{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}they used the 90's x-men theme and not the movies theme, so I'm hoping its that continuity they bring in for it, yes the movies had some bright spots (jackman, liev schreiber's sabretooth, both xavier's.) but a fresh ish start is needed for the x-men franchise {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} They will use their own continuity. I can't see them tying themselves to the mess that Fox made, let alone a cartoon from the early 90s. I think the riffs from the cartoon theme in this and Dr. Strange were specifically to elicit a sense of nostalgia from many of us. It could also low key be reminding people of the series since they are planning to continue it in cartoon form. I loved the moments with the theme but MCU will go their own way. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}
{Spoiler}{Spoiler}
{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Also, I think this is lowkey the death of Inhumans in the MCU. They tried the series that failed (though I did like some parts of it), they tried it on tv with Agents of Shield. However, the Inhumans were always the silver medal behind mutants. Now that they have the movie rights for the mutants, I expect Inhumans will be forgotten as far as the MCU goes.
{Spoiler}I don’t think Inhumans will be completely ignored. Don’t put it past Kevin Feige to be spiteful himself and prove he can do Inhumans better than the cheap schlock Marvel TV put out. Black Bolt appearing in MoM was proof of that. I see them playing either second fiddle in the Marvels or a future Fantastic Four project. Kamala and Carol both have Kree influences and so do the Inhumans. It wouldn’t be a stretch to have them be secondary foes that turn good.

{Spoiler}{Spoiler} gonna say... Kamala is one of the names that was flat out said if Perlmutter didn't ban new characters she would have been a mutant to begin with.
her entire story fits way better as one than an inhuman too.

Absolutely. The generally positive fan reaction to Black Bolt's appearance in Multiverse of Madness (and the overwhelmingly negative reaction to killing him) is probably enough for Feige to realise there would be money left on the table if Inhumans are ignored going forward.

Do they even have any big villains outside of Maximus to use?

So imagine the reaction of her parents when they find out who's in her room

Got round to watching this now, over three nights. I've a bit of an MCU backlog to work through. Bit of a mixed bag but mostly good, with the best points being Kamala herself and her delightful family, dipping into their background/heritage, and the creative visuals. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Down points were them managing to provide not one not two but three unsatisfying antagonists/pseudo-antagonists and a rather rushed tone by the end. As much as I enjoyed the background detail in the trip to Karachi, perhaps in the end that could've all been balanced better. Ultimately, looking forward to seeing Kamala return.

Yeah it just seems to me that they had a lot of ideas and were not sure if they would get a second season to use them. So they shoved them all in one. I would have preferred a first season with Damage Control being the primary antagonists with the other “villains” being introduced towards the end to be explored in a second season. We would have been deprived of the trip which was some of the best stuff. But imagine a second season with a lot more of it explored in greater detail.

As I've said before, I felt them going to Karachi was a huge mistake for the show. They hadn't even finished establishing Jersey City with its supporting characters before just taking a side trip to another country to establish a completely different city with a completely different set of supporting characters. The show already had pacing issues and that was just a waste of two episodes that could've been better used to explore Kamala as a superheroine for her hometown.

How much is the first episode reflective of the rest of the show? I wanted to get into it but I kind of f***ing loathed the first episode and it put me off ever watching more of it.

I think Blackout has a good point about that...it does kinda feel like episodes 1, 2, 3 and 6 are one show, and 4 & 5 a different one (that would've been a great second season by itself).
