Show hasn't even premiered yet and they're already changing showrunners and potentially airing the pilot out of order. Gee, I wonder if this is making it to season 2.

I'm ignoring every bit of news and just going into this as hopeful as possible. It's a great show for a revamp and I look forward in seeing what they do with it.

Do a parody version called Quantum Sheep. They can do a crossover episode with Time Cow.

Eh I really dunno
Based on the trailer just looks like any other show in terms of action etc and didn’t pick up much chemistry from the leads
I’ll still probably watch, might just be a case of it not coming through in trailer

I'm not sure I like the idea of making the Sam and Al analogues in this a couple. All it's gonna do is add pointless melodrama every time they do a romantic sub-plot for not-Sam. And you know they're gonna do it way more often then they should, it just feels like the kind of thing that writers aren't going to be able to resist.

Watched the pilot episode and enjoyed it. A little rough in some spots where they wanted to explain and re-explain to really try and grind home the pseudo-science to the viewer but the conceit of hopping into someone's body and making their life better still works.
Went in blind, so I was incredibly happy to see Ernie Hudson. Get that paycheck, man.
The set-up really did leave a ton of strings to pull on, so I'm interested in seeing where it goes. As usual, time travel stuff will be confounding if you focus too much on it, so I'm personally hopeful for a bunch of old-timey set pieces and nice ending stories.

Yeah this is gonna be a big thing over the whole series I bet which like you I think is gonna be way overdone. The other part I didn’t like was something else I thinks going to be a reoccurring annoyance and we’re going to spend way too much time in present day with its own threads as a reoccurring thing. Dollars to doughnuts we’ll get substories on the team too because that’s what people are really here to see Having gotten those two big gripes out of the way. The actor playing Ben was actually quite good. I mean he’s no Scott Bakula (swoon) but still he’s pretty good and the part of the story set in the past was alright too

So why doesn't Bakula want to be involved?

So why doesn't Bakula want to be involved? I'm not in his head, but Dean Stockwell's passing is still fresh, and he may have thought Sam's return should be a bigger deal than just throwing it away in a cameo at the start, plus that would really be all the viewers would talk about rather than invest in the new stars. I'd turn it down and hold out for a big time deal/event if the show proves to have legs and takes off too.

Ok, so I've finally caught up on the last two episodes. Some things -
1. If you're on a space shuttle in the 90's you don't play David Bowie. You play Aerosmith. That's just basic common sense.
2. Does anybody know what next Monday's episode is about (beyond Ben leaping into a woman)? That audio on the preview at the end of episode three was so muddied for me that I couldn't make out a word they said.
3. Crazy theory time, and I may be well behind the 8-ball on this - Janis is not Al's daughter with Beth. She's Al's daughter with Tina. Remember, in the original series, in the episode "M.I.A.", the "universe" or whatever really didn't want Sam to salvage Al's marriage with Beth. Maybe there was a legit reason for this? And, when at the end of the original series, Sam decided to fix their marriage anyways, it really screwed up the timeline somehow. Maybe Janis is some kind of Loki-style remnant from the old timeline that Al and Beth raised as their own? Maybe she's the result of an affair that Al still had with Tina in the new timeline as the "universe's" attempt to try to fix things on some level? But both Janis and Ben know that things aren't right and they're doing this to try to fix things.

He's going to wait and see if it gets a good run and if so, the writers come up with a good role for him to hop into.

So now that we’re at the mid-season break. What’s everyone’s thoughts?
I’m actually watching both kinda at the same time (I’m near end of season 2 of my rewatch) and yeah the loss of the Scott Bakula/Dean Stockwell dynamic is a big un. Also prefer the original for mostly focusing on the leaps rather than showing present time, it has a slightly goofier charm to it mostly. I’m not really bothered about the star crossed lovers with Addison and Raymond Lee just can’t compare to Scott Bakula (Swoon)
Now having said that. I am actually quite enjoying it. Raymond Lee may be no Scott Bakula but who could be and he seems enjoyable enough. Last weeks Halloween episode was great I thought where it was playing up the chance of something, possibly, perhaps being seriously paranormal. I do love seeing Ernie Hudson on my TV. Oh and the graphics are obviously a major upgrade but that’s an “obviously” one
So yeah. Enjoying it more than I thought I would

I’ve started Season 4 of the original and man the stuff I preferred is sticking out even more since I’ve been watching it more. The relationship between Sam/Al compared to Ben/Addison is just better
Like I watched Season 3 finale and Season 4 premier and those are just some great story telling (Apart from Al saving a person with mild Down’s syndrome from ending up on the streets just by a 2 min rap song on the alphabet lol)
Even if it’d just been a gender swapped version with a different dynamic (Though I’ve mentally cast Jennifer Coolidge as a updated Al)
But just stuff like seeing the present (or Sams present) in Season 4 premier I was like holy s*** because I had totally forgotten that and I had also forgotten Sam was married so now I’m going to be double bummed out at the season 5 finale

I'm still catching up on the show and despite a lot of timeline stuff that I feel like I'm overthinking, the overall feel of the show is just good. I feel good watching it and I'm more than happy to continue.
