Does Marvel have a chearacter similar to Namor? I would assume most Marvel characters that are similar to Namor (Namora, Namorita, etc.) would also be closely associates with Namor and thus fall under the same license. The 60's Fantastic Four cartoon couldn't use Namor, so replaced him with "Prince Triton of Pacifica", but I'd bet Hanna-Barbera probably owns the rights to that character, so that situation wouldn't be any different.

Hopefully its just a Hulk situation where Universal has distribution rights but Marvel can use him in other films and TV. Because according to Kevin Smith Universal will never sell rights to any property it owns. Even a failure like Mallrats. They had no interest in using it but also refused to sell.

How long until they get the chance to get the rights back?

How long until they get the chance to get the rights back? If its a distribution deal like Hulk then maybe never. Most deals are rights deals where the studio has full rights but they have to make films within a certain timeframe or the rights revert. Universal has only distribution rights to a Hulk movie. In 2008 Marvel made the movie and Universal distributed it and got the lions share of the money. Since then Marvel has used Hulk in other films and TV as they have full rights to the character, just no solo film. So it seems like distribution rights may be open ended.

Watching this now... It's good but I keep having the same problem I have with a lot of modern movies...
People seem to have forgotten how to light their movies.
This movie doesn't have the WORST I've ever seen (even in Marvel, hi Eternals.) but some scenes are REALLY hard to see.

Really enjoy they didn't go the easy route and have Attuma being the evil puppet master to a naive Namor... and they did just go full... no Namor is his arrogant prick self >_> I mean they gave him more of a reason than they originally did in the comics... but still he is. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} Though I want Shuri to be my ally... so I will kill her mom! I am smart! >-> Also M'Baku is like the wisest person in the MCU... he is the best... alos also... his name isn't really Namor... yet... they still do have a Namora? Also more classic Namor {Spoiler}{Spoiler}I didn't get my ass kicked and lose... it was all part of the plan... shutup! FURTHER edit: ok... people apparently seem to be taking away from the film that Shuri and Namor like each other (at the end)... and... that's... not really the message at all? Thought the last fight made it pretty abundantly clear a few times... like their battlecries literally being opposites of each other... one being a come together cry the other being basically BECAUSE I'M KING! {Spoiler} the whole Namor angry that the surface world killed his mother and wanting to burn everything because of it ... Shuri literally having the person that killed her mother dead to rights and letting him live... It's kinda like T'challa and Namor in the comics where they are a dark mirror of each other, there are similarities but... who they are as a person vastly differs... Sure as I said earlier {Spoiler} of course Namor thinks that they are totally buds now, but that's because he's an arrogant prick.

I finally got a chance to watch it. I really had no idea which way they would go with the decision not to recast T'Challa but I think this worked. It's not one of Marvel's best but I think it did a good job of handling grief and dealing with the personal fallout of T'Challa's death even in the midst of everything else happening. I feel some of the action sequences were less than they could have been, but then they weren't the focus.
The alternate back story for Namor worked. It helped avoid inevitable comparisons to Aquaman and gave something of a reason for his antipathy towards the surface world. I am curious to see where it all goes.

Managed to catch it this weekend now it's on Disney+. For me it's a superior movie of Phase 4, only surpassed by No Way Home and maaaaybe Black Widow.

This was the first MCU film I skipped watching in the theater (aside from the Hulk film, but that doesn't count). I've been a huge fan of the MCU, but Phase 4 didn't have me as excited as the previous three. Maybe things will improve once we get deeper into the Kang storyline.
Wakanda Forever was okay, but I suspect we're to look at it differently compared to other films given everything revolving around Chadwick Boseman's death. So that said, I place it at No. 3 in the seven Phase 4 films behind Spider-Man NWH and Shang-Chi. That keeps it above Black Widow, Doctor Strange ITMOM, Thor LAT, and Eternals.
As for the Disney Plus shows and their affects on the MCU quality, that's an entirely separate story

Watching the beginning again and I had a thought.
If Gene Simmons were running Marvel we would be able to buy replica T Challa coffins.
