I liked it because you had a fantasy setting that didn't have this giant library of comics/books/shows/movies to adhere too, so it could just batshit wacky.
It very much felt like somebody's crazy Dungeons and Dragons campaign.

SIGH
Really loved this show. Was really hoping for more of a follow up, especially how the last season ended.

I didn’t hate it or anything but there were a LOT of creative choices that left me befuddled.

Same.
Like, from my own point of view, this doesn't surprise me. While there were some bits and sequences I liked, it overall didn't click with me, felt very jarring at points, and was neither memorable enough on the fantasy side or the quippy kooky one-liner side.
I watched it all yet, a little over just two months later, can barely remember much of it.
But I know it had a fanbase, especially for the LGTBQ+ community (yes, AJ), and it's sad to see them upset. The representation was one of the strongest things about this show.

Love the film, but thought the series was pretty boring. I will miss the beautiful gals they had on the cast though.

If this series were about Willow Nightingale, it might have continued. In all seriousness, the cancellation sucks for the people who were fans of the show.

1. Willow is a cult movie; as beloved as it is now, it didn’t do well when it was originally released, its audience grew over time. Follow ups to cult movies rarely do that well.
2. The idea actually had potential, but the writing was an utter mess. They just had no clear premise and direction. The curse of so many streaming series based off a pre-existing property.

When I watched this last year, I really couldn't help but get feeling that this show exists for no other reason than being content for the sake content. That and Disney + lost 4 billion last year. OF course, they were going shitcan something.

Willow made over 3 times its budget at a time when advertising and the like didnt double its budget. It was financially successful. It was only considered a failure because the studio expected it to be a massive Star Wars success.

Willow show had very little in common with Willow the film, the tone is completely off. This isn't even nostalgia talking, I watched the movie right before starting the show, what a lot of people probably did, and they were nothing a like. Willow film is not about a plucky teenager with a plucky girlfriend trying to rescue her plucky brother. In the film, Willow is a father, Madmartigan is a warrior who has deserted, not a bunch of kids in a coming-of-age story.
The show also decided to have a whole group of people when it should have just been Willow and Madmartigan and Sorsha's daughter.
