Devils trade Pavel Zacha to the Bruins for Erik Haula. Makes sense, Pavel was never going to reach his potential in Jersey, and Haula can slide right into being the third or fourth center, or even play wing if needed. Wouldn't mind seeing Boqvist get the other spot down the middle. Also clears a bit more cap space... Rangers signing Trocheck for 7 years is, uh, a choice, but hey, they need centers. Tampa guys are gettin' paid, too. EDIT: If you know a Flyers fan, pray for them. Unless you're a Devils, Rangers, or Penguins fan, in which case please laugh uproariously.

Samsonov and Murray, apparently.

Yeah the extra cap space leaves more of a cushion if they do win the Johnny Hockey sweepstakes.

A little much, but I’ve seen some Devils fans freaking out it as if he’s gonna fall off a cliff by next year. People don’t seem to be realizing the cap is probably going up pretty high in a few years…

Defenceman Brendan Smith also coming to the Devils for a couple of years.

Vegas "traded" Max Pacioretty for cap relief. I get why since Vegas is so cap strapped but just like with Fleury it sucks to him go. Vegas really needs a deep cup run this season or better yet winning the cup because this team is eating itself in pursuit of the cup

This comes on the heels of Hockey Canada announcing they’ll no longer set aside a special fund, read minor hockey registration fees, to pay off sexual assault victims.

One of the guys with no alibi as of yet for the night of the alleged incident with Hockey Canada is Devils center Mike McLeod. Whole situation is getting very antsy; if that all went down he's culpable in any of it then I'm not exactly enthused to see him wearing red next season.

Florida landed a huge fish but somehow came out of it worse headed into the season The only way this makes any sense is if they're 100% sure they weren't re-signing Huberdeau or Weegar, but even then they've now dealt their next three first round picks and are something like $4 million over the cap with only 22 players fully under contract. Tkachuk for under $10 million a season is good for them (those Florida state taxes, or lack thereof...), but they really need to win the Cup ASAP with all of this. Calgary gets to play several options here, though there's definitely risks. They got a very good prospect and a first rounder, so good for them, but Huberdeau's a UFA after next season and I think Weegar is a RFA? Can't lose them for nothing; they clearly wanted this deal since they could sell it to their fans that they're still aiming to compete next season despite losing their best two players, but it doesn't do much if they get a playoff run out of this trade but then Huberdeau does what many expect and just skips off to Montreal as a free agent afterward. They could flip one or both of them now or at the deadline if they're not in the race and get a decent haul, but again it's clear they want to compete so that'll be tough to pull off if they even have a shot at the playoffs (which they should in that division). So yeah, hard to rate the trade until all of that shakes out.

Great deal for Calgary. Everyone and their mother in STL wanted Tkachuk home, despite the fact that he would wreck our cap situation. Thankfully, Armstrong got heavily outbid. Florida takes one step forward, two steps back. I get that 9.5 isn't a bad number, and Huberdeau wasn't going to re-sign, but they're all in here and their team looks worse this season. That's a tough deal, Weegar particularly who they don't have a replacement for and who is a really good defenseman. Flames get to have their cake and eat it too. They sell their tickets with a great trade, but cash in on Huberdeau at the deadline. Something tells me they're gonna keep some of that extra cap space so they can retain on Huberdeau (Weegar as well, if it comes to that) to up the return. Hell, they can get a 1st and a prospect for Weegar and two 1sts for Huberdeau. They could conceivably turn Tkachuk into four 1sts, which is the equivalent to him getting offer sheet'd at insane money. Calgary played that very well.

Remember those Reverse Retro jerseys that came out a couple years ago and were a lot of fun?
Yeah, they're all gone now, and Adidas is having every team design another new Reverse Retro jersey, basically "RR 2.0"
Greedy bastards, but ah well, time to speculate and look for leaks of what they'll be.

www.tsn.ca/sexual-assault-allegations-2003-world-juniors-team-1.1828253Group sexual assualt allegations against the 2003 Canadian World Junior Team too. For anyone wondering about their roster, here it is. A lot of well known names, this broke three days ago with only 4 players so far having said they weren't involved. Could possibly be more than the 8 members with the 2018 one but that's just speculation. Hockey Canada under fire again, rightfully so. As someone that suffers from PTSD from complete bullshit that happened in junior hockey, I hope the whole system crumbles. www.quanthockey.com/wjc-u20/en/teams/team-canada-players-2003-wjc-u20-stats.htmlLate posting on all the hockey happenings. Here goes.... I will eat crow on Shane Wright not going 1st. Rumours from unreliable sources are saying he acted like an entitled twat during his interviews and that turned teams off, but grain of salt. TSN had a special the other day called "Welcome to the NHL," but yeah, I could see how he might rub people the wrong way if that was the case. Slaf seemed like he would be an awesome teammate, good for him for making history. 1st round of the draft was awesome entertainment. Loved how Anaheim, Columbus, Buffalo, Minny, Winnipeg and (unfortunately) Washington drafted. Anaheim absolutely crushed it with the D they took, very impressed with Verbeek's first draft and not shocked with the Gaucher pick too. I only really follow the top 50 or so prospects really close but it looks like they hit it out of the park. Seattle lucked out with Wright and I loved the Firkus pick too. If he wasn't as light as a feather he would have been a lot higher. Wow, hell of a return for Calgary. As posted before, Huberdeau has already said publicly he'd like to play for the Habs so wouldn't be shocked if he's there next off season.

Can't say this stuff surprises me at all. Even the shit I'd hear about guys from the local OHL team getting away with would make you shoot blood from your eyes.

I remember years and years ago Angelo Esposito dropping from like top 3 to late 1st round, then being traded and never did play a game in the NHL. But, no matter how you pick, you can always rest assured, the 1990 Oilers have you beat. Fresh off a Stanley Cup win, the Oilers selected 11 players in the draft. Those 11 players went on to play an astonishing 0 combined NHL games. No, I didn't make a typo. Zero.
