Sky mentioned that he will only carry one belt moving forward.

Sky mentioned that he will only carry one belt moving forward. He’s already a better TNT champion than Sammy was for that alone.

Am I just too much of a 90's AJPW nerd to get why so many people don't like the two-belt thing?

...there was not actually a need for a kayfabe explanation for this, but I appreciate that it was provided! If he loses to Wardlow, he should pull out the spare and carry that around pretending like he doesn't know why people are saying he's no longer the champion

If he doesn't lose next week, it could be fun to see him defend it against Daniels in a short feud given their history.

I am hoping he shocks the world and defends successfully against Wardlow. Everyone has him pegged to lose, so it would be amazing if he pulls off the victory.

I'm expecting Sky to retain. You've got a built in title feud between Sammy and Sky along with Tay and Paige (and maybe getting Ethan Page and someone else involved) while Wardlow vs MJF doesn't need a belt.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we get some sort of SCU reunion when AEW finally hits California after DoN, especially if Scorpio indeed splits off of American Top Team and turns face. They could even use a bit of a loophole and say that SCU was forced to disband as a tag team, but can still operate as a trio. Then they go their separate ways once AEW is out of SoCal.

I just like that TNT's Twitter, like the Twitter for the whole network, always reflects who the TNT Champion is in their bio. That's cool.

Yeah, it can honestly go either way, since I could see Sammy costing him by jumping Ethan at ringside and Scorpio getting distracted.

Yeah, I think MJF screws him out of the match to prove a point to him since Wardlow implied he'd get a new contract if he won and, well, MJF still wants to keep his bodyguard.

I was thinking Wardlow should win, MJF could come out and demand the belt as per the stipulation in Wardlow’s contract. Leading to a title/freedom match between MJF and Wardog. As for Sky, him losing give Men of the Year & Dan Lambert something else to bitch about (Sky wasn’t ready as he was tired/injured/up all night playing Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero) which would then lead to them interfering in matches and building towards matches with Sammy, Tay and I dunno, Fuego?

Now that he's a former champion, can we look back on his reign?
It's very safe to say that Scorpio likely will be established as the worst TNT Champion for now unless he gets another reign with meat on it, but even so, this was a nothing period with the belt.
