Right now the plan is keep grinding at my day job, buy a house in Massachusetts (where property value is ridiculously expensive), and eventually make enough with my small business to be self employed and quit my day job.
Yet, as inflation increases and property values get more outlandish I have to admit I daydream about doing something completely different.
Like moving some place where the cost of living is ridiculously low and run some super smalltime business like tyrant. I don’t think I’m enough of a bastard to pull it off though.

Come to Louisiana. Very cheap compared to Massachusetts. And very "business friendly". Meaning you can treat your employees like garbage and get away with most anything else.

A new life, under the sea. That’s your solution to everything. To move under the sea. It's not going to happen!

I don’t think there’s a tonne of places in Canada with a lower cost of living then where I live. I own a house free and clear due to a brilliantly timed real estate move in my early 20’s, bought it for $90k, it’s about 800 sq ft with a 300 sq ft shop/man cave. My contingency plan is basically this, if I were in a pinch I could survive and live comfortably on minimum wage. And it’s on a big ass corner double lot, so I have plenty of yard.
And I don’t have a career, I’m a gig worker. I basically hop around seasonal jobs, make enough to live comfortably, and this house is why I’m able to do that without stress. Eventually I wanna save up, start a small scale landscaping business and buy my parents acreage when they choose to sell but that could be 15-20 years from now.
Backup plan is sell the house, and most of my shit, move to Calgary with my sister and establish myself there but I don’t know how I’d handle big city life. I’ve never lived in a city bigger then 45,000, usually lived in 2000-3000 sized cities, currently live in a town of 400 people.

Hell no. I'm winging this shit. I can't predict the future. There could be a robot uprising tomorrow. There could be a worse than ever surge of Covid that kills most of us. I could just straight up die in my sleep tonight or sonething. Life is what happens while you're busy making plans.

Constantly.
Pessimism is my plan for always coming out ahead. Expect the worst and plan for it, and you likely won’t be disappointed.
Hope is a bad plan.

Like you could die in your sleep tonight only to rise up as a Covid surging robot.

I've been heavy into the stock market last few months. Wish I'd known about monthly dividend REITs and ETFs a decade ago.
Plan is to pump all spare income into something like QYLD and hopefully in five years, it pays some of the bills via passive income and eases the financial burden.

Despite being a meticulous, borderline obsessive planner, over the past few years life has bowled me quite a few googlies and at present I'm blagging my way through.
I've got to be honest though, I don't really like it that way, I find uncertainty a difficult thing to cope with and it's endlessly frustrating when you plan something only for the whole thing not to come off.

The way I look at it is that everything is uncertain anyway. You make plans, you still don't know what will work out. You don't make plans, and the same thing happens but you don't have the added stress of your plans not working out.

I’m in kind of a crappy spot with a lot of my plans after health issues left me needing regular medical checkups and three medications. I would like to really try and get a different job that I don’t hate so much but it’s hard to get as good of health coverage as I have right now.
