I'd say Wrestlemania 13 and Bret's heel turn represent the end of the New Generation. His Hart Foundation period transitions and bridges the gap between New Generation and Attitude Era. With his work done, he's screwed out of a job and we've officially entered the Attitude Era.

I'd say Wrestlemania 13 and Bret's heel turn represent the end of the New Generation. His Hart Foundation period transitions and bridges the gap between New Generation and Attitude Era. With his work done, he's screwed out of a job and we've officially entered the Attitude Era. Something I haven't noticed before that I just caught was the WWF debuted the Attitude Era logo at the Survivor Series event during a promo stating "if you think this isn't real, try lacing my boots" and Bret Hart(along with Ahmed Johnson) were in the original version of it. So you can say Bret Hart's last night with the company was the first day the Attitude Era begins since that's when they started using the tagline. Alot REALLY picked up just before Bret left (Vince McMahon officially outed as the owner, DX becoming a stable by name, New Age Outlaws forming, Kane debuting etc etc). So yeah, even though I can never set an exact day the Attitude Era began, I'm more open to setting an earlier date than Wrestlemania XIV that it began, and while Bret Hart isn't normally associated with that time period the same way Austin, Rock, Foley, DX and others are, he certainly helped usher it in, albeit unintentionally since he hated the direction the company was going(which ironically enough was part of his on screen character).
