Yea this was a very weak episode..despite there being a few fun bits.
Raw was the better show.

I don’t want to rag on Mandy too much because I do not dislike her nor do I think she was bad here.
That being said, it’s kind of telling when by the end of the match it felt like the 20 year old was helping her to one of her better matches, as opposed to the other way around.

I'm probably biased because I'm a Mandy/Toxic Attraction fan but I didn't really sense a carry job. It looked like both were pulling their weight to me. It looked like Mandy was calling it/leading as I noticed her doing the Jericho special (whisper in opponents ear before spot) which isn't a surprise as the heel usually leads unless the face is much more experienced. I will say that I do think Mandy is one of the more inconsistent women wrestlers on the roster. She'll have matches like the one tonight or the KLR one from a few months ago where the match is good and she's also pulling her weight and holding her own. Then she'll have matches like the one against Dakota a few weeks ago where she was tripping over self and looked like she didn't have a clue how to take any moves. I think with her it just comes down to how much chemistry. If she clicks with someone it's perfectly good. If not then it can be kind of rough.

I think the issue is that that title has a very prestigious lineage. And she has been the champion for half a year now.
“Maybe she’ll have a good match” is kind of not the standard that you necessarily want in a long champion.

Thing is they don't really have many options. With how NXT is layed out now the days of having Champions who are going to have at least ***1/2 star matches every Takeover are over. It's strictly a developmental show now with the exception of Mandy who is a reclamation project. It's a show with a lot of projects who still need more seasoning and need to be built up. Mandy looks the part, comes off like a star, and while not great is the ring is decent enough. I don't think using her as a stop gap until one of the newbies is ready to be a bad decision. Honestly I think her reign has probably gone has long ago as it probably should. Six or seven months I think is the perfect reign length for her but as I said they don't really have any better options so I guess you might as well keep it on her and keep her strong as champion which will then make the next champions win mean more.

They really need to progress things. Again I don’t want to get on her case do much because I do not dislike her actually. But it feels like the TA stuff has not really progress, either story wise or in terms of their characters, hardly at all in seven months. It’s feels not much different than it did after Halloween Havoc. They’re just spinning their wheels here and it’s getting a bit stale.
They need to shake things up soon in a noticeable way imo.

I mean on one hand it's refreshing to have a team who doesn't have DISSENSION and actually gets along with one another but they are one team who probably could use a little bit of it at this point. Not to the point where they break up but maybe have something where say Mandy and Gigi have a little tiff or something just to plant a bit of a seed for the future. I thought Gigi and Jacy losing the tag titles was maybe the start of them maybe showing cracks where maybe Mandy would start being more demeaning to them since she would be the only one with a belt. However instead Mandy helped them get their belts back three days later after preventing Wendy Choo from interfering which if anything makes Mandy kind of likeable in that it shows she actually cares for her girls and is looking out for them. Or you could do something where Mandy is the only one without a belt and gets jealous and "accidentally" costs Gigi and Jacy the tag titles because her ego can't allow her to be the only one not to have a title. Or you could the other way where you could make Mandy more the face by having the other two start to get a big head and start being ungrateful to their mentor thinking they don't need her since they are the only ones with titles. There's definitely a lot of wasted potential I feel with them at least from a storyline standpoint.

So, Roxanne is probably going to be in the Breakout tournament that starts in 2 weeks, right? And considering how hard they're pushing her, it's probably safe to say that she's going to be the odds-on-favorite to win the whole thing. Won't be surprised if the finals is going to be her vs Lash Legend in a "David vs Goliath"-type of match to put her over as the plucky underdog.

The best aspiring talent they got versus the jolly green legend. Seems realistic. Honestly, I don't want to be harsh on Lash. I hope she improves and can amount to someone successful. Speculation she is set to work with Meiko at the next UK tapings. Not sure if that will prepare her for a banger with Roxanne, however I suspect at this rate that will take a bit more. I'll be curious to see how touched up and edited her work from the recent UK taping was.

I dare say I'm excited for that and think Ivy is far enough along it will only help. Sadly based off Lash's run there it's speculated at the next one she'll be facing Meiko. But for now just speculation so we'll see.

Lash Legend is the most established of all these girls in the Breakout tournament having been in NXT 2.0 for many months and has been in feuds(her current one vs Nikkita Lyons) and is set to be in a major match at the upcoming TV special(teaming with Natalya vs Lyons and Cora Jade). Not to mention the imagery of 6 foot tall Lash Legend stepping up against barely over 5 foot tall Roxanne Perez would accentuate and put over Roxanne as the plucky underdog.

Man, at lot of people talked about Lash & Nikita awkwardly running the ropes in slow motion and not enough talking about how Nikita dumped herself on her head with that spill to the outside or Lash not even selling the finish for 5 seconds before shooting to her feet and joining in the beatdown.

The Lash-Nikita match gave off major GLOW vibes, and not in a good way.
