Went to a Smoky Mountain Wrestling show in Beckley, WV back in the day that Jake was supposed to be at but he never showed up. I don’t know if he no-showed or had been fired but I think the match had been promoted on that week’s TV show. I was so pissed off. My friend and I could see the wrestlers enter and leave the arena from our seats and every time a long-haired wrestler entered the arena we were sure it was him, but it was not to be. I forget the story but I’ve heard about this on cornettes podcast a long time ago. If I remember correctly he skipped and when he was called by cornette his answering machine was playing comfortably numb

I like Foley's story of talking to Jake about his religious pursuits and what that meant to him. Foley was a pretty religious guy himself and considered entering the priesthood himself, so he really admired what Jake was doing. He said to Jake, "You must really get a lot of it". Jake says, "Brother, $1500 a shot, plus gimmicks". Foley says, "I guess Jake and I had different ideas about 'really getting a lot out of it'"

I've had almost 40 birthdays in my lifetime and Jake hasn't shown up for a single one.

The following day Dennis Knight razzed Mick about the incident by saying "Excuse me, I specifically requested a non urine soaked room." in his pitch perfect Mankind voice impersonation. All said that was in the past and it did my heart good to see Jake finally get the help he truly needed. Does it wash away the stuff he did before? Not completely, but it shows that with the right guidance and the will to stick to said guidance anyone can change for the better.
