It’s not every day that you meet your new grandsons and your new nephews, and they’re the same people. And I say that as someone from Tennessee.

That was an unbelieveably good episode.
Viserys walking to the throne was such an amazing scene. Ending perfectly with Daemon helping him at the end and placing the crown on his head.
I also like how this is the episode with Viserys physically weakest, yet it's also the episode where he has been the strongest as a king--going to the throne to support his daughter, making decisive decisions, about to kill that guy himself, forcing his family to make ammends--of a sort.

GoT & HoD seem to do extremely well with casting ill-fated kings for the most part. Viserys pretty much turned nearly everyone's opinion on him over the course of the show, and before that, I'd still argue that Mark Addy stole the hell out of season 1 as Robert.
Viserys actually lasted an episode longer than Robert did, had to go back and refresh myself on early Game of Thrones, and in a lot of ways it's very indicative of how much the later seasons (and arguably the source material too) dragged out the pacing that you almost forget that GoT!Viserys only lasted six episodes before getting his golden crown, let alone all the end-of-season-1 casualties.

I think the show has steadily gotten better. I’ve. Enjoyed the entire season, but these last two episodes have been excellent. If HBO wanted to, they could run this show like Netflix does the Crown. With an ever changing cast and a story that expands over multiple generations. Hell, they’re kind of already doing that. Let’s keep this think going through Robert's Rebellion.

What a great showing for House of the Dragons so far. This show captures everything that worked for GOT in its best years and mainly focusing on those aspects. The characters are great and tbh if the show keeps this up, this could end up on the same level as GOT and maybe even surpass it so long as it does not end as badly as GOT does.

It's been something special to experience the literal erosion of one man over the course of the last 6 weeks.

It helps that there's at least an established end to this.

It's been something special to experience the literal erosion of one man over the course of the last 6 weeks. I recall seeing a blurb that Paddy (and presumably the makeup team) were treating it as essentially chronic leprosy. Not sure if it was a deliberate homage to King Baldwin from Kingdom of Heaven or if it's a happy coincidence, but either way that was a damn impressive makeup job at all phases of his illness. I'd love to see a breakdown of whether it was entirely makeup and prosthetics or if it was that with a teeny bit of CG, like Gus's post-explosion face from Breaking Bad.

I'll echo others and say that Paddy Considine gave an all timer performance as Viserys. Amazing. Last two episodes the strongest yet. Now the fun begins.

All the talk of Paddy has been wonderful but I think we also need to watch out for Rhys Ifans becoming a perennial Emmy contender as Otto Hightower.
He pulls off that balance of slimy medieval lord who both sees and uses his children and grandchildren as political pawns, but also does seem to actually care whether they live or die. Unlike, say, Tywin Lannister who was more than willing to let Tyrion die if it meant getting his way.
Ifans has also managed to find a way to navigate the entire spectrum of emotions simply with the different ways he says the words “Your Grace.”
