Saw a kid walking to school in a Favre Atlanta Falcons jersey. Got me thinking who would really want that

A Kevin Youkilis Yankees jersey would fit that description. A major fan-favorite by Red Sox fans, later signed a nice FA contract with the Yankees, He didn't do much while in pinstripes, although injuries played a part in that.

I never get folks with the Jordan/Wizards jersey. It was a meh two years and the jersey design itself was very early 2000s and hasn't aged well.

Eh, I at least partly get where that'd come from for a certain era of fan: Willie "came home" to New York in '72, and while he certainly wasn't anywhere near his prime anymore it was a very emotional thing for fans of a certain vintage. Plus, he got to play in the '73 World Series with the Mets against Oakland. The Mets even invited him for the closing ceremonies for Shea Stadium in 2008 thanks to that connection. That said, yeah, if you're not from that era of fan I think getting a throwback NY Giants jersey would be much sweeter. I absolutely sprung for a couple needless throwbacks last year, went through a jersey maker who charges something like $90 a pop and got retros for the previous incarnations of the New Jersey Devils before they moved east in '82: the Kansas City Scouts and the Colorado Rockies, home whites and away blues for each. It was easy to pick who I wanted numbers for on the Rockies jerseys: I got Chico Resch's 1 on one of them, since Chico is basically our fanbase's batshit crazy great-uncle, and Lanny McDonald for the blue one, since...well, c'mon, it's Lanny McDonald. It was much harder to figure out names for the Scouts jerseys; I spent way too much time on hockey reference database to look at the stats and leadership positions for a team that basically existed for two years.

I saw a Steelers "Ron Mexico" jersey in the wild at an Iowa Football game and it got me so confused I had to use google to figure it out.
I had completely forgotten Vick played for the Steelers.

I would gladly wear a Joe Montana Chiefs jersey before ever wearing anything 49ers related.
So I guess it just comes down to team loyalty.

Not a jersey, but I just bought a t-shirt repping the old Negro League team the Newark Eagles. Hmm, there are jerseys out there...Ebbets.com has them at $215 (eeeh, no), but Royal Retros, who I got those throwback Scouts and Rockies hockey jerseys from, does them for $85. No clue what kind of differences that involves, I'm sure I could read up on the websites to find out, but hey, if I had the money to burn it'd be fun. www.royalretros.com/products/newark-eagles-jersey

I choose to believe that all Ray Bourque Avalanche jerseys have since been burnt I wish. But the NHL keeps bring it up every playoffs so I see the appeal.

Mentioned this before, but the "shirt-sy" era where I saw a guy at work with a powder-blue Atlanta Braves road jersey with the #3.
I thought "Nice. A Dale Murphy."
(No. Said "Ruth" on the back. WTF?!)

Patrick Ewing Orlando Magic jersey. At least the Sonics one has some kitsch value from being of a team that no longer exists.
