Question for everyone/ watching WWE in 2006 on Peacock , wanted to hear everyone’s thoughts on DX that year?
I know their promos and skits were not the most sophisticated.

Juvenile, but a big guilty pleasure of mine. Better human HBK doing silly comedy just hit the right notes for me. Plus after the reign of terror, it was somewhat refreshing to see a face HHH who wasn’t in the title picture.

Terrible. Shawn was reduced to being HHH’s bitch. In the original DX Shawn was undoubtedly the leader but HHH wasn’t a total lackey like Shawn would be in the reformations. In the original DX Shawn was edgy and seemed like a loose cannon, in the revival he was reduced to looking like he’d had some sort of lobotomy and was just there to hand the mic to HHH and give a pointless final line at the end of a promo. 1997 DX may have been juvenile but there was always an edge to it and Shawn just didn’t seem to give a f*** then. It was dangerous and even to a smart fan, you didn’t always know what was scripted and what wasn’t. There were times when Vince looked really pissed off with them and you could tell he wasn’t acting. The only thing remotely funny about the 06 incarnation was when they’d come up with stupid ways for Shawn to disappear when a skit was going to be a bit too much for Shawn’s beliefs (beliefs that meant he couldn’t say or do anything sexual but was fine with still being a bit of a dick backstage). Like how Trips would randomly say something like “isn’t that Mr. Fuji?” and Shawn would go over to investigate, conveniently not being on screen when Trips was apparently being sucked off under a table. It was dumb but the less they tried to come up with an excuse, the funnier it got.

I actually started watching again right around that reunion. As a youngster I enjoyed it, because DX was a cool older thing and WWE bringing stuff back was always exciting, and I enjoyed their antics.
Now, there's some stuff I can look back on from that time as funny. Like the impersonation they did of Vince and Shane will still make me crack up. Nothing they did was cool. But I don't think it was supposed to be cool. They both knew that they were dads by then and a bit older, so they allowed themselves to ham it up more and I think a lot of the kids watching enjoyed that iteration of DX.
I will say, going back and seeing the 1997 version, that stuff totally blows away anything they did in 06.

I gotta give them props for how much of a slow burn it was. Hints here and there. They took their time and when they finally slapped hands in that “X” i marked out. I was a huge dx mark.
It was refreshing after that initial dx tease with Shawn and hunter that led to trip’s pedigreeing him and the two feuding for what felt like five years. Embracing that they were old and corny was the way to go. Can you imagine if they’d tried to take themselves seriously? Really don’t think it would have worked.
Small complaint? Didn’t have a lot of great people to bounce off of at the time.

They could've used X-Pac or if Chyna wasn't in bad shape at the time, her too.

The backstage skit with Cryme Tyme trying to scalp tickets of them, still tickles me when watching now.

Speaking as a queer person, I found their segments to be colossally homophobic
But it was hard to be too offended by it because they were so embarrassingly juvenile

There’s been a lot of things over the years that were hated by the IWC but loved by the live crowds and DX may be the biggest example of that. You’d here nothing but how terrible it was online the when you were at a show half the people in the building were wearing DX shirts and waving DX glowsticks.
I hated how long they dragged out the McMahons/Spirit Squad stuff. It was fun for the first month or so but it continued through multiple PPVs. Rated RKO was their first feud with actual credible wrestlers and it was months into their run by then and it then had to be ended abruptly when HHH got injured.

I know for a fact one person who certainly did not enjoy this run: A young stage hand named Stan.
(Oh and those other production guys that HBK kicked too I guess.)

I was only 11 when it happened but I loved it. It’s the first thing I think of when I think of DX.

Was this when HBK ended up as a cook in Titan Tower?
Or was that a whole 'nother thing
