Interesting hearing him talk about wrestling without the crowd; the way he's describing it reminds me of what worked best when ROH first got back on TV with no crowds and you really got an up close and personal look at how the matches were laid out, the minutiae of the ring psychology and physical storytelling, and the announcers could focus on the smallest details, etc. I have to think for some wrestlers there can be something really engaging about that; it also kind of matches the best of Japanese wrestling, when the crowds start out really quiet and attentive and the wrestlers use that to firmly establish their characters, motivations, strategies, etc. as a match begins. I'd love to see the return of Prince Devitt. The guy was the first leader of Bullet Club for a reason. He can be a great heel. "Captain Foo@#$%' New Japan?! Get the @#$% outta 'ere."

I think the first pandemic-era WWE match to capture that feeling was Rhea and Charlotte at WrestleMania. There was something about the lack of crowd, the technical work, and the silence that made it a really fresh, great match.

I saw someone raise a good point yesterday that I didn't even consider for some reason. How do you think he felt about what happened with Kross after how hard he worked to try to get him over? I think he may have come to realize that there is nobody left in the company that has his back nor will give him credence. There might be some precedence for Vince's distrust of veterans wanting to build up stars. Bret Hart absolutely made Tom Magee look like a million dollars in their match despite the fact that Magee couldn't wrestle his way out of a paper bag. Vince is probably once bitten, a hundred times shy over stuff like that. WWE is absolutely not the place for pushes to come from below - Vince either likes you or he doesn't, regardless of any guidance he may get from the locker room. Sure, Trips and Steph are all about the PR and how stars can help the brand, but Vince doesn't care. He likes what he likes.
