Can’t wait to watch those space crops blowing in the wind in slow motion while a morose version of The Farmer in the Dell plays. Then he’ll needle drop She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy when a good guy plows into a group of bad guys. we all know he'll shove Hallelujah in there somewhere >_>

Honestly, there's not a lot of hype for the most part. Even the noisiest and most obnoxious of them have pretty much just stuck to retweeting articles. One or two have ventured so far as to say it will be a Star Wars killer, but that's about it. Yeah most Cultists seem to still be stuck with he should be doing DC ignoring that he's working on other stuff or even has had like Army of the Dead come out since his work at DC... I have seen a few of the really rabid ones call it a star wars killer... which is ... just laughable. Even if it does well it's not going to make a dent in Star Wars. Especially with how Andor has given Star Wars a lot of lost momentum back after Book of Boba.

I'll subscribe to Netflix for one month if he has an action scene backed by a butt rock cover of this: Kinda like this, but with a budget: never expected to see the wurzel's brought up on here.

I'll ask this again but alter it to "How long before it's pulled by netflix for plagerisim lawsuits and copyright infringement lawsuits?" I doubt this film will last long before it's removed There have been countless Star Wars rip offs, inspired by, etc. Yes this is a case where it was explicitly developed as a Star Wars project but I am sure Netflixs lawyers are on top of things making sure it passes muster. And the Kurosawa thing is so old at this point no one could sue over that. given his past I can see Zack ignoring any advice from higher ups and doing whatever he wants. someone probably owns the rights to the Kurosawa's films so it's possible it could cause issues legally depending on how hard he goes on doing a homage. that said, Tarantino has made a career out of large parts of his films being homages to other films with little legal repercussions.

From what I could find doing some cursory Googling on it Seven Samurai is in the public domain in Japan and it was in the public domain in the US but isn't anymore. Copyright is f***ed up.

I figure if Disney had any claim to the script he's using for this, it wouldn't be made. Given the way he behaved with WB properties, I fully expect his pitch for Star Wars was barely fleshed out and entirely unsolicited so they have no claims of ownership.

I would bet any meeting with someone who read a Zach Snyder script ended with it being handed back by a hand holding it in disdain and the words “you can keep that”

Copyright is f***ed up. didn't it get re-released on dvd/bluray/4k bluray so that could be the reason for it being back under a copyright/ownership Nothing to do with that and everything to do with just Japanese copyright laws vs American copyright laws, and how and and when copyright terms were extended. Though I can't confirm Seven Samurai actually is in the public domain in Japan. I think Japan extended their copyright terms and Seven Samurai might still be copyrighted under that extension, but pre-1953 films like Rashomon and Ikiru may not be. I think it depends on how the extension of the copyright terms applied to films that had already lapsed into the public domain.
EDIT: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_law_of_JapanSince Kurosawa died in 1998, I think we are looking at 2036 in Japan. For America, the rights would have been restored under en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uruguay_Round_Agreements_Act , and I assume would expire 95 years after the publication, so 2049

is it just me, or does Daniel Craig look like he's questioning Netflix's decision to let Zack Snyder make two movies at once?

Would be awesome if I got to make my own goofy ass Star Wars style universe and turn it into different movies.

So one of them is the studio mandated one that an editor was allowed to work on and the other will be the bloated six hour meandering chore version.

Oh boy, another studio willing to cater to the whims of a director hot off a string of critical and commercial failures, giving him treatment actual award winning auteurs wouldn't receive.
