The nightmare factory was a pretty cool name. Now it’s just The factory. They couldn’t find a new adjective? It’s just so plain. It’s like WWE And…
The club. Not the bullet club, just the club. They did try balor club but then they put gallows and Anderson back with AJ. Then they were the OC which I guess meant “the original club”.
The Wolves. As cheesy as adding a Nationality to things, I gotta say, American wolves is so much better.
Also I remember Bret hart was sometimes called Hitman Bret hart. It sounds so much better as Bret the Hitman Hart. Going back to the example about nationalities, it work for Ricky steamboat but can you imagine if they were Dragon Ricky Steamboat and Brian American Dragon Danielson?
In a reverse of this, I grew up with the Rockers so calling them the Midnight rockers took some getting used to in old matches.
Ultimate warrior being just Warrior was okay.
Andrade cien Almas. Just take any one of those names anyway and it doesn’t quite sound as cool. Almas. Cien Almas. Andrade Almas. Andrade, I guess is the best option but still not as cool.
War machine to war raiders. Meh. Then war raiders to Viking raiders. Still not good. Let’s not even discuss Viking experience.

Also there’s something I really hate about Raw instead of Monday night Raw. While I just prefer Smackdown instead of Friday night Smackdown or Smackdown Live

Some people said "Monday Night Nitro" ... what?
When wrestlers said "The WCW".
Always liked Randy "Macho Man" Savage more than "Macho Man" Randy Savage.
Hercules felt generic and destined for the job squad after they dropped Hernandez from his name.
Richard Morton was so corporate that he put his mullet in a ponytail but continued to tie bandannas around his legs.

I wish they had kept the Hercules leather ring gear. That really set him apart too though it didn't help he lost to Steamboat on a PPV and Billy Jack on a PPV and barely won anything but squashes. I wonder what crosses WWF's mind when they put the money and effort into making an awesome outfit like Herc's and then drop it a few months later.

Yeah, I think he lost the leather gear and added the chain at the same time he lost the Hernandez name and cut his hair. Maybe Vince thought the Spanish warrior persona was too subtle and they needed to go all out in the son of Zeus direction.

"Theory", "Riddle", and previously, "Ali".
The first is too generic, the second one sounds goofy by itself, and the third was just a last name more associated with Muhammad Ali than Mustafa.

Elias Samson was way better than just "elias". Always was awkward when he introduced himself like(paraphrased) "I am Elias. Who wants to walk with Elias?" Sounded way better with the full name plus the drifter part

So out and out changing a name is not allowed here? (So my first thought, going from Lightning Kid to 1-2-3 Kid, is a no-no?)
How about the brief time they only called Harley Race "The King"? (which may have led to Jerry Lawler's lawsuit, which I could see...as only referring to Race by his nickname meant the WWF could potentially have plugs for shows in Tennessee promising an appearance by "the King."
Getting rid of the Big Van part of Vader's name.

I said it sounded better when he used his full name on the first part, then said who wants to walk with elias. Nothing wrong with the walk part itself. Getting rid of the full name just made it sound awkward.

WCW had some moments when they tried to give their heartthrob characters the one-name treatment. The Dynamic Dudes were just Johnny and Shane for a bit. And didn't they just call Alex Wright by his first name a few times along with the "Das Wunderkind" name?
When in the American Males, I think they toyed with calling him "Marc" Bagwell a few times.

That's funny, I don't remember him being called Marc though I feel like I hear Tony's voice saying it. I was at an autograph signing at a theme park where he and Disco appeared (why it wasn't Marcus and Scotty I'm not sure-maybe Scotty was hurt because I think Marcus had a single match on the Bash PPV the next night). But Marcus was signing his name "Marc Bagwell." After the Buff term he literally signs everything, even pre Buff items, "Buff."

Tony Schiavone pronouncing "Hugh Morrus" as "humorous" as if the joke was over the audience's head.

I'm struggling to think of a time when WWE's one-name style didn't make things worse.
Maybe Big E, sort of? It still feels weird without a last name.
Riddle and Theory definitely suffered the most from losing their first names. Part of me wonders if it's because Vince decided he didn't want a second "Austin."

I think Christian Cage sounds better than just Christian, but he's never used the Cage part in WWF/E.

I think Christian Cage sounds better than just Christian, but he's never used the Cage part in WWF/E. Funny thing is, WWE did have a Chris Cage in its developmental territory. I remember him because he and The Miz lost to Tyson Tomko and Snitsky at a house show I attended in 2005.
