You couldn't pay me a million to take a WWE writer's job but if he's happy with doing it, who am I to judge him? Now, all the stories from actual former writers can make me judge the system he's entering which only makes me say "Good luck". Nah, you'd take a million bucks. I would take it, but I'm certain before the week was out I'd tell Vince he's more of a dinosaur than that skull on his wall & I'd be gone.

Ok, when I said I wouldn’t do it for a million, I’d also say that expecting if i didn’t last a month, I wouldn’t get the million.
But then I also wouldn’t do it if that wasn’t the condition so…

I kinda wonder if he partly did it to keep his work visa or whatever valid also. Even being married isn't a guarantee you'll easily get citizenship

Drake Maverick wrote the following on his linkedin.com profile… “I am pleased to announce that towards the end of 2021 – I accepted the wonderful offer of becoming a part of the WWE Creative Writing Team as a Writer / Producer. Some of my last appearances in ring for WWE fittingly happened in the United Kingdom. The last appearance of that tour was in my hometown of Birmingham, UK where it all started. My parents had seen me perform many times at arena shows but never for the WWE. I finally was at peace with what I had accomplished in life & said to them both at the hotel with tears rolling down & my face beaming with pride ‘Mom, Dad – I did it’ My final appearance in the ring was in Louisville KY which was my first home in the United States when I moved to the country in 2013 – This writes itself doesn’t it? After a fun & entertaining match with involving a cavalcade of stars, we returned to the gorilla position to smiling faces & a rounds of applause. That UK tour ending with that night in Louisville KY was the most rewarding week of my career. If you told me there & then that was the end – I was good with it. I now have the opportunity to expand my horizons even further in the industry I love as well as many other avenues including film & television. After a career beginning in 2001 as an in-ring performer, I have personally exceeded all of my personal expectations from a geographical & physical standpoint in a line of work somebody like myself should have never succeeded in. Needless to say, all thanks to the people I have had the pleasure of being around on the journey & this industry as a whole – I am in a blessed position in life. It owes me nothing yet I owe it everything. Thanks for reading – James.” I love how the dude seems so happy and at peace and some internet people are like “YOURE JUST A GLOTTON FOR PUNISHMENTTHEY FIRED YOU TWICE LOL. WHATUTHINKING” The worst part of the internet is that it empowers people to talk to others in wild ways they’d never do in person.

But then I also wouldn’t do it if that wasn’t the condition so… Right, ok, I've clearly put waaaaay too much time into this, but... If you were offered a million to become a WWE writer, but you weren't allowed to quit or get fired for a whole month, would you? Initially I thought 'hell no'. I've heard the horror stories, I know they've made people uproot their whole lives only to can them immediately. My mental health, my family's wellbeing, is worth more than that. But then I thought... what if I take the job but just never show up? Surely they've got so many writers, & the old man is too busy/distracted/senile to notice? Bit of a risk, but worth a go. And then I thought 'what if I don't show up... AND legally change my name to Vincent Kennedy McMahon?' That way, if they try & investigate the books they'll just see Vince's name, & assume it's part of some money laundering scheme to give himself two jobs. OR, they could catch on to my plan & accidentally fire the wrong Vince, inadvertently making the product better. It's win-win! .....hmm? What? Oh yeah... Drake Maverick will be fine.

Maverick is like the pro-wrestling equivalent of those people trapped in an abusive relationship but is always going. "I can't leave him' I depend on him too much."
