Yeah, I think that’s what made it go down a bit better. He’s saying it as a piece of shit who is doing it to annoy someone and knowing full well it would work (and props for Matt for trying and failing to interrupt because, like, yeah, that would be a human reaction instead of saying nothing) rather than going full “YOU SHOULD HAVE DIED IN THE WOMB!” with it.

But man Christian just killed him with that brother line. Christian certainly benefitting from MJF being off TV right now.

that's the difference between an MJF and a Christian. MJF is desperate for those reactions and always gives the little faces after dropping the line. Christian just says them with pure venom. the GOAT.

MJF is really good, especially for how young he is. But his promo delivery really comes off as tryhard at times. On the other hand, Christian spews venom as naturally as he breathes.

I think that's just them both being good characters though, MJF has the insecurity and overcompensates because of it, Christian is past that.

Yeah, I think the Punk feud basically showed a lot of what made MJF how he was. The loss of his hero, the loss of faith he has in being a wrestler and how determined he became to be better than him, a sort of Secret Origin of MJF, if you will.

Christian Cage has been there, done that and had WWE, TNA and AEW make t-shirts of it.

Given Tony’s ECW fandom and Christian’s sheer assholishness, it would be interesting if they crib from when Sandman won the ECW Title for the first time/RVD becoming Mr Monday Night and have EVERYONE (except Luchasaurus) hate Christian. Yeah, like I'll be honest, if Christian tried to do the football team promo, outside of it just being weird he'd be telling someone else's story, I wouldn't buy it, but it made sense from MJF, and not just because it's his real history.

Christian has been doing stuff lately that only makes sense coming from his history and his experience. It's former world champion material.

Christian is one of those rare guys who can somehow put you as the viewer in the space of the babyface that he's tearing down. Jerry Lawler used to do it very well back in the day when he had a heel run. He portrays a bad person very well.

That’s all that anyone got from it though. Such a mixed bag for me. Generally, I don’t like when they do it. The hangman stuff was a work but the way WWE handled it and the promo last night I’m just like.. 🤷. I had my own issues. And at the same time, I’m kind of an artsy- f*** it - all goes type. Jeff absolutely gave the ok. At the same time, Jeff’s behavior has been so god damn egregious that I’m kind of like..it’s deserved. It’s complicated.

Jeff is very obviously not okay, so regardless of his or Matt's consent I think it is terrible optics to bring that into a work.

He got a DUI recently, guys. He has shown himself willing to do things in his spare time that literally could kill him, and everyone is going to be looking real awkward if they have a heel joke about Jeff's problems and he literally dies later. Doesn't need to be an OD if he is willing to drive drunk.
