Watched it and I have to say.....this is probably the most generic and forgettable of Zack Snyder's films in that it is neither good nor awful.

My co-worker had it on at work last night, and you're absolutely right. It's a collection of scenes that might as well have been lifted out of a dozen other movies, and it feels like a movie that has had the guts ripped out of it. It's just dull. Not that I think the director's cut will solve many of the problems. It'll no doubt be more of the same, with additional cussing and gore.

haven't watched it yet and will probably wait until next week before I do, but have seen some spoilers for it including {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}is it true snyder killed off ray fisher's character in this First part?
the same ray fisher who has spent the last six years alternating between kissing zack snyder's arse and bitching about warner bros?

{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} Don't worry, he'll be rebuilt in the second part as a robot and be what he thought Cyborg should be.

Finally got a chance to check it out. Didn't hate it. Definitely not the worst Zack Snyder film... but it is perhaps the most forgettable one. It is a movie that doesn't fail very hard because it simply doesn't try very hard. I described it in the past as "Star Wars with blackjack and hookers", but at best, Rebel Moon is the CONCEPT of Star Wars with blackjack and hookers. It is a two and a half hour elevator pitch that would be a cool 110 minutes without slow-mo. The characters are mostly just stock tropes, the movie is mostly "I'm putting a team together" until the final battle, and an epilogue that establishes everything you've seen is just setting the bases for Part 2 (which, you might notice, is also the biggest problem with his cut of Justice League). The whole thing feels like someone adapted a long running television show that doesn't really get good until the second half of the first season, and then just adapted the whole first half to use the promise of the better second half as sequel bait.
If this truly was his pitch for Star Wars, I see why they turned it down. Though, honestly, apart from one droid whose in the movie ten whole minutes, one character with "lightsabers" that we see in the trailer, and one obligatory cantina scene featuring a homosexual sexual predator (yikes), the film honestly reminded me more of Jupiter Ascending. In fact, there's your Honest Trailer title: Stupider Ascending.

{Spoiler}Poor fella was in the movie like fifteen minutes, and got murked avenging his fallen comrades against a faceless gunship guy.
From the trailer, he will probably appear in Part 2, but I'm willing to bet it will only be as a flashback. Safe bet Devra Bloodaxe was left alive to become their Seventh Samurai, so to speak.

Already releasing the trailer for the next shows they've got no faith and want to get it over with Playing devil's advocate, they're more likely trying to capitalise on the hype of Part One while it's fresh in everyboy's mind. That and they've only got four months to promote it.

This is the worst movie I've seen in a long time. It's got absolutely no character development, not a single original idea to its name, the writing is shockingly bad and worst of all? It's boring. So you can't even enjoy how bad it is.
Also, Snyder made a big mistake by taking over as DP. A big thing about Snyder's flicks, good or bad, they were shot beautifully but now it's clear as day that was all the previous DP's work. Larry Fong is why Zack's movies looked so good in the past. This looks horrendous.

so... I gotta ask: was Snyder able to make this movie without using any rape during its runtime?

So, I watched it this morning since I don't have to go back to work until Friday. I will say that it wasn't the worst sci-fi movie I have ever seen. Definitely not best just OK. It's hard not to see how much this took from Star Wars. I don't really care about Zack Snyder having only seen some of his earlier work. Never watched Justice League or Army of the Dead.

is that taking into account the eleventy billion people who streamed it in China? Evidently not, as it's one of Netflix's worst-performing 2023 Originals. Even Army of the Dead and Army of Thieves outperformed it. Either Netflix fell into the trap of believing Snyder's fanbase is bigger than it is, or having Snyder spend six months undermining the initial release by talking about the director's cut every chance he gets wasn't the best idea.

Anyone dedicated enough to Snyder to care about his proclaimations is likely dedicated enough to watch both versions. I can't imagine there being millions of people holding off for a longer, drearier version of Star Wars with scowls. I think Netflix morbius'd themselves into thinking something being talked about a lot online had some big untapped audience. WB have the man everything he wanted and it didn't pay off, why did they expect different results?

Huh. Apparently Netflix Philippines has a special trailer for it.
Kokey was a Filipino sci-fi film about an ET-like alien.
