If I'm remembering correct, wasn't one of the big things about the ESPN+ deal that UFC didn't have to always report their PPV buys and could just cherry pick when they wanted to? I might be dead wrong but I vividly remember that. They definitely don't so the numbers are hazy. And the UFC basically gets paid the same amount no matter what. It's ESPN that's trying to make money here. And there is evidence that generally when you increase the price, you make more money because if most folks keep buying, you make more even if you lose a small minority of buyers. But there's a limit to that and given the economy, $79 feels like they're getting near that limit. And honestly, it's been a hot minute since a UFC PPV was actually worth that much.

Which is also why Conor will always get whatever he wants as long as he isn’t getting totally smashed. He’s the absolute only guy that they have that can generate any level of buzz for UFC. They have no one else. Jon Jones at heavyweight will probably get some curiosity buys but he’s not much of an exciting fighter these days. Dana succeeded in making the brand the draw, but it’s always at the expense of fan interest. You have to have larger than life stars.

Hate to say, but kinda wish the old turd would give some indication of how far he's going to meddle in creative — this sort of lame duck period just waiting for him to make moves is a new kind of hell only VKM could author.

I have been wondering recently if some of the potential buyers might switch up the PPV modeling after the purchase. Especially if you consider someone like Endeavor. They make a good chunk of money by selling PPVs through their deal with ESPN. Whoever buys WWE is going to want to squeeze as much money out of it. Now if someone like Comcast buys it, they'll likely keep the status quo since they want to use those shows to prop up their streaming service. But I could also see others looking at at least a few shows like Mania and thinking they're throwing millions away by not putting it back on PPV. Now can you put the toothpaste back in the tube after all these years? It will be hard but AEW has shown there are wrestling fans willing to spend money after years of being conditioned that those shows aren't worth more than $10 a month. It’s possible but they wouldn’t be able to switch things up until 2026 at least, given the Peacock deal.

I have no idea how they’re getting as many buys as they do. If Dana thinks that UFC fans are some stream pirates they haven’t seen anything with wrestling nerds yet. LMAO. Man, it's a good thing I'm not into UFC. I wouldn't pay that for an AEW PPV.

Stephanie’s been busy in her free time already, she’s somehow rehabbing an ankle surgery: Man, she really couldn't leave the WWE quickly enough when her Dad returned could she?

Well, what more can be said that hasn’t been said since this situation changed, I suppose. Can the last one to leave the board make sure the door’s locked?
