Think this could largely be extrapolated to the wedding industry as a whole. Yeah, that’s a valid point. My wedding supper and hall rental cost around $12,000. I had an outdoor wedding, cost me $0 but the f***ing supper and dance was obscene. My friend did it best, he showed up at my house one Friday night, we had a couple beers and he said “oh, by the way, you’re coming with me and the old lady to Winnipeg tomorrow so you can be my best man/witness” and got married in his now wife’s friends living room with 2 witnesses and a Justice of the peace At 36 with no marriages under my belt I may never tie the knot, but if I did I’m quite certain the girl id be with would be fine with heading to the JOTP to sign the paperwork and then renting a bar afterward.

Soon to be 36, one divorce under my belt, in the unlikely situation I ever tied the knot again it would absolutely be court house wedding. Maybe have some sort of gathering after, but might not even tell people I’m married til months later like my buddy did. His plan was to have a big social and announce that they were already married, but then COVID happened. His parents didn’t even know til a couple months later, there were like 7 people who knew they got married before the kid was born EDIT: His sister was actually giving me shit about that last night, she has not forgiven him for getting married him secret and it’s been 2.5 years

There's synthetic diamonds that are like, actually diamonds (as in they have the same exact chemical and physical makeup as natural diamonds) but not mined with human suffering. And are also a bit cheaper since they're created in a lab. Won't you think of Zales... and their profit margins?! They did studies funded by their diamond industry that synthetic diamonds are stupid and bad... >_>

Lab grown diamonds are of a higher quality and cost much less Lab-grown gemstones in general are of a higher quality and cost much less than their mined counterparts.

Also, the woman who came up with the “3 months salary” bullshit for engagement rings is pure evil Ha! Yeah it was definitely a woman getting a ring who made that up, not the men selling rings at all...

Glass She won't know the difference Until she tries to cut glass with her diamond in her museum cat burglar jbo Or when she has to pawn her engagement ring to save Christmas after your boss cruelly denies you your holiday bonus.

Yeah it was definitely a woman getting a ring who made that up, not the men selling rings at all... It was an attempt at a light hearted joke. It clearly failed miserably as you’re the second person to call me out on it. Apologies to everyone. I’ve cancelled my standup appearance for next weekend. (Also a light hearted joke. I have crippling anxiety, I’d never do standup)

The Pastor was a buddy, who got paid in beer. Only cost was renting a nice suit for me. Second wedding was small. But still cost way too much. My current GF and I agreed a long time ago to just say F a wedding. We had aa small ceremony a few years back. Just a day where we had family and some close friends there. Plus gave her an excuse to wear a nice dress. And our "wedding rings" well mine is a stainless steel green lantern ring and her's is a stainless steel TMNT themed ring.
