As deserving as any major HOF induction for what that man did for his son.

Excellent choice. No ifs, ands or buts.

Or make a new award and name it after Shad, and make the Warrior award what it was supposed to be, an award for the unsung heroes of the company. Dana warrior wouldn’t want to share the spotlight so that won’t happen.

Now name the award after him.

Absolutely the right move, Shad should be honored for what he did, he saved his son, he's an absolute hero.
Please let JTG speak at this, they were close IRL and I think he deserves to honor his friend as well.

Awesome. His family especially his son deserves to see his father get recognized & honored for his heroic action. People want the Award renamed after Shad because of Warrior's past. To me, it's just a name. It should be about the people that are receiving the award.

This was my immediate thought when I thought about this year's award. He deserves to be recognized.

It makes me happy to see him get recognized. The man was a true hero.

After sleeping on it, I changed my mind. I think they should re-name the Warrior Award after Shad. Warrior wanted an Award for the WWE Employees that work behind the scenes & they have yet to give anyone like that this award. The people that have won the Warrior Award are heroes like Shad was. So, if they still want the Warrior Award to make Dana Warrior happy than change it. Heroes like Shad shouldn't get an Award named after homophobic bigots.

It's just so hard hearing Michael Cole go "he showed as much courage as the Ultimate Warrior did" once you've learned about who Jim Hellwig really was.

They actually did give a couple of behind-the-scenes people the award. They've just been incredibly inconsistent in how they define it.

They should name the award after him and make that the award to honor those for courage like Shad or the Make a Wish fans. The Warrior award should be for something else as one lets face I loved the guy and he was my first favorite wrestler but he wasn't exactly the greatest guy in the world and secondly during Warrior's HOF speech when he was suggesting it, what they've used it for isn't what he was asking. He wanted it be for basically the "unsung heroes" of the company. The guys who drive the ring truck and set up the ring and do a lot of the behind the scenes work that goes unknown and unpraised.
So basically I think there should be two different awards. Shad Ghaspard Award to honor those for courage and being a great person and The Warrior Award to honor the unsung heroes and give them the credit they deserve.

The Jimmy Miranda award presented by Dana Warrior to the family of Shad Gaspard.
That definitely sound better.

just random thing on the Jimmy Miranda stuff... I didn't realize that they actually did an on air Tribute to him in 2002.

If I were in charge of renaming it, I’d name it the Titus O’Neal Award because he’s the guy who embodies the spirit of what WWE thinks the Warrior award means but if it was the Gaspard or Miranda award, I wouldn’t complain either.

It should be the Gaspard Award from this point on. I wouldn’t be opposed to that. But didn’t Warrior set it up, or least started the idea in his HoF speech? EDIT: Correction - Warrior wanted it to celebrate those in the business who make it possible behind the scenes snd don’t get recognized publicly.
