And shockingly enough, none of the teams are thrown together! All of them make sense as tag team partners! I feel like with them moving in a new young direction, it'll probably be either the Creed Brothers (which I would be fine with) or Briggs and Jensen (who are my least favorite team in this tournament by a wide margin) winning it. I imagine the women's tournament won't fare as well when their teams are announced. I expect a lot of thrown together teams. Do we even know if the women's Dusty classic will be 8 teams? For all we know it could very well end up being just a 4-team tournament. Off the top of my head, here’s who I’ve got as the potential teams in this thing… Toxic Attraction Gonzalez/Jade Shirai/Ray Catanzaro/Carter Hartwell/Pirotta Feroz/Leon So there’s six already. Ray looks like being Rose’s next challenger, though, so Shirai might need a different partner if she wants in. And the reigning champions aren’t in the men’s tournament, it’s possible they won’t be in the women’s one. But, it’s like… This is a perfect opportunity to make some new teams with all the people they still have in that place, even if its just to lose in the first round. You only need another two or three or four to get to eight, so what’s the harm?

Pulling for the Creed Brothers even though it's likely going to be MSK as they've put a lot of time into them lately and they are currently feuding with Imperium.
As for the women's one, they'll definitely get eight teams somehow. They don't want to get any crap for not treating them equal. Same reason why they are still doing 30 for the women's Rumble this year despite being so short on roster members and having to make half the field by bringing in people who don't work there anymore including forgettable job girls from five to eight years ago like Summer Rae and Cameron.
It will be interesting to see what teams are in it. As far as official teams all they have is Gigi and Jacy, Indi and Persia, and Kacey and Kayden. Also it seems like it's basically a number one contender tournament for the tag titles with Imperium not being in the men's one which would mean Toxic Attraction are most likely not going to be in the women's one, so that drops it down to just two offical teams who are going to be in it. Raquel and Cora will probably be in it as a team. Io and KLR would be another possibility as they teamed a few weeks ago but KLR looks to be in the singles title program with Mandy which means that's probably another team won't be used. I do think there are some possible make shift teams that could interesting and fun as far as seeing how their characters interact. The already suggested Nile and Stratton team would be one. Another one I think would be good would be Dakota and Wendy Choo. A schizophrenic teaming with someone who has narcolepsy. Comedy gold right there.

As for Io, I think they might throw her in with Sarray if anything. Although I do think if Sarray is in it, she is probably going to be out in the first round. Hopefully leading to a heel turn against her partner.

In which case, the Women’s Dusty Classic will only be 4 teams. Which let’s be honest, isn’t much of a tournament.

Possible, but at the same time, we don't have a solid start time for the women's other than "sometime in February", and I assume there are going to be at least two matches per week for the men. I also think the women's tag tournament is going to be how they showcase some of the lesser known PC talent in low stress matches. I think they'll have the men main event one week for their finals, and the women for the other, especially since they are desperate to pop a rating. I would also add Lyons/Legend to the list of tag teams, since they seem to have the same attitude, even if Lash shouldn't be on TV at all right now (I imagine they would be knocked out real quick in the first round).

Meaning that they will have gone 4 to 4 1/2 months without a single title defense.

It doesn't help that they have like zero actual chemistry either. It's why I wouldn't be shocked if the Dusty Classic winners take the titles off of them. It's blatantly obvious that Jacy and Gigi are only there to be heaters for Mandy.

What's the over under on the total time of the women's tournament being more than 15 minutes? If it’s under, you may as well call it the Sapphire Cup Tag Team Tournament.

I thought she did pretty well in the Wargams match in particular. Also to me they have decent chemistry as a team. I wouldn't say they are the greatest team of all time or anything but they have some decent tandem offense like Gigi hurrricaning the opponent into the ropes so Jacy can boot her in the head. Also do you like seriously ever have anything good or complimentary to say about anyone not name Io Shirai, Asuka, or Sarry? It seems like every women's wrestler other then those three just completely sucks and has nothing going for them at all. Like I get having your favorites and I think Asuka and Io are both very good but it seems like any time anyone says anything good about someone else you butt in and say something negative about that wrestler. It's cool if you don't like someone and to point out flaws but when you are doing it for almost literally everyone it becomes a big buzzkill.

Going by that the finals are clearly going to be MSK against the Creed Brothers.

It's cool if you don't like someone and to point out flaws but when you are doing it for almost literally everyone it becomes a big buzzkill. It doesn't help that WWE is quickly reverting back to "look at all of these hot sexy women" in NXT, and putting the spotlight on talent who aren't ready, or taking time away from women who should get time. I complain a ton about the treatment of Sarray simply because she isn't being given a chance to actually develop a character and get over. Which I thought the point of NXT 2.0 was to be a developmental brand for people to...actually develop. But apparently women like her aren't allowed to be on TV where the only thing they really need to flesh out is a character and motivation. But then WWE has time for three different segments in a single show involving "look at how hot Toxic Attraction" is. And I'm critical of the spotlighted women on the main roster right now because its stale as hell, and a lot of the gimmicks either harm the person going up against said woman (see: Charlotte and Becky's gimmick of just outright clowning on everyone), or just isn't good at all (Nikki ASH, Queen Zelina, Carmella). This is why I'm critical of almost the entire main roster. And its why I think if things don't change within the next couple of years for WWE and their treatment of the women (ie: focusing less on borderline diva level characters and focusing more on the actual athletic part of it, along with shifting the 4HW down the card in favor of newer talents who have proven themselves), their position as the "best women's division" in the world is in serious jeopardy. Because outside of a select few talents on the main roster (Bianca, Rhea), and NXT (Io, Dakota, maybe Raquel), the future of women's wrestling in WWE is in a real bad spot. Especially if even a couple of those women decide to go elsewhere. Anyways, I digress. I think the Women's Dusty Classic will be a good indication of where a lot of these women stand. A lot will be in short matches. And I'm sure like 95% of the PC level teams will be knocked out in the first round. We'll see if anyone shines in it though. But leaving Io or Sarray off of the tournament seems like a really bad idea in general.

I'm totally not biased or anything, but I'm rooting for Enofe and Blade. I'd also be fine with Jacket Time or The Creed Brothers winning.

But leaving Io or Sarray off of the tournament seems like a really bad idea in general. I agree that the booking of the women is horrible mainly just with how stale it with the same five women always getting pushed every year. It's actually a big reason why I don't mind the Toxic Attraction mega push as much as you and a lot of others in that at least they are finally fully invested behind someone different. And even then it's only because they are on a show that doesn't have any of the established stars. Like when they get called up to the main roster I'm sure they'll get fed to Becky or Charlotte or Bianca and be nothing within a month. At least they are TRYING to make new stars. It doesn't hurt to try. What do you have to lose? If it works great and if doesn't then scrap it and try with someone else. Eventually you have to eleveate someone else though because nobody wants to watch the same people on top for a decade. Also as a red blooded male I don't mind the sexual appeal stuff. As long as it doesn't get to the point where it was like in the 2000's with bra and panty matches and mud matches and extremely trashy and demeaning stuff like that I think it's ok. Unless it gets to that point I'm not going to complain about Mandy Rose prancing around in a bikini for video packages. I'm not really high on Carmella, Nikki, and Zelina either but I think there's other women they could do a lot more. Doudrop, Liv, and Toni before she quit should be/should've been start of the new crop they start elevating. However they are/were just used as fodder for the usual suspects with one quitting and the other two not really having any hope of ever being anything. I know Doudrop has a title shot at the Rumble but everyone knows she has no hope in hell of winning and it's just to get Becky through another month because they don't have anyone else and they have to bide time until Bianca can win the Rumble again and they can go back to Bianca against Becky again. As for the Dusty Classic it wouldn't surprise me at all if Io and Sarray get together as a team for it. They love just throwing teams together simply for the fact that they are of the same race. I honestly think they would have a good chance of winning as they need a face team to challenge Toxic Attraction and I don't really know who else that could be. I don't think Kacy and Kayden are the answere and Indi and Persia are heels or at least I think they are and don't seem to be for long as a team as they've been teasing splitting them for a while now.

This is the worst thing about NXT becoming more like the main roster.

Not counting War Games, they have only had one match as tag champs, which was against two jobbers. And it wasn't a title match. Anyways, what are the odds one of the mens teams end up getting taken out by Harland and Gacy?

It would be really weird if MSK didn't win. Well the whole scenario is weird to begin with. They find Riddle and begin a feud with the tag champs and win the first match of the feud. But instead of getting a title shot, they now have to go on a month long side quest for some reason. It's odd, but they should still win it.
