, this upcoming angle with the Undisputed Era will probably be good television
Edit: Also as an avid BTE watcher, they're always going to be at least somewhat over with me.

I feel the exact opposite. They helped carry the company in 2021 and put on some of the best matches of the year. They also had great matches with some very green teams with the likes of the Acclaimed and the Varsity Blondes. And the Lucha Bros winning the titles was the loudest pop I heard all year live for a reason. Beating the Bucks meant something. Putting over Jungle Boy meant something. And they can still put on great matches at almost anytime with anyone. They still fit in and should be an integral part of AEW's 2022.

I get what you mean. Feels like they're a bit stale. They've been a weekly permanent feature since AEW started so a few months off would do them good. Have TUE kayfabe injure them and then have the Bucks and Kenny return for Double or nothing to a big pop and we get that Elite/TUE feud

I think it's a deliberate choice by them to slip into the background now that their title run is over and they've seen through the Omega run. They'll become a focal point again when Kenny returns is my best guess. I also think they're setting up Kenny and the Bucks vs. Cole and ReDragon the minute that Omega's ready to go.

The Bucks are a great tag team. You can argue they had tag team MOTY in 2020 (against Kenny and Hangman) and 2019 and 2021 against the Lucha Bros. They've also had great matches with Private Party, SCU, Mox/Kingston and Top flight and I'm sure I'm forgetting plenty.

They're a consistent ratings draw and one of the most over acts in the company.
So, uh...huh?

The Elite were dominant heel champions all over the product for most of last year, cycling them out of the spotlight for a bit after they've been triumphantly defeated by the good guys is pretty standard wrestling booking.

They may well be on the downslope if we can take the "sooner than you think" comments about Matt's retirement seriously. (But like, he's a pro wrestler. He's still been wrestling after that horrific neck injury he described getting in a Johnny Gargano match. I'll believe that he retires when I see it.)
Even so, I think their title run was just...the Most Maximum Concentrated Young Bucks possible. They had a lot of matches that were absolutely fantastic on a technical level, exhausting in pace and booking style, all while getting very good heat and finally losing in a bloody spectacle. It's hard to imagine that they'll ever top that, so by all rights they shouldn't try and should settle into a gradual slide downward in relevance. Their futures are as secure as anything is in wrestling, so it's probably for everyone's good if they let reDragon basically take their spot.

Nah I don't think so, they're just moving into a different slot in the card. Still over, still having great matches. Really they're just in a simmering period waiting for the Elite vs UE feud to kick off in full.

First off, lol @ at the idea of the Young Bucks not being popular, good, or not being missed if they left. That's just projection of "older fans boo John Cena so he isn't popular at all" proportions.
Secondly, Matt Jackson wants to wind it down and retire sooner than later (and he's dealing with COVID now, with Nick having to isolate due to exposure). Nick Jackson probably won't be much longer after that. After passing the torch to the Lucha Bros., they've taken a backseat to what they helped build for the last 3 years.

Yeah, the Bucks were involved in the consensus best match of the year in AEW last year, and are still one of the most over and talented acts in the company. I get that some wrestling "traditionalists" think they suck, but I don't think AEW is "moving on" from them any time soon.

I get that some wrestling "traditionalists" think they suck, but I don't think AEW is "moving on" from them any time soon. They've been in several MOTY candidates during their time in ROH, NJPW, and AEW. The Louisville narrative about them not being any good loses a lot of steam with that.

Man it always cracks me up when people say The Bucks aren't good, not a draw, not over etc. They prove all those people wrong on on consistent basis.
The Bucks have been the best and most consistent tag team in all of wrestling for years now.
They're just taking a bit of a back seat now while other teams rise up. And like op said, it'll be back on for them when it's time for the Undisputed feud because that is a money match they are sitting on

They’ve had almost all fantastic matches last year. Heck, I’ve yet to see a bad Young Bucks match at all in AEW. And this is coming from someone who never really followed them when they were the top tag team on the indies/ROH and NJPW. So, they’ve quickly jumped up in my all time favorite tag teams list.
As to answer your question. I doubt they are moving on from them. They could use a little rest and putting them in the background briefly will be good. But they are still the top tag team when it comes to fame, match quality, ratings and such. They won’t in be the main event scene like they were in 2021, but I’d imagine whenever Kenny Omega comes back, which is when I believe the anticipated Elite vs Cole/ReDragon feud will happen, then they will be back to prominence. But they deserve a little break from the spotlight.

I don't think AEW has moved on from the Bucks. Especially considering....well....they're EVPs.
I think it's more "We're letting other teams get a shine." It's a good way to build the Tag division, and bring fresh faces in.
I can't really berate them for being dorks, since I'm a bit of a dork myself. They still bring a chuckle here and there.

The Bucks have been a focal part of te main event for more than a year,of course anything they do now will feel like a "step down" but they need a time away from the spotlight.
They are still regarded as the likely best tag team in the world, no one has moved on,its just not their time right now
