I never found anything wrong with "superstars" though. I liked it, I never found it to be euphemism or a substitute but just a trademark of a brand.

despite it allegedly being on the verboten list... wrestling and wrestler was still said pretty regularly.
I think it'd personally be better if "winning" and "Losing" were stricken from the verboten list... cause no one says "knocked off"

Meltzer is usually pretty good, but this feels like him just doing some half-assed reporting.
I mean shouldn’t there not even be a verboten list at this point? That was all Vince, all the time.

I'm sure there are still some words that are not to be said... like I'm sure words like "kill" and "murder" are permanently off the table due to things like Benoit.

Great news, but I've heard both wrestler and wrestling used quite a bit over the last few years. Not all the time or anything, but they weren't completely banned.

Not if the suits thought their euphemisms were good from a synergy or promotional viewpoint. Trips might be Mr. Wrestling about this stuff, but that doesn't mean that Steph and Nick are 100% in lockstep either. And like everything else in this transition period, it's going to be a process that's more gradual than some people expect or would like.

Can we get “title shot” back next? So much better than “championship opportunity.”

This was Vince reaching out to the sponsors who thought pro wrestling was trash. On old shows he’s all into the in ring action on commentary. “What scientific wrestling, nice takedown maneuver!” But I’ll call people from other companies like NJPW “superstars” anyway.

No, there's decently reasonable reasons to have the list; for the most part, it's for commentary (the commentary guidelines made the rounds some years back and they were rough), or for marketing partners. The Vince problem was always just how many words he stuck onto the list and how many inexplicable hang-ups he decided had to warp everybody else's speech for no good reason. The idea of guidelines is good, the oppressive control freak form they took on in the end was the issue.

For the record I’m not arguing that the list should be gone. Obviously the Benoit stuff, killing, etc., shouldn’t be allowed and I don’t even really care about Superstars vs. wrestler or anything like that, I’m talking about the nonsense like local medical facility instead of hospital etc. Should have been more clear as usual. lol

Not saying "belt" still bothers me
Also, it's always "skull" instead of "head"
