I'm constantly hearing comedians pissing and moaning about people being offended or telling them what they can''t or can't say or whatever.
I'm just going to say to them what they have been saying to the offended for over 10 years now: "Get over it!"
If someone doesn't like your joke, get over it, and move on to the next audience. Instead I'm constantly hearing comedians going "Woe is me! Everyone is too offended. Everyone is too PC. Nobody laughs at my jokes anymore. Woe is me!"
I thought comedians knew how to make ANYTHING funny but all I'm seeing are a bunch of crybabies with megaphones complaining that they can't make anything funny anymore because somebody might be offended. Dipshits! You could be making jokes about that! You could be making jokes about a society being so onverly-considerate that we have to be considerate to nazis! You could be making jokes about how out of date your routine is! Instead, all I'm hearing is unfunny whining!
These aren't comedians anymore, these are a bunch of whining hacks who now think that the very sounds of their voice should garner laughter and demands that everyone else change when they don't want to laugh. That, to me, is entitlement.

Well, note which comedians are.
At least here in the UK we have younger generations of comics coming through who are able to do just fine.
Here it's more people moaning about them, you get the occasional old man yells at cloud from John Cleese.
Only seems to be the ones who are older and already wildly rich and successful doing it, crying into their money rather than working on their act.

Agreed, it's one of the laziest types of humor out there and "PC" is too broad of a term to even mean anything by itself.

Oh, just like people who are offended by a comedian's jokes should just "Get over" what they say becauses "shock comic is gonna shock."
You see how that argument devolves into a cycle. The "Just get over it" argument works both ways here.

Also, if people are going to get on your case over a joke, that's their problem. You don't have to complain about it, too.

It's funny that this is the first response when your sig is exactly what the OP is talking about. I'm British, so I love cynical comedy. But I agree if you do nothing but complain about what you "can't" joke about, the problem lies in your material or lack of it.

My point is that it seems both sides are just arguing in circles here.

Or is that too snarky and cynical?

It's the right level. It's a lack of self awareness, like a lot of similar arguments on other topics. Like you say, it's a 20 year old mindset. Comedy more than anything ages like milk, when they started out, there were people who were using the same kind of material they had for 20 years, which had made them successful. And these guys saw them as old fashioned, set in their ways etc. the old guys complained, and the cycle goes on.

The true greats adapt with the times. Former greats can turn into hacks when they get stuck up their own asses about how times and tastes change.

Comedians complain when they won't update their acts. They whine because most of their material is cliched and tedious.

I saw a great comedian live the other night. Probably the most laughs I've had in years. It was game 7 of the Mavericks vs Suns.

I'm reminded of Jerry Seinfeld complaining that he wouldn't be able to perform in front of college crowds these days because of how PC everyone is. Sure it's an audience he hasn't performed for in decades, one that he wouldn't consider lowering himself to even if they loved his gay french king impressions, but he's heard from friends that they might not love his act as much as they did three decades ago and that's good enough for him, they may even *Gasp* heckle him, something that's a recent development in comedy audience reactions and down to those goshdarn woke kids.
Comedy is continually evolving and the most established comedians will always complain about that fact, there'll always be some that give interviews saying the audience is wrong for having changing tastes. They shouldn't have to adapt, they've made a fortune so to them the world is exactly the same now as it was when George H.W. Bush was in office, why won't people whose parents were still in school when they were at their peal worship them?
