It seems they're building to a semi-final match between Shingo and Ospreay.

The difference between the way Okada treated Desperado and Wato is stunning.
Okada actually had to try against Despy, whereas he treated Wato worse than he treated Kaito at Yokohama. Including a one handed pin which made me think "Are we sure Kazuyuki Fujita didn't transfer his essence into Okada there?"

Including a one handed pin which made me think "Are we sure Kazuyuki Fujita didn't transfer his essence into Okada there?" Even against Despy, Okada was quite cheeky, trying for his big moves early and finish it ASAP, thinking he would be easy pickings. In fact, it isn't until Desperado makes that foot pin + Rainmaker pose mock that Okada starts revving up and taking things as seriously as he should. It's part of the story of the match, and I loved it.

The early round shocks in the New Japan Cup this year seems to be that there are no shocks in the early rounds of the New Japan Cup this year. If the right side of the bracket holds like the left then we will be left with a ridiculously stacked final 16.

It seems everyone voted for and believes Sabre will win tomorrow which lead to the friction right now in Suzukigun.
Taichi is wondering if it means Douki is leaving the group

Despy is a challenge but Wato really shouldn't be. Its like a main eventer taking on a lower midcarder. Plus dickhead Okada is the best Okada. Obviously Despy was the better match but I loved the story the wato story told.

Well, Yano was eliminated in the first round, so no spoiler in this tournament ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

I guess that's part of the fun of top NJPW faces, that even their hubris comes back to get them sometimes, like how Tanahashi's dismissive attitude towards some opponents he has disdain for the tactics of sometimes blows up in his face.

Given what's happened, I am starting to lean to Douki upsetting Sabre
