I just remembered because I was watching an old clip of the simpsons where Bart calls them up and tells them he has no dad and Homer takes offense
I didn’t know until watching impact wrestling of all places, that not only do phone sex hotlines still exists, but so do their commercials hahha

Fortunately enough there hasn’t been any scandal tied to the organization, or at least not the kind the more cynical of us might expect. The only controversy I saw tied to them was poorly recording how they used some grant money they were awarded. I never was involved in the program but remember in the 1990s one of my friends had a Big Brother. I remember thinking it was kind of weird because he had an actual big brother, you know the kind you’re related to. However his actual big brother was a jerk whereas the guy the organization put him with was the stereotypical cool in a very PG kind of way, that the organization promoted. Also I remember watching the documentary Stevie by Hoop Dreams director Steve James. It’s about James reconnecting with a kid he mentored through the program. While James seems positive enough, the guy he mentored ended up being a really creepy adult that ended up abusing one of his own relatives.

I was gonna say Beyblades, but they kinda made a comeback in the early 2010s, though it's climb back to popularity was slow and steady.
I guess in the case of the area I live in (Hawai'i), either Meadow Gold's mascot Lani Moo (I'm not sure when she retired), High School Football games on local channel OC-16 (they're still on, but not as discussed as much as the late 90s-Early 2010s) or radio station KCCN FM 100's Birthday Bash concerts (I attended one of them in the late 2000s and they might have made a comeback this year?). There's probably more, but those are the first three that come to mind.

Does anyone still have Beanie Babies?
When I was young it seemed like everyone had them, along with a Furby.

Do paperboys still exist? The paper we get is just delivered in the morning via someone in a car.

My old answer to this was A&W Drive-ins, then I saw one like 2 years ago when I went to Minneapolis for a wedding. I got some food and a rootbeer. It was pretty damn good.

A&W is still around and I would assume some of them have drive thrus. There was one in a mall here for awhile. Unfortunately it was the dying mall (well more than the others).

With elementary school kids getting iPads now, I wonder if book fairs and ordering books by mail still exist. Both were big when I was a kid; seeing the package from Scholastic Book Club on the teacher’s desk and getting a whiff of that new-book smell was the best.

Saw them in Bemidji back when I was like, 14 and was blown away that the root beer company had a fast food place as well. They opened one local location near me in Texas not that long ago and it's still the only other place I've ever seen one. Real shame as the food is awesome.

I'm not proud that I initially read the thread title as "things that were big in your mouth".
