Whoever thought putting a 73 year old in a 27 minute match was a good idea should never work again. Even if a lot of that time was stalling, Flair took on way too much of that.

It seemed like the plan was for a superplex and they abandoned it for a regular one. Flair was basically checked out after even that. Thankfully they nixed that one, that could have killed him Yeah, I didn’t make the connection live but the suplex is what made Flair basically a sack of potatoes for the rest of the match. He was with all the spots to that point, but then he was just gone after that.

Hopefully the idea was that it was grueling enough that he will never want to do this again, but it feels like wishful thinking.

I have a sinking feeling that nothing short of Charlotte, Andrade, David, and everyone else close to Ric having essentially an intervention will really stop him, and even that may not work.

So, was the match any good? The first 5-10 minutes were what you would expect, but then Flair gassed and it got very scary. A few moments where you thought he was going to die on the apron. Just walked into the ring on autopilot for a hot tag at one point. Andrade had to literally lift him up to get him to the finish. He looked better in the training videos and they just asked way, way too much of a 73 year old. It was just shy of half an hour.

So, was the match any good? Ric was fine for the first 10 mins or so. Chops over huge. Did some strutting, threw punches, and slapped on the figure four. The crowd erupted. But then it was broken up and the match kept going. At some point Flair either got knocked silly or was completely spent. He was laying on the ground having a hard time getting up. He entered the ring way before Andrade could make the hot tag, seemingly just coasting on auto pilot. Had trouble getting up. It was concerning, yet everyone in the match kept cool. As did his family. Eventually Ric was helped to his feet by Andrade, hit Double J with brass knicks, and another figure four. The finish was Jarrett’s shoulders being counted to the ground but Ric didn’t have enough energy to get either of his up too. Jarrett was probably the highlight of the match. He looked great. Did all the old territorial heel tricks to make the crowd crazy. It was hard to watch. I really cannot for the life of me understand who thought going nearly 27 minutes. Flair even said in his post match promo “I don’t remember half of it.” It wasn’t great, and I understand all negative reaction, but this was always about Ric. And at least he seemed happy.

So, was the match any good? For a while it was. Flair couldn’t do much, but he still had the personality and facial expressions. He was selling and did a fake clutching the chest thing, but it was the exaggerated Flair screaming “oh god” stuff. And then he became a sack of potatoes for the rest of the match and hardly ever moved. Then it was just scary. What kind of disturbed me is that we’re all watching Flair just be flat out unmoving or not able to get up for several minutes, and they’re just all out there doing spots and not checking on him.

If he's serious about being done, then sure, I guess I get the length, leaving it all in the ring and knowing the majority of the people there were there specifically for this match. Fine.
If he's just being his usual self and tries to do this again, then he's an imbecile.
I am sort of curious if Conrad will want to do this again or not. Obviously, even if Flair doesn't stay retired, I don't think you can milk this exact same premise, but I guess he can try it with someone else to stay retired. Feel like the list of candidates for that is shrinking, though, given there's no way in hell Terry and Dory are able to do it. I don't know if Foley is willing to risk it. Keiji Mutoh already has his own plan for his retirement tour and doesn't need Conrad for that. So, not sure who you could even do it with. Raven?

Eric Bischoff’s Last Match Too bad Sid's been retired for 5 years. Could have faced Eric and had the Scissor Sisters as guest enforcers.

So, was the match any good? In person not really. Credit to Lethal and Jarrett for doing their best to make it look good and keep Flair as safe as possible but as far as an actual match it was like watching a sad old man trying to throw chops and punches and barely able to stand.

The seating turned into a mess on the floor too, if you’re going to make it general admission someone at least has to keep track of who is supposed to be in what area. There were nearly fist fights over seats all night.
