Why does MJF not wrestle during his feuds?

? He actually wrestles. He teamed with FTR during Punk feud and lost against Shawn Dean 2 weeks ago as the most recent ones

He doesnt need to wrestle weekly cause he's a established star

Kayfabe, it's arrogance, though as pointed out, he does wrestle, perhaps more than he used to, even.

Non-kayfabe, they try to keep him as something of a special attraction, along with it being probably to keep him from losing often but also not having him climb the rankings since they don't want to put him into a position for title matches often, as they do not want to put one on him just yet. He challenged for the tag belts with Jericho and had the Moxley match, but I think that's been it so far, which is kind of wild given them treating him as one of the top heels in the company since just about day one.

Kayfabe- He’s a coward deep down that wants his backup to take care of his problems for him.

Booking- He gets more heat by staying away from fighting the opponent until a big match and making us wait to see the babyface get their hands on him.

So he made it sound like he purposely only wrestles when best suited him.

He is still getting paid; an employee, with a boss. He should do his damn job, which is wrestle. Unless it has been established that he works in AEW for free, only wrestling when he wants to.

The idea on Kayfabe is you wrestle a match,you get paid.You win you get paid more

I don't mind him not wrestling as often as the other top stars.

But I'm really hoping that this Wardlow feud is the last 'fight a load of people before you get to fight me' MJF programme. The Jericho, Punk and now Wardlow fueds have all followed a similar vein. It's worked, cause they've all been a little different and all parties involved have done brilliantly with it, but it's rapidly becoming exhausted.

The kayfabe reason is that he only wrestles when he has to. He doesn't need the money and doesn't want to give fans the chance to see him wrestle. IIRC, hasn't it been said that he only does the minimum matches he's contracted for?

Sure, but he's one who is established to have a lawyer on-hand to do his bidding in wrestling, and who can get as nice a contract he wants. Lots of dates and payouts might be important to some wrestlers, but Max would've gone for a contract that'd let him do the opposite, and had the backup to get that deal for himself.

This would be why Jericho had to go through the five labors, or why TK won't just buy out Wardlow's contract.

Same reason he keeps kayfabe on social media and has tepid sounding entrance music; the crowd are desperate to cheer for him but he needs a face turn at this stage in his career like he needs a hole in the head.

Outside of kayfabe he has to keep having matches so he doesn't get ring rust so often wrestles under a mask as Evil Uno. The clue is MJF is an evil one. This is also why MJF hasn't fueded with the Dark Order.
