I don't understand what they see in Theory, the dude to me is what FAN thinks Tony Nese is, a dude who can't cut a promo to save his life, totally lifeless as hell as a character, and he can wrestle good

Like granted, he can wrestle, but how the f*** is THIS the guy Vince is obsessed with out of the entire roster? It's just stupid. Hopefully he just gets destroyed when he tries to cash in because this is about as heatless of a briefcase winner in a long time.

Sheesh, considering how far off Orton was in terms of finding his charisma at that point (my understanding is he showed he had something in the RNN vignettes, but being the blue-chipper in Evolution didn’t really lend itself to showing that more often), that’s saying something.

Think Orton showed definite sparks as the Legend Killer, and I could certainly see at the time why they pulled the trigger on him when they did because he was on fire in early 2004, but they completely bungled his face turn by doing it super abruptly, having not established any character traits about him that were actually likable (which also looks likely to happen with Theory), and immediately undercutting him by having him get cut down by Triple H immediately. It might have gone a lot better had he stayed heel and taken over Evolution with Triple H the one turning since he definitely had momentum as a heel at the time.

Though with the benefit of hindsight it probably wouldn't have worked out anyway. Orton still felt super out of place in the main-event scene after that even when he did turn heel again until he started punting people and leaned into having more bloodlust in his character.
