Coming off that amazing run in 2006 after returning from injury in 2007, he didn't last long.
I've heard multiple theories from being pissed he did the job again to HHH at Summerslam 2007 to the signature pharmacy fiasco to him being fed up in WWE period. I remember that this time stories also surfaced that he was "difficult to work with" backstage.
It seemed like such a downfall to go to TNA by November of that year. Did WWE make him a scapegoat or did he simply just give up?

I think he just wanted a lighter schedule and pretty much phoned it in in TNA.

His career was winding down and I think he didn't like going from being the top booked heel on SD to jobbing to Triple H in basically a squash match at Summerslam

TNA was giving folks cash for less travel and he hitched himself to that ride

Booker claimed that he was not part of the testing or whatever was that lead to a ton of suspensions back then so he requested his release

At the time I read he had started up his wrestling school and wanted to be the new developmental territory. He invested a lot of money for cameras and other equipment. Instead WWE went with florida, who didnt even have bathrooms in their building if I recall correctly.

He wanted to get paid for contributing next to nothing to the product, and there's only one place to fulfil that dream in 2007 if you're an ex-WWE guy, and that's TNA

I remember reading about the school thing. Didn't he fail wellness around the same time?

From what i've heard he was suspended in 2007 for his role in the signature pharmacy scandal. He ended up getting suspended for 2 months meaning it was his second offence. He also allegedly wasn't happy that Randy Orton was also on the list and got a pass although i remember reading that Orton had already been suspended for offense earlier on. Whether or not the WWE did that so they wouldn't have to fire Randy or even if that statement is true i don't know.
I've also heard that Booker wanted to become a movie star and thought working at Universal Studios and doing a lot of different accents was him trying to show his range.

It was probably a lot of issues that alone wouldn't do it, but the suspension was a tipping point and he decided to make the leap. I wasn't really into his TNA run, but I don't know that I'd call it a bad career move on his part since it's not like he wasn't already winding down in WWE before he left.

I wonder if he'd made the jump if Christian and Kurt Angle hadn't done so well there.

That is the story we got told by Booker and one of his head trainers in ROW,hell was it 7 years ago now??. Makes sense PWA and now ROW are top level indies in production. And with all the great indie talent in TX I'm surprised WWE hasn't worked with ROW more.

And ROW has so much good talent. Hyan,Alex Gracia,Gino Medina,Will Allday and Cam Cole to name a few. Really surprised ROW doesn't get more talk online. It is on FITE and Youtube. Most weeks it is a fun hour of wrestling.

It's fascinating given how the view counts on ROW are through the roof, and Booker's students have the fundamentals and the TV training that the big leagues prize...but there just isn't more presence in the industry. I can see how the TV is a bit WWE for most indy fans' tastes, but it feels like promoters should be vying for the wrestlers more. I also wonder who all the shows are reaching if it's so under the radar of the hardcores. Just Texans? International audiences?
